70s Delicate Girl: A Guide to Being a Rich Woman
Chapter 491: Mr. Huo’s Intentions
Xu Mumu felt a little regretful not seeing any excitement at home.
However, after a bit of gossip about these two people’s matters, Xu Mumu put it aside, as she had quite a few important things to do.
Lin Zhengze’s efficiency was quite high; in just a couple of days, he got Xu Mumu the computer she wanted, with the CAD system installed for her to use for drawing, which was perfect.
In her past life, she was quite familiar with these kinds of software and even had specific CAD courses. At this time, the basic functions of CAD were still available, though not as convenient as in later years.
After obtaining what she wanted, Xu Mumu was very happy.
The work for the graduation project began, but since the current computer wasn’t connected to the internet, Xu Mumu found it hard to adjust. She was used to looking things up online, but now these functions were unavailable.
However, getting this computer was only for drawing purposes; the materials she needed had to be found by herself in the library.
While Xu Mumu was busy with her graduation project, she seldom attended classes.
While Xu Mumu was occupied with her work, an unexpected guest came to her home.
Looking at the middle-aged man in a suit in front of her, Xu Mumu realized from his self-introduction that this was Huo Qingze’s father, the one whom Huo Qingze resented and used.
"Uncle, what brings you to see me?" Xu Mumu wore a gentle smile. Though Mr. Huo’s aura was not weak after years in high positions, Xu Mumu did not feel intimidated at all. In the post-apocalyptic world, the stronger the superpower user, the stronger their presence. Mr. Huo’s aura was nothing to her.
"I’m here for Qingze’s sake. I know Qingze is close with you all." Mr. Huo looked at Xu Mumu, surprised by how this girl had no fear against him, treating him as an ordinary person.
"Qingze is doing fine, so what’s Uncle looking for him for?" Xu Mumu slightly raised an eyebrow. She seemed to know his intention already. Huo Qingze had also mentioned to Yin Yang that his father always wanted him to enter the civil service. Although this was something many people dreamed of, Huo Qingze neither needed nor cared for it. He resented his father and chose a completely different path. Instead of entering the bureaucracy, he preferred making money.
"For Qingze, I hope he goes into politics. Mr. Xu understands what I mean, right?" Mr. Huo looked at Xu Mumu. He had heard of this girl’s abilities. Huo Qingze was his only son, and he had investigated those who interacted with him, including Xu Mumu and Yin Yang.
"Uncle should talk to Qingze about this. Telling me is useless." Xu Mumu smiled calmly and poured a cup of tea for Mr. Huo. She had no intention to get involved in the father-son dispute. She and Huo Qingze were only ordinary friends, so she had no right to tell him what to do.
"It’s just that they don’t listen when I speak. You and your husband are friends with Qingze; he might listen to you a bit." Mr. Huo sighed lightly, playing the emotional card. "Qingze is my only son, and I don’t want to leave no successors for myself."
"We and Qingze are just in a cooperative relationship; he won’t listen to what we say." Xu Mumu’s smile faded slightly.
"You all just need to help persuade Qingze a little." Mr. Huo took a sip of tea, looking at Xu Mumu.
"I’ll relay your message to him." Xu Mumu pressed her lips together, looking at Mr. Huo. Passing on the message was all she planned to do; she wouldn’t consider persuading Qingze.
Mr. Huo looked at Xu Mumu, as an experienced political figure, he could easily pick up on the underlying meanings in her words.
"I know you’re all busy with the matters in Shengjiang and what you’re trying to achieve; you don’t want your project over there to be delayed, do you?"
"Uncle has control over everything?" Xu Mumu raised her eyebrow slightly, unafraid. Perhaps he did have some connections, but Yin Yang had given Huo Qingze evidence of his father’s misconduct. If he dared to actually do anything, Huo Qingze would surely deal with him first.
"Not really, but I can manage small things. It depends on what you all decide to do." Mr. Huo sipped his tea calmly, unsure if this girl was truly fearless or just naive about the complexities involved. He leaned toward the former.
After sending Mr. Huo off, Xu Mumu didn’t feel too good and immediately called Yin Yang.
Yin Yang was surprised to receive the call. Usually, Xu Mumu would call in the evenings when he wasn’t busy. His considerate wife avoided disturbing him during the day.
After hearing what Xu Mumu said on the call, Yin Yang was speechless. Apparently, Huo Qingze’s father hadn’t given up yet.
"I’ll relay it to Qingze shortly, don’t worry. He can’t affect us here." Yin Yang comforted Xu Mumu warmly. He felt that Mr. Huo had been in his position for too long and was becoming too complacent. He pondered how to give him some trouble.
After pondering a while without any good ideas, it seemed best to leave the father-son power struggle to Huo Qingze.
Talking with Yin Yang for a while improved Xu Mumu’s mood, and she started caring about his situation.
The piece of mountain land Yin Yang’s team contracted hadn’t been fully cleared yet; it was still being prepared, which would take quite some time.
The branch office also had many issues, and the other industries under the Yin Family were gradually reopening nationwide.
Huo Qingze had also been expanding his enterprises nationwide and was currently busy with that.
Upon knowing from Yin Yang that his father had approached them, Huo Qingze’s expression turned somber. He called his father, strengthening their shaky father-son bond, and successfully turned the tables, bringing his father back in line.
Upon learning the outcome from Yin Yang, Xu Mumu once again marveled at how useful the information provided by Yin Yang was. As soon as Qingze relayed a bit, his father complied.
With Mr. Huo no longer bothering them, Xu Mumu returned to her busy routine, renovating lab equipment, occasionally lending the lab to classmates.
Xu Mumu’s graduation project didn’t take much time to complete. Although the project had some difficulty, it wasn’t hard for her.
After finishing the design, she had to start writing the thesis. Writing theses always gave Xu Mumu headaches. She could explain her design ideas concisely in a few sentences, but the thesis required detailed steps for each part, the design concepts, the purpose and application of the design, and clearly citing all the references used.
