Apocalypse Forecast
Chapter 794 - 642
Not far away, a large pink cat seemingly lounging on a bench shivered and, sensing that prickling stare, hastily began to dance energetically.
The corner of Huai Shi's eye twitched, his expression darkening considerably.
"What's wrong?"
"In the story's setting, Lulu the cat doesn't dance..."
Huai Shi took a deep breath, raised his hand, and placed it on Lulu the cat's shoulder. "Enough, stop it! Haven't you even read the character description?"
He berated, "What on earth are you all doing? Is this how you serve guests? One after another, you're either breaking character or going completely OOC! What kind of basic training did you receive? You're supposed to bring joy to the guests, with heart! Joy, understand?!"
Lulu the cat gradually hunched over, trembling where it stood.
For some reason, it felt as if the pretty woman before it had suddenly transformed into some colossal figure, looking down from on high, casting a huge shadow over it, leaving it unable to resist or argue.
It took a good while for Huai Shi's expression to soften a little.
The other staff members were doing a decent job, but a few were particularly atrocious.
"Miss Huaizhi is so formidable when she gets serious," Zhenxi remarked from the side. "She's like an impressive senior in a club, so authoritative when scolding newcomers they can barely lift their heads."
"It's just that they're too unprofessional; I can't stand watching it," Huai Shi retorted, shaking his head. Then he heard a voice nearby.
"Mommy, Mommy, I want to take a photo with that big sister!" a child exclaimed excitedly, pointing at Miss Huaizhi and shouting. The mother beside him glanced over and immediately became embarrassed. "Little Jian, it's not polite to do that."
Unexpectedly, the seemingly aloof young woman turned around and, miraculously, flashed a practiced smile:
"Of course!"
By the time Huai Shi processed what was happening, he had already lifted the child, was smiling at the camera, and making a peace sign. CLICK...
Wait, isn't something off here?
He finally noticed the strange state he was in, an anomaly that had begun the moment he entered the amusement park. It was as if his body had moved on its own, just like before.
He'd slipped into some weird role!
And yet, from start to finish, he hadn't sensed anything was wrong.
What the hell was going on?
Why would just entering an amusement park trigger such a damnable buff?
At that moment, in the eyes of others, Miss Huaizhi stood smiling sweetly in the sunlight, like a princess straight out of a fairy tale, radiating an almost illusory glow.
So attention-grabbing.
It was as if a protagonist had stepped onto their own film set, utterly dazzling.
The other children nearby watched with envy, and soon they too were raising their hands, shouting, "Me too! I want to take a photo with the big sister too!"
Take photos, my foot! You come to an amusement park to play with fairy tale characters, not to harass a tourist like me!
That's what Huai Shi had intended to say.
But faced with those pairs of eyes brimming with longing, he felt his entire demeanor instantly transform.
"Alright, alright!" Miss Huaizhi smiled gently, opening her arms. "Don't worry, little ones, take your time. One by one... please form a line."
Huai Shi had barely managed to deal with the children and catch his breath when a middle-aged man hurried over, wiping sweat from his brow. He bowed and scraped, apologizing profusely on behalf of the staff to Huai Shi.
"I am terribly sorry, valued guest. Those individuals only started working yesterday... We will absolutely reinforce our staff's basic training and ensure such a situation never occurs again."
He groveled, speaking with such deference it was as if he feared Huai Shi would annihilate his entire family if displeased.
It felt exceedingly odd.
Even after the two of them had walked quite a distance, the Director was still wiping sweat from his forehead, the lingering fear not yet dissipated. His puzzled secretary asked, "Isn't that a bit much, Director? They were just a few minor issues."
"Fujita-kun, these are not minor issues at all." The Director shook his head with a wry smile. "Didn't you notice? That look in her eyes... it was as if someone from headquarters had come for an inspection. Besides, that air of authority... I've only ever seen it from the old director during my training at Edo Amusement Park back in my youth." 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
"Aren't you exaggerating, Director?"
"I hope it's just my imagination," the Director replied. "But even in costume, we are embodying the dreams of children; we absolutely cannot afford any slip-ups.
"What on earth was wrong with Qí qí and Nī nī today? Forget about outsiders, even I could barely stand to watch them."
"The STAFF member responsible for scheduling is hospitalized with the flu. It seems they were filled in by newcomers," the secretary explained.
"You just can't rely on newcomers!" the Director exclaimed, shaking his head. "Back in my day, to portray characters like Qí qí and Nī nī, you needed at least four years of training!"
"Indeed." The Director shook his head again, removing his suit jacket. "Times like these call for a seasoned veteran to show them how it's done!"
"Eh?!"
"Fujimoto-kun, what are you standing around for?" the Director urged. "Get undressed, quickly! You'll be Nī nī..."
"No, wait a moment, Director, don't pull... This is too weird! There are children watching!"
"Mommy, what are those two uncles doing?"
"Ah, that's an eyesore! Little Jian, don't look! Hello? Is this the police? There are perverts undressing in the amusement park! Please come quickly..."
