Chapter 125: Chapter 125: The Sterling Family’s Legal Team Dares to Take the Case

The call for Wyatt Yates was from his mother, urging him to come home for dinner.

The call for Noelle Sutton was from Hugo Sterling.

Hugo Sterling hung up immediately after calling, however. Since Noelle Sutton couldn’t speak even if she answered, he was calling to prompt her to check her messages.

Noelle, are you still alone in your small apartment?

It was the Mid-Autumn Festival, and Hugo Sterling considered that if Noelle Sutton didn’t return to the Lawson Family, she might have to spend the holiday alone. He wanted to bring her to the Sterling family’s home.

While Wyatt Yates was on the phone, Noelle Sutton could tell it was Aunt Rhodes calling. After he hung up, Noelle gestured for him to hurry back and waved goodbye.

After Wyatt Yates’s car drove off, Noelle Sutton messaged Hugo Sterling back.

She didn’t want Wyatt Yates’s career and family to be affected any further on her account, so she told Hugo Sterling she was indeed alone in her small apartment.

Hugo Sterling wanted to have Noelle Sutton over for the Mid-Autumn Festival reunion dinner.

Noelle Sutton accepted. Hugo Sterling told her to wait for him at the entrance to her apartment complex, saying he would be there soon.

Hugo Sterling then called Old Master Sterling and told him he had successfully invited Noelle Sutton.

Old Master Sterling was delighted and took out the gift he had prepared for Noelle Sutton.

Hugo Sterling escorted Noelle Sutton to Old Master Sterling’s side and gentlemanly pulled out a chair for her.

Just then, Tristan Lawson had arrived in Glenwater.

Old Master Sterling saw Tristan Lawson’s name flashing on Noelle Sutton’s phone screen.

But Noelle Sutton rejected the call.

’Noelle Sutton had no intention of hiding her situation with Tristan Lawson from the Sterling Family. This was the perfect opportunity to bring it up. Both Hugo Sterling and Old Master Sterling were very kind. Plus, Old Master Sterling wanted to make her his god-granddaughter because of his connection to her grandmother. If she asked the Sterling Family for help with the divorce, maybe she had a chance.’

’How would she know if she didn’t try?’

Seeing Noelle Sutton hang up on Tristan Lawson, Old Master Sterling said with concern, "My dear, did you have a fight with Tristan?"

Earlier today, seeing how empty the house was, Old Master Sterling had remarked to Hugo Sterling that it would be nice if Noelle could join them for the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Hugo Sterling had immediately said he could try asking her.

Old Master Sterling had only been sighing aloud; he hadn’t meant it as a real request. It was a major holiday, and with Old Master Lawson’s traditional values, he would certainly summon Noelle Sutton and Tristan Lawson back to the Lawson estate for a reunion dinner. There was no way Noelle could possibly come to the Sterling family home for dinner.

He never expected Hugo Sterling to actually succeed in inviting her over.

’Unless the young couple had a falling-out, there was no way she would have come to his home for dinner.’

Noelle Sutton typed out a line on her phone and showed it to Old Master Sterling: "We’re not fighting. We’re getting a divorce."

Old Master Sterling’s brows knitted into a knot. "That can’t be. Tristan just publicly acknowledged you at my birthday banquet. Why a sudden divorce?"

Noelle Sutton had no choice but to type again for Old Master Sterling: "I’ve been asking him for a divorce for some time now."

"Grandpa, Noelle hasn’t had dinner yet. Why don’t we talk after we eat?"

’Divorce wasn’t a small matter, and it couldn’t be explained in just a few words.’

Old Master Sterling said, "Alright. Let’s eat first. We can talk after dinner."

The Sterling family’s Mid-Autumn Festival dinner was quite lavish.

However, with only the three of them, the meal didn’t take too long.

After dinner, Old Master Sterling had a servant prepare fruit, which was placed on the living room coffee table. The three of them sat down together. Old Master Sterling personally brewed tea and filled the cups in front of Noelle Sutton and Hugo Sterling. He then took out the gift he had prepared and handed it to Noelle.

"My dear, I wanted to give this to you at the birthday banquet, but you left midway, and I didn’t get a chance to hand it to you. Quick, open it and take a look."

What Old Master Sterling handed her was a booklet. When Noelle Sutton opened it, her eyes widened in an instant. It was a collection of smoked paper-cut patterns! Judging by the technique, it was her grandmother’s work!

Old Master Sterling said kindly, "Recognize it?"

Noelle Sutton nodded.

Old Master Sterling sighed. "I collected these myself. After your grandmother passed away, these patterns are essentially her legacy. I’ve looked at them, and they seem to be her earlier works. She probably didn’t do much smoked paper-cutting later in life, which makes these quite precious. I’ve seen that you’re very skilled at paper-cutting. In your hands, they can achieve their true potential."

Since Old Master Sterling was determined to give them to her, Noelle Sutton didn’t stand on ceremony and gratefully accepted.

Only then did Old Master Sterling begin to ask about Noelle Sutton’s divorce from Tristan Lawson.

Noelle Sutton didn’t go into the detailed reasons for the divorce, giving only a general overview. The gist was that after seven years of a hidden marriage, she was an entirely disposable presence in Tristan Lawson’s life. In order to maintain their household, she had given up and endured a great deal.

Because she couldn’t speak, they felt she was an embarrassment no matter what she did.

Ever since she decided on a divorce, Tristan Lawson had obstructed her at every turn. Worse still, no lawyer dared to take her case against him. All this made her even more determined that she had to go through with the divorce.

She had dedicated all her time to the family, leaving her with almost nothing to her name now, forced to passively accept whatever Tristan Lawson decided.

The decision to stay married or get divorced was entirely in Tristan Lawson’s hands.

She didn’t want to compromise any longer. She wanted to fight for herself. No matter how hard it was, she had to get this divorce and start her own life over.

Old Master Sterling didn’t know the specifics, but Hugo Sterling understood a little better than he did. Tessa Lawson’s attitude toward Noelle Sutton was enough to show how the entire Lawson family felt about her.

What Noelle Sutton had described was quite restrained.

Even though she wanted a divorce, she barely said anything bad about Tristan Lawson.

Old Master Sterling said angrily, "If that’s how it is, then you’re better off divorced! My dear, don’t you worry. Other lawyers might not dare to take his divorce case, but the Sterling Group’s legal department will!"

With that, Old Master Sterling turned and ordered Hugo Sterling, "First thing tomorrow, have the Sterling Group’s legal team liaise with Noelle about her divorce case! The Lawson family dares to treat Noelle like this? I, for one, will not stand for it!"

And just then, as if on cue, Hugo Sterling received a call from Tristan Lawson.
