Chapter 28: Chapter 28: All for Sophie

Tessa Lawson walked in.

The soles of her high heels made a CLICK-CLACK sound against the floor.

Tessa leaned against the wall, casting a cold, disdainful glance at Noelle Sutton. "You’re a mute who was lucky enough to marry Tristan. You should be worshiping the ground he walks on, not pissing him off. No one dares to make him angry, not in this house, not even outside of it. Are you out of your mind?"

On the way over, Tessa had actually given it some serious thought.

Given Noelle’s temperament and personality, it was unlikely she was fooling around with other men.

Besides, Sophie Hughes was back now.

She definitely didn’t want Tristan to get involved with Sophie again. That would be a black stain on his otherwise perfect life.

It was better to persuade Noelle. Winning Tristan’s heart was what mattered most.

Noelle lowered her gaze and said nothing.

Tessa was about to explode with anger. She gritted her teeth. "Fine. You won’t talk, so I will."

Tessa pulled over a chair and sat down opposite her, looking down her nose at Noelle.

"Don’t say I’m not on your side. Just look at your attitude. The line of women who want to marry Tristan probably stretches from one end of the Myre River to the other. You marrying him was harder than winning the lottery. You’re a mute. What do you have to be so proud about? I’m telling you, apologize to Tristan and live your life properly."

Not satisfied, Tessa continued, "Think about it. You have such a wonderful husband, such a smart and adorable son, you live in this huge villa... you’re living a life of luxury. Are you really willing to give all that up?"

Noelle lifted her head to meet Tessa’s arrogant eyes, and she suddenly smiled.

She married Tristan because she loved him, not for his money or his huge villa.

Nor did she covet this life of luxury.

’I’m a mute. Does that mean I deserve to be looked down on by these people?’

Tessa’s brows furrowed in displeasure. "What are you smiling about?"

Noelle took out her phone, typed a line of text, and turned the screen for Tessa to see.

"I don’t care about any of the things you mentioned. Tristan is so wonderful, so whoever wants him can have him."

Tessa shot to her feet, furious.

"I came here with the best intentions to talk some sense into you, and not only are you ungrateful, you say something like that! When someone really does take Tristan away from you, don’t blame me for not warning you!"

With that, Tessa stormed out.

At the doorway, she stopped, turned her head, and added, "You’ll regret this!"

After Tessa left, Noelle still prepared to leave.

She didn’t want to stay in this house for a second longer.

But just as she reached the door, two bodyguards blocked her way.

"Ma’am, CEO Lawson said you are not to leave this villa."

Noelle tightened her grip on the suitcase handle. ’He’s actually serious!’

’It seems I won’t be able to leave today.’

Noelle had no choice but to return to the bedroom, put her suitcase away, and then head toward the study.

When Mrs. Miller saw her come out, she hurried over.

"Ma’am, the Master has finally brought you back."

Noelle gave a helpless smile and walked into the study.

She turned on the computer and drafted a divorce agreement.

The contents were very simple.

The marriage had broken down irretrievably. Divorce. She would leave with nothing.

After finalizing the document, she printed two copies and signed her name on them.

As she stood up with the divorce papers in hand, her gaze fell on a corner next to a bookshelf.

That was where she had once found the piece of paper covered with Sophie Hughes’s name.

A few days later, the paper had disappeared.

Perhaps Tristan had found it and put it away again.

Noelle averted her gaze and returned to the master bedroom with the divorce agreement.

She took her tools out of her suitcase.

She couldn’t neglect the promise she’d made to Joy Rhodes just because she was in a bad mood.

’My time is running out.’

Her grandmother had hoped she would carry on the art of paper-cutting, and she would do as much as she could.

For the sake of love, she had let down the two most important people in her life.

She thought of Director Ford.

The second stop of Director Ford’s touring exhibition was in Glenwater.

She quickly took out her phone and opened the official public account she had added by scanning a QR code last time.

Tickets for the Glenwater exhibition had been on pre-sale for days. The event was in three days at the Glenwater Stadium.

The exclusive sponsor was the Lawson Group.

It seemed Tristan still hadn’t given up on the idea of having Director Ford mentor Sophie Hughes.

She hadn’t realized that Sophie had also studied animation.

After getting married, she had given up her career to take care of her family, completely severing that part of her life. She hardly paid any attention to animation-related news.

Therefore, she didn’t know what works Sophie had produced or what achievements she had made in the field.

But she could guess without even trying that whatever Sophie wanted, Tristan would probably give her the resources to get it.

Just like how he was the exclusive sponsor of Director Ford’s exhibition.

It was all for Sophie.

’The difference between being loved and not being loved is truly clear at a glance.’

Noelle vaguely remembered mentioning to Tristan that she had majored in animation production in college and wanted to continue her work after marriage.

Tristan had disagreed. He wasn’t short on money and could provide her with a high-quality life. He didn’t need her to work and hoped she would focus entirely on the family.

And so, she had thrown herself into it without a second thought.

Noelle pulled herself from her thoughts and booked a ticket for the Glenwater exhibition.

Tristan went to the office to handle some important documents, then headed to the hospital.

Joshua Lawson’s condition had improved significantly, and he was playing a game with Sophie Hughes.

There were smiles on both of their faces.

Tristan couldn’t help but let the corners of his lips curve up slightly.

When Sophie saw him walk in, she said, "Tristan, the doctor says Joshua is doing much better. He can be discharged after two more days of observation."

"Thank you for taking care of him. What gift would you like? I’ll buy it for you."

"What are you talking about? You’re both my family. It’s only natural that I take care of Joshua. Am I doing it just to get a gift from you?"

Joshua quickly chimed in, "Sophie, it was hard work taking care of me. If Dad wants to buy you a gift, you should just take it! Besides, I have a gift for you too."

A happy expression spread across Sophie’s face. "Really? You’ve been stuck in the hospital and you still prepared a gift for me?"

"Yep, I prepared it in advance. When we’re both out of the hospital, you’ll get to see it."

Sophie dotingly pinched Joshua’s little nose and said happily, "In that case, I don’t want your dad’s gift. I just want our Joshua’s gift, okay?"

Joshua snuggled into Sophie’s arms and said gleefully, "Dad helped with my gift too, so it’s kind of from both of us."

"Joshua, you little rascal, you’re good at keeping secrets! You’re making me so curious, I really want to know what it is."

Seeing them get along so well, Tristan’s mood, which had been soured by Noelle, improved considerably.

However, the thought of Noelle wanting to divorce him still made him feel an undeniable sense of irritation.

Tristan ordered dinner for them. He hadn’t been eating well these past few days.

Since Noelle was home today, she would probably have dinner ready. So, he only ate a little, just enough to keep Sophie and Joshua company.

Tristan pushed open the door and walked in...
