Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations
Chapter 1392: Trevor Is Truly Wonderful
The hospital was still bustling with people coming and going. Many patients had come specifically for him. Ian Shelby, in his scrubs, was doing a consultation for a patient in his office. He was gentle and composed, highly professional and full of patience.
"There’s a difference between a bone crack and a fracture. Since it hurts this much, it’s better to take an X-ray first and have a look, okay?" Ian’s voice was mild.
"Sure, since I’m here, I’ll just do whatever the doctor says."
Jocelyn was sitting in the inner cubicle writing her novel. To outsiders, days like this would seem very boring.
But to her, it felt like a wonderful kind of companionship, breathing the air of the same room with him.
Trevor’s car stopped downstairs. He walked into the hospital lobby and was waiting for the elevator upstairs.
In one suite, David Dalton was frowning at his phone. He had just received his son’s call, and couldn’t help feeling a bit heavy. What on earth had happened?
He wanted to come to the hospital and talk in person?
In David Dalton’s view, anything that couldn’t be explained clearly over the phone was a big deal.
But ever since Trevor took over the company, he had never been like this. He could handle anything calmly, and even the trickiest problems were no issue for him.
As a father, he couldn’t help being worried, restless by the second.
Ethan Dalton was alone in the inner room, playing with idiom-chain cards.
"Auspicious stars shine bright, follow the cat to draw the tiger, the tiger falls on flat land..." He was muttering under his breath, genuinely trying to memorize them.
He really remembered Janelle’s instructions: he had to store the idioms in his mind, so he could win when they played games.
When Trevor appeared at the suite door, David Dalton’s heart subconsciously tightened. He hurriedly asked, "Trevor, what on earth happened?"
Meeting his father’s gaze, Trevor paused for a second and felt that strong fatherly love.
Then he smiled, speaking in a relaxed tone. "It’s not about work. Everything’s going smoothly at work, don’t worry."
David Dalton looked him over, then let out a breath of relief. "Sit."
"Young Master." Butler Warren greeted him with a beaming smile, then brewed some tea and quietly withdrew.
"Dad." Trevor sat down in the chair and got straight to the point. "Are you close with Uncle Mills?"
"You mean Nathan Mills?"
"Yeah." Trevor lifted his eyes to his father and asked again, "When did he get married the second time? And how’s his relationship with this second wife?"
The question really stumped his father. David Dalton looked like he didn’t know a thing.
Trevor was taken aback as well. "What? You don’t know?" Weren’t they on pretty good terms?
The middle-aged man held his teacup and shook his head. "That I really don’t know." He tried hard to recall.
"His love life... we really haven’t talked about it. He’s never brought it up on his own either. But we’re fairly close in private. He’s a very good businessman, and he almost never talks about family matters with anyone."
There was something like that?
A thought flashed through Trevor’s mind: did Uncle Mills even have a second marriage?
If he did, how could this new wife never have shown her face?
Like at the company’s annual party, or a charity gala—those occasions where you need a female companion, he would take her along, right?
Trevor had already searched on Baidu, and there was no news online about this new wife of his.
"Okay, I get it." Trevor looked thoughtful, then asked, "You know where he lives, right?" He had the feeling he needed to get to the bottom of this.
"That I know, but I haven’t been there in years."
So David Dalton gave him an address. Trevor memorized it carefully. He decided to go over after work today and see for himself.
Because he had a strong premonition that Uncle Mills was very likely single.
In other words, Trevor had silently taken Janelle’s wish into his heart, and he wanted to fulfill it for her.
