100X Return System: My Talent Awakening Becomes a God-Level Cheat
Chapter 99: Invitation
"Hold on, are you serious?" The vice chairman asked, looking at George with a perplexed expression.
"Of course I am." George replied.
"But we don’t know anything about him, as far as we are concerned he’s a ghost with a strange background.". The vice chairman was very persistent in talking George out of inviting Aegon into his guild but George didn’t seem to be listening.
"Well, a background is a background. I don’t see what is wrong with what he has." George spoke out, looking at the vice chairman with a calm and satisfied expression.
Charlotte, who wanted to stay out of this conversation, suddenly saw there was no way she could and decided to add her own opinion, "He was in sleep for three years. Doesn’t that tell you anything? For all we know something might have happened to him for him to be in a slumber for that long."
George shifted his gaze from the vice chairman to Charlotte, while she was still speaking.
"Truth me, " she says. "I was in a hospital for a little while and I know this. Although I didn’t hear about him. But, I did hear that the people who lost consciousness during that day woke up a day or two afterwards."
"There was no news of a person sleeping for more days than the other. If there was such a news I would have heard about it and gone to inspect myself."
George nodded to her words, but didn’t still seem convinced yet. "I have no doubt that you’d have Charlotte, after all you are the number one goodness of healing in the entire country."
Hearing him compliment her, Charlotte immediately became flustered, her cheek red. They instantly took her eyes off him facing a different direction.
Quincy noticed what had just happened. He didn’t see anything but looked at George for a half a second and back at Charlotte.
In his heart, he wondered, ’What is going on between these two?’
It was a mystery but there was not much evidence to come to a conclusion so he dismissed the thought off his head.
Seeing that George was not yet convinced from what Charlotte had said, the vice chairman spoke out, "After he woke up, his sister went missing and suddenly he became an awakener and entered the abyss. Doesn’t this sound strange to you?"
They had already left the main topic on ground and were more focused on this mysterious awakener, Aegon, and this was already disturbing Julius.
In his heart, he thought, ’These people have diverted from what they can here to discuss and are neo focused on a mere low rank awakener?’
’Who even is this awakener? I’ve never heard of him. Oh, he just awakened recently but why is his matter suddenly hot?’
Julius was scanning everyone, looking at how they were trying to convince George not to take him yet since they didn’t know anything about him.
It was the job of the association to make every awakener registered with them after their awakening.
This would lead the association to have complete details of the person’s information, yet there was one they couldn’t get entirely.
This was what was bugging the vice chairman.
As a member and among top people in the association, it was disturbing that he didn’t have complete information on Aegon.
Although, must do this is because he felt like he had disappointed the Chairman, and failed to do his work, but, the chairman didn’t show any expression of being displeased with his work.
"Alright tell me," the vice chairman began, "Why do you want to recruit this man even after hearing all these?"
George looked perplexed by the question, "Do I need a reason to want to recruit someone into my ranks? Is there a rule that says there must be a reason before an awakener can join a guild?"
"As far as I am concerned, once an individual has awakened and registered in the association, they can either choose to join a guild or not. It’s of their own choice."
The question hit hard on the vice chairman, which even made the chairman display a slight smile on his face.
Everyone had their attention on the vice chairman waiting for how he was going to respond to George’s question.
Then he did, "Of course there’s no rule that demands a reason before an awakener joins a guild. But I do think it’s always wise to know who it is that is joining your ranks."
"If you don’t have a full detail on the person and you allow them. What say they were a criminal before they awakened? And after that they joined a guild for the money, they continue to do whatever criminals do."
"If they are caught at some point don’t you realize that the guild master and the member would face the consequences? Similar to what the chairman had just said a while ago."
The room was quiet after he had said this. Everyone was already tired of the endless discussion.
They were all seated so it didn’t affect them that much, but the person who did it was the assistant of the chairman.
At this moment, she had already gone back to standing at the door, after she had delivered the information on Aegon.
She was tired of standing, and from the collapse that happened her strength has been cut into half.
So to make up for this, she leaned on the door, supporting herself until the meeting was over.
The silence suddenly broke when George asked, "What are you so afraid of John?" He called the name of the vice chairman.
This immediately shocked the vice chairman because no one called him his full name, only his title.
However, the way George had called him, felt it was his mother calling and asking the questions.
"I-I am not afraid of anything. I am just warning you... don’t try and recruit him."
"Well too bad," George uttered, "I have already sent my recruiters to him."

Meanwhile, at the hospital.
Aegon was seated on the chair provided beside the bed of the patient.
He was looking at Maureen, her splendid eyes dazzling with grace. Although she looked slim, her appearance was still very kept.
Aegon couldn’t take his eyes off her as he had just gotten her back. She was not dead, but sleeping.
"I’m sorry I wasn’t there so save you," he said while taking his left hand out and placing it on her forehead.
Her forehead was warm, her temperature stable and in good health. His lips curved up into a smile knowing this, but just then he heard a knock on the door.
Aegon didn’t want disturbance but since he thought it would be the doctor or nurse he responded
"Come in!"
At this moment, the doors opened widely and three individuals walked into the room.
One was the nurse who bowed down in respect to Aegon, while the other two were men in black suits and black shades.
Aegon was puzzled, but just then one of the men spoke out.
"Good day, Aegon Zoldyck, apologies for arriving at such a delicate moment, we are sorry for your loss."
Hearing this Aegon spoke out quickly with a cold voice. "She’s not dead!"
"Oh my apologies," the man that spoke apologized.
"So, who are you and what are you here for?" Aegon asked, still in his cold tone.
"Ah right, we are from the Integrity Guild and have come to offer to you an invitation to join our guild, willed by the Guild Master himself, George Stormborn!"
