Watching her bewildered eyes, Yu Xiuzhun didn’t ask any more questions. He went straight into the bathroom and fetched a hot towel to gently wipe away the cold sweat on her forehead.

"The porridge is still warm, I’ll feed you."

Putting down the towel, Yu Xiuzhun started to find more things to do for himself.

It seemed he was addicted to taking care of Ye Mingmei.

"I’m just a bit uncomfortable, not disabled. I can eat by myself." Ye Mingmei frowned instinctively at the porridge he brought to her lips.

Just as she reached out, Yu Xiuzhun held her hand.

"You’re hungry, save your strength, eat."

Eating by herself wouldn’t take much effort.

Ye Mingmei stared at him for a while, realizing her insistence was futile, obediently opening her mouth to drink the porridge.

This assertive side of Yu Xiuzhun made him feel less unfamiliar to her.

"How long will I be staying here?" Ye Mingmei asked tentatively.

She felt as if Yu Xiuzhun was hoping she wouldn’t be discharged. After just one nap, the things he bought nearly filled the large VIP hospital room.

Besides toiletries, he prepared clothes and shoes for her.

There were even several cute cushions on the bed, taking up a lot of space.

But leaning against them was really comfortable.

"Stay until the doctor says your body is okay." Yu Xiuzhun replied flatly without looking up, feeding her another spoonful of porridge, effectively silencing her.

"There’s nothing wrong; you’re just overreacting." Ye Mingmei mumbled after swallowing the porridge.

Upon hearing her, Yu Xiuzhun’s fingers paused, and he looked up at her.

She didn’t know she nearly miscarried. If she did, would she be worried or anxious, or would she wish to get rid of the child immediately?

Yu Xiuzhun’s gaze darkened, and he pressed his lips together.

Neither of them continued to speak.

Ye Mingmei fell asleep after eating, and Yu Xiuzhun stayed by her side until she was asleep, then took his phone to the balcony to instruct his assistant to handle some matters.

After hanging up the call, he returned quietly to the ward.

Watching Ye Mingmei’s peaceful sleeping face, he sat in the chair, slowly leaning his head close to her belly.

Feeling the presence of the baby.

His child.

"Where is he?"

As soon as morning broke the next day, Ye Mingmei got up.

She glanced around the room eagerly but didn’t see Yu Xiuzhun.

When she woke up last night, she clearly saw Yu Xiuzhun was still in the room, so why was he gone when she woke up again?

Could he have tricked her, slipping away before the revelation of his act?

Ye Mingmei imagined wildly, reached out to lift the quilt, ready to get up.

"Miss Ye’s body hasn’t recovered yet; it’s better to lie down."

The door was pushed open from outside.

The doctor walked in with a registration form for rounds, clad in a white coat, a professional stethoscope draped around his neck.

Seeing Ye Mingmei standing, he quickly stepped forward to remind her.

"Are you also ordered by Yu Xiuzhun to keep an eye on me?" Ye Mingmei was stunned and asked weakly.

"I’m Miss Ye’s attending physician, and I’m doing routine rounds. Miss Ye, have you felt any discomfort today?" The doctor approached, signaling Ye Mingmei to lie back on the bed, checking her physical indicators.

"I don’t feel any discomfort; does that mean I can be discharged?" Ye Mingmei asked subconsciously.

"I’m afraid not yet. At least for the next month or so, you’ll need rest. That’s the most prudent course of action." The doctor replied instinctively.

"A month or more..."

Ye Mingmei was suddenly dumbfounded, "Why does it have to be a month?"
