Reborn as a Landlord
Chapter 1782 - 909: Resettlement
In the past two years, what Lian Manman heard from others was how Lian Shouyi was making a scene with Lady Zhou. Today, it was her first time witnessing such a situation with her own eyes.
Lady Zhou is detestable, and her behavior makes it hard to sympathize with her. But that doesn’t mean Lian Shouyi’s actions aren’t excessive and repugnant.
If they continue this way, even someone as strong-willed as Lady Zhou might actually, as she said herself, not live long. More importantly, continuing like this is absolutely unacceptable.
It’s time to resolve this matter thoroughly.
"...It’s the property Old Master left you, but you can’t stay here after making such a scene with the old lady," Wu Lang said, "She spoke to us just now. What Old Master left you, what should be yours, is still yours...but you have to find another place to live."
When Wu Lang spoke up, Lian Shouyi’s expression changed several times. Lian Shouyi wasn’t stupid; he knew the weight of everyone’s words within the Lian Family. If Lian Shouxin had said this, he might still argue and resist, but hearing Wu Lang say it seriously, he understood that there was no room for negotiation.
"...This, you’ve reached an agreement, forcing me to move! You’re prying me out! Heaven and earth, only Old Master can pry me away! The old lady is unreasonable, she looks down on me! But you, you’re respectable, reasonable people, you can’t just...bully through power!" Lian Shouyi said, his demeanor and tone showing a bit of bluster.
As Wu Lang spoke, Lady Zhou, seeing Lian Shouyi immediately soften, couldn’t help but show a slight smug expression.
"If we were really bullying through power, we wouldn’t be speaking with you so nicely," Wu Lang said, his face darkening. "Old Master is gone, and it’s the old lady’s words. Moreover, just look at yourself. Not mentioning the past, but just now, your words and actions were enough to merit being disciplined for your rebellion and disrespect."
"If you can’t stay here, who can you blame but yourself? You want to cause trouble, but I have ways to handle your troublemaking. If you behave yourself, naturally, there are benefits for you."
Wu Lang spoke sternly, and Lian Shouyi hung his head. He certainly knew how much dirt on him was in their hands. If they didn’t press him, it was one thing, but if they did, counting old and new grievances together, he would practically have no place to turn.
He lived comfortably these past two years only because Lady Zhou and Lian Shouren couldn’t do anything about him, and Lian Shouxin didn’t fuss either. Furthermore, even if they had nothing on him, with Lian Shouxin’s current influence, whatever they ask of him, he can only comply.
When it came to playing rascally or making a scene, he might try it in front of Lian Shouxin, but even given several more guts, he wouldn’t dare do so in front of Wu Lang.
Seeing Lian Shouyi lower his head, Wu Lang softened his tone slightly.
"It’s just moving to another place; you’re not losing out. The old lady just told us she’d split half of her six acres with you."
Lian Shouyi sat there pondering. Hearing Wu Lang speak like this, moving was an irreversible fact, but gaining an additional three acres was a good thing.
"If anyone else asked me to move, I definitely wouldn’t, not even in death. But since Wu Lang has spoken, I have no objections," after a long pause, Lian Shouyi finally raised his head and deliberately said with false bravado.
Lian Shouyi was quite sly, even at this moment acting as if he were doing Wu Lang a favor.
Wu Lang’s expression didn’t change, and he didn’t comment on Lian Shouyi’s words either way.
"I agree to move, but where am I going to go?" Lian Shouyi asked again.
"Move quickly, and the farther you are from me, the better!" Lady Zhou immediately said, wanting Lian Shouyi to vanish from her sight as soon as possible.
"Where do you want to move?" Wu Lang asked Lian Shouyi.
Lian Shouyi’s eyes darted around, glancing at Lady Zhou, then he chuckled twice.
"As long as I move out of this courtyard, that’s fine, right? Then, okay, I’ll just find someplace nearby. I can’t bear to be too far away. This house my father left behind, I can’t live in, but can’t I come back often to have a look?" he said with a sly smile.
This was clearly a way to confront Lady Zhou, trying not to let her have an easy life.
"No, letting you stay nearby so you can come and irritate me every day? Definitely not, you get out, and go far away!" Lady Zhou shouted, quickly appealing to Lian Shouxin and Wu Lang, "Old Fourth, Wu Lang, make him go far away from this village! Just hearing his voice makes my heart thump."
