I Stepped Aside for Her, Now They Beg My Forgiveness Every Night
Chapter 33: Don’t Push Your Luck
Once, she had desperately wanted to.
For the sake of love, she had stepped back from the limelight.
But now that her life was on a countdown, she didn’t dare to think about it anymore.
Noelle Sutton gave a helpless smile.
She expressed her current thoughts using sign language.
"Noelle said she doesn’t have the energy to let more people see her work right now, but if someone likes it, she can still design for them."
Joy Rhodes said with a wide smile, "That’s great. I had a few friends over, and they saw my window and wall decorations. They all asked where I got them. I’ll introduce you to them when I get the chance. You could earn some extra money that way."
"Mom."
Wyatt Yates interrupted Joy Rhodes.
’Noelle is married to Tristan Lawson, for crying out loud.’
"Noelle’s paper-cuttings are so good. It must be her hobby. Her goal isn’t to make extra money."
"Wyatt, you can’t say that. Good things have their value. Noelle made so many for me, so I must pay her. Besides, if all my friends start asking her to make them and she doesn’t make any money from it, she’ll wear herself out."
After speaking, Joy Rhodes took Noelle Sutton’s hand again and said with concern, "If you have to take care of your husband and child and don’t have much time, you can just make them whenever you have a spare moment. When the time comes, I’ll pay to hold an exhibition for you."
Seeing the portrait of the court lady, Joy Rhodes felt that Noelle Sutton’s paper-cuttings weren’t just ordinary crafts; they were works of art.
And works of art should naturally be admired by more people.
Noelle Sutton quickly began to sign.
Wyatt Yates translated for her.
"Mom, don’t put Noelle in a difficult position. She says her time is very limited and she doesn’t have the energy to hold an exhibition. She can only make a few pieces here and there."
Joy Rhodes felt it was a bit of a pity. This kind of skill was truly rare these days.
What’s more, to reach this level of skill was incredibly rare.
Joy Rhodes sighed, "Does your husband usually not manage things at home? To leave you so pressed for time every day?"
At the mention of her husband, a thin veil of sorrow coated Noelle Sutton’s beautiful eyes.
She signed, "He’s very busy."
"Sigh..." Joy Rhodes heaved another sigh. "No matter how busy he is, he should still pay more attention to his family. You can’t speak, so when you’re out dealing with people and running errands, you’re bound to be less efficient and it must take you more time. As a husband, he should be more considerate of you."
As she spoke, Joy Rhodes took a card from her bag and pressed it into Noelle Sutton’s hand.
"There’s a million in here. Take it."
Noelle Sutton quickly waved her hands and shook her head.
’I only made a few little things, how can I accept so much money?’
Joy Rhodes insisted on giving the card to Noelle Sutton. "I think your work is worth this much. I was actually afraid I didn’t give you enough."
On the other hand, Joy Rhodes also hoped this money would help make Noelle Sutton’s life a little better.
’Noelle comes from an ordinary family and can’t speak. She probably didn’t marry into a very good family, so her life must not be easy.’
Noelle Sutton still felt she couldn’t accept the money. For her former neighbor, making a few pieces was no trouble at all.
Wyatt Yates chimed in, "Noelle, I also think your work is very valuable. A million isn’t too much. Just take it."
Unable to refuse them, Noelle Sutton finally accepted the card. Joy Rhodes then sent the card’s PIN to Noelle.
Noelle Sutton chatted with Joy Rhodes for a while longer. When she was ready to go home, a reluctant Joy had Wyatt Yates drive her.
This time, Noelle Sutton gave Wyatt Yates her home address directly.
Wyatt Yates drove her to Westhill Villa.
After she got out of the car, Wyatt Yates called out to her.
"Noelle, don’t take what my mom said today to heart."
Puzzled, Noelle Sutton signed, "I don’t quite understand. What are you referring to?"
"About her telling you to make paper-cuttings to earn extra money. She doesn’t know you’re married to Tristan Lawson. She probably thought that since you can’t speak, your life might be difficult, so she wanted to introduce you to some business to make some money."
A beautiful curve formed on Noelle Sutton’s lips as her slender, jade-like fingers danced in front of her. "Aunt Rhodes is just concerned about me. I won’t think anything of it."
Wyatt Yates glanced at Westhill Villa, which was many times larger than his own family’s villa.
’There was absolutely no need for Noelle to work for money.’
’Noelle didn’t have a trace of the arrogance or vanity that came with marrying into a wealthy family. She was still willing to make paper-cuttings for his mother and hadn’t revealed her identity.’
’She was still so gentle, kind, humble, and poised.’
’Even though she couldn’t speak, she deserved to be loved and cherished.’
"The Little Mute, is he good to you?"
Wyatt Yates’s sudden question left Noelle Sutton momentarily unsure how to answer.
However, she quickly smiled and signed to Wyatt Yates, "He’s great."
"By the way, that necklace I gave you last time, why aren’t you using it?"
At the mention of the necklace, Noelle Sutton felt quite apologetic.
Fortunately, only the speaker inside the necklace was broken. That day, Tristan Lawson had thrown it on the ground, and then he had forcibly pulled her into the car.
She hadn’t had a chance to go back and pick it up yet.
"I left it at my old home and forgot to bring it with me."
For now, Noelle Sutton could only deceive him like this. She planned to find some time to go back to her old home, see if she could get it repaired somewhere, and then return it to Wyatt Yates.
’It was made with real diamonds. It was too expensive for her to accept.’
"Oh, so that’s why. Once you get it back, make sure to use it often. That way, the device can better adapt to you."
Noelle Sutton nodded.
After Wyatt Yates got back in his car, he half-lowered the window, waved to her, and said, "Goodbye, The Little Mute."
Noelle Sutton watched him leave.
’Actually, Wyatt Yates had changed quite a lot.’
’He’d gone from a street punk to a wealthy young master.’
Noelle Sutton had just averted her gaze when Tessa Lawson’s flashy and eye-catching Maserati pulled up beside her. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Tessa Lawson was tall and stylishly dressed, with a head of chestnut-colored, seaweed-like curls. Her lips were painted with bright red lipstick, and she wore dark sunglasses. She pushed open the car door, fuming.
She pushed her sunglasses up onto her head and glared at Noelle Sutton with a mocking expression. "Tristan isn’t home, and you’ve really got some nerve, bringing your boy toy right to our doorstep!"
Tessa Lawson had gotten a clear look just now; it was the same man who had been with Noelle Sutton at the fabric market the other day.
Tessa Lawson couldn’t understand sign language, so it wasn’t easy for Noelle Sutton to communicate with her.
Besides, Noelle Sutton felt no need to explain these things to Tessa Lawson, so she simply turned and walked toward the villa.
"Hey... you..."
Tessa Lawson quickly chased after her, blocking her path.
"Don’t push your luck."
She had made a special trip here today, and not to bicker with Noelle Sutton.
But Noelle Sutton’s attitude was truly infuriating.
Noelle Sutton looked at Tessa Lawson indifferently.
Only then did Tessa Lawson speak again. "I went to the hospital yesterday. Your precious son only had eyes for Sophie Hughes. I was kind enough to try and persuade him for you, telling him that Sophie Hughes is here to destroy your family. That little brat, he’s so ungrateful, he wouldn’t listen to my advice at all. Noelle Sutton, you need to keep a close watch on your son and your husband."
Noelle Sutton couldn’t help but wonder if she should be happy. After all, it was a rare occasion for her sister-in-law to actually speak up on her behalf.
