Chapter 124: Chapter 124: Wyatt, Just Go

Noelle Sutton was sitting in the passenger seat when she saw Tristan Lawson at a glance.

Wyatt Yates was driving, and with a clear view of the road ahead, he naturally noticed Tristan Lawson as well.

They were approaching Noelle’s home, so the car had slowed considerably. Wyatt subconsciously glanced over at her.

Noelle immediately signed, "Wyatt, just keep driving!"

She didn’t want to run into Tristan Lawson. Besides, she was with Wyatt right now, and given Tristan’s temper, a conflict was inevitable.

Wyatt sped up.

Tristan Lawson was facing Secretary Shaw, his gaze happening to fall on the road.

There was an indescribable sense of familiarity about that car.

Seeing Tristan staring at the car, Secretary Shaw turned his head to look as well.

"Mrs. Lawson..."

However, the car sped past without a moment’s hesitation.

Tristan Lawson also saw Noelle Sutton through the car window.

He subconsciously took a step forward.

But the car was already far in the distance. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

A thick, sinister aura radiated from Tristan Lawson. Secretary Shaw lowered his head, not daring to even breathe too loudly.

If they could see Noelle, they could also see Wyatt Yates.

Only after Wyatt’s car disappeared from view did Tristan slowly retract his gaze. "Secretary Shaw," he called out, his voice cold and heavy.

Secretary Shaw immediately looked up.

Tristan’s sharp, cold eyes were filled with darkness. "You’ve been here all day. When did he arrive?"

’It’s over!’ Secretary Shaw thought.

But he didn’t dare refuse to answer Tristan’s question. "When I arrived this morning, the second young master of the Yates family had just arrived as well. He and Mrs. Lawson went to the cemetery together."

The veins on Tristan’s forehead bulged. He shot Secretary Shaw a frigid glare and strode toward his car.

Terrified, Secretary Shaw hurried after him, explaining anxiously, "CEO Lawson, I was just worried you and Mrs. Lawson would fight over this, so..."

Tristan Lawson got into the passenger seat, not yet closing the door.

Even though Secretary Shaw was standing and thus physically lower, Tristan’s powerful aura was still so oppressive it made the secretary extremely nervous.

"Your bonus for this month is canceled. The next time you dare to take matters into your own hands and not report on Mrs. Lawson’s activities..." Tristan’s voice paused, then took on an even harsher edge. "You can stop working for me!"

SLAM—

Tristan Lawson slammed the car door shut and started the engine.

After driving for a while, Wyatt Yates pulled the car over.

"Little Mute, do you still want to go back?"

Tristan Lawson’s sudden appearance had dampened Noelle Sutton’s spirits.

’I just want to get a divorce. Tristan clearly has someone else in his heart. As soon as we’re divorced, he can live happily ever after with the one he loves.’

From the moment she learned he loved someone else, she had been prepared to step aside.

’But him? Does he really have to force me to continue being Mrs. Lawson, to act as a shield for his forbidden romance with Sophie Hughes?’

’It’s completely pointless.’

Practically everyone in the Lawson family and his circle of friends knew about his affair.

Noelle felt utterly suffocated.

A woman who had gambled everything on her marriage, who had no career and no legal protections within that marriage... facing such a powerful husband, even just trying to get a divorce was an uphill battle every step of the way.

Seven years ago, she had thrown herself into this marriage like a moth to a flame, only to end up driving herself into a dead end.

"Little Mute?"

Wyatt Yates called her nickname softly. He understood perfectly well that Noelle wanted a divorce but couldn’t get one.

As long as Tristan Lawson disagreed, almost no lawyer was willing to take her divorce case.

And she, with so few people to turn to for help, was also worried about dragging him into it.

Noelle turned her head, her sorrowful eyes meeting Wyatt’s gaze. She gave a self-deprecating smile and raised her hands to sign, "Wyatt, am I completely useless?"

"Don’t think like that. I understand how you feel, and I know why you’re afraid to ask me for help. Little Mute, no matter how powerful Tristan Lawson is, we live in a society ruled by law. In your marriage, you both have equal rights. He doesn’t get to have the final say all by himself. If you want a divorce, I’ll find you an international lawyer."

Noelle’s eyelids fluttered in resignation as she continued to sign, "The fact you think you need to find an international lawyer proves my point. So many lawyers here are afraid to take this case. It’s not a question of whether Tristan has the final say—it’s that nobody is willing to offend him. The consequences of crossing him far outweigh any reward for winning the case. Everyone else gets it. Why do you have to wade into these muddy waters?"

Even if Wyatt hired an international lawyer to handle her divorce, it would be the same as him offending Tristan Lawson.

Last time, just for offering to introduce her to a lawyer, Wyatt had already prompted Aunt Rhodes to come find her.

It was obvious that Tristan Lawson had targeted the Yates Group.

A single action could have far-reaching consequences.

It wasn’t that she didn’t trust Wyatt Yates; it was that her own failed marriage didn’t need to drag anyone else down with it.

Wyatt was on the verge of impulsively telling Noelle how he felt about her.

But he managed to restrain himself with reason.

’Saying something like that now would only push her further away.’

He was silent for a moment before speaking. "You’re just too kind. You’re trapped yourself, yet you’re still thinking of others. After what happened last time, I told my father that if Tristan Lawson takes his anger out on the Yates Group because I found you a divorce lawyer, I’ll take full responsibility for my actions."

He was prepared to leave the Yates family.

He wasn’t afraid of Tristan Lawson.

It was just that The Little Mute was still worrying about him.

"You don’t have to offend him for my sake," she signed.

If that happened, Noelle wouldn’t be able to face him anymore.

Wyatt looked at her earnestly and said, "Don’t you want to get a divorce?"

Noelle lowered her head.

’It’s not that I don’t want to.’

’I’ve been wanting to for a very long time.’

’But if Tristan won’t agree, how can I possibly fight him?’

’I’ve actually thought about going to Hugo Sterling, because he dares to stand up to Tristan Lawson.’

’But I don’t know if I can come to an agreement with him.’

’And I’m even less certain if Hugo would be willing to have a complete falling out with Tristan over me.’

’But if I could get Hugo’s help... The relationship between the Lawson Family and the Sterling Family is unusual, and Hugo and Tristan are friends, so it probably wouldn’t hurt Hugo in any critical way.’

Noelle composed herself, looked up, and forced a smile. "I’ll try to figure something out on my own first," she signed. "If I really can’t find a way, I’ll come to you then."

Wyatt didn’t press the issue. Since Noelle no longer planned to return to her old hometown, they drove back to Glenwater together.

Wyatt knew she was serious about the divorce.

So she didn’t hide the fact that she had moved out of Westhill Villa, asking Wyatt to drop her off directly at the entrance of her apartment complex.

Considering Noelle’s mood, Wyatt didn’t ask any more questions.

After Noelle got out of the car, she signed, "Today is the Mid-Autumn Festival. It’s getting late, you should hurry home for your reunion dinner."

"What about you? You’re all alone?"

Wyatt felt a pang of sadness for her.

She had a husband and a son.

Yet on this wonderful holiday meant for reunions, she was all by herself.

He actually wanted to stay and keep Noelle company.

Just then, both Noelle’s and his phones rang at the same time.
