A Dragon against the Whole World
Chapter 293 - 264: Galos’s Golden Throne
The piercing north wind swept across Dragon Valley.
Red Dragon Samantha had already returned to Black Iron Plain, and Iron Dragon Solrog had also set off, returning to its original stationed base.
At this moment, Red Silver Dragon Deborah stood on the highest watchtower, tapping her tail tip with interest, drawing her gaze back from afar and turning towards the newly arrived Red Iron Dragon, who had just folded its massive wings and landed steadily on the platform.
"Galos, I just realized, the ’Dragon Talents’ under your command are truly extraordinary, completely different from those ordinary Evil Dragons I’ve known before."
She said with a hint of amazement: "The calm and rational Iron Dragons, capable of immensely restraining their primitive desires; the hot-tempered Red Dragons who can calm down to conduct alchemy research; and the White Dragons showing astonishing wisdom in such harsh and stormy weather..."
Deborah blinked her bright Dragon Eyes, the admiration in her tone becoming increasingly apparent.
"In short, it’s simply incredible."
From the moment the young dragons were brought back, to their talks with the elder dragons, and then the appearance of the White Dragon, whose haughty attitude towards the young ones... She had been silently observing everything from the high platform, particularly shaken by the ecological niche theory articulated by the White Dragon.
She never expected it.
Commonly regarded as the most dull-witted among the Dragon Race, the White Dragon could propose such profound and philosophical ideas.
This was knowledge never before seen in the inheritance.
If the Five-Colored Dragon Race could largely recognize and adhere to this set of ecological niche theories to survive, avoiding unnecessary early death, successfully passing through the most fragile and challenging initial growth phase.
Deborah pondered, given time, the number of Five-Colored Dragons would surely experience an explosive growth.
Unbidden, a scene appeared in her mind:
One by one, the supposed flamboyant Evil Dragons secretly lurking, enduring humiliation, suppressing their nature until they grew strong enough to openly bully, venting their long-suppressed anger in a retaliatory manner... Just imagining such a scene sent a shiver through Red Silver Dragon’s heart.
By then.
If the Metal Dragon Race fails to find an effective coping strategy, perhaps they might truly be completely overwhelmed by the Evil Dragon side.
However, she thought again, such a scenario is actually unlikely to occur.
The deeply ingrained nature of the Dragons is just there.
Only White Dragon Trish, as the founder of this theory, genuinely understands, appreciates, and realizes its essence from the heart, allowing her to endure the world’s insults without psychological burden, willingly lowering her ecological niche.
If it were any other Dragon, it would probably be impossible to achieve her kind of ’transcendent’ mindset and resilience.
However, regardless, as long as the young Evil Dragons can cultivate a bit more patience for hibernation and less blind impulsive arrogance, their overall survival rate can thereby be improved.
Once this theory spreads, it inevitably can produce some positive effects, more or less.
Not only applicable to Evil Dragons but also to Metal Dragons just the same.
There are quite a few cases of Metal Dragons, sheltered by elders and relying on noble blood, provoking far stronger enemies when young, ultimately being killed in the unchecked anger of their enemies without regard for consequences.
She thought carefully, breaking through some cognitive limitations, suddenly realizing that the Dragons gathered around Galos seem not simply as before, but rather some kind of evolution on the original basis.
"And who are they serving under?"
Red Iron Dragon Galos said indifferently, with an air of self-evidence: "What kind of leader, what kind of followers."
Upon hearing this almost boastful remark, Red Silver Dragon uncommonly did not retort, instead nodding thoughtfully: "Like attracts like, and Dragons indeed associate in groups... that’s the logic."
Her gaze wandered over the imposing and majestic massive body of Red Iron Dragon, examining and observing.
"Every word and deed of the Master of the Dragon Clans will profoundly impact the Dragons under his command."
She sincerely admired, "Apart from occasionally revealing a little harmless vanity, Galos, your will is as steadfast as iron, self-discipline and tenacity are admirable, your prudence is flawless, and you possess exceptional foresight... On you, I can hardly find any obvious flaws."
"Using your presence as an example and core, the Dragons gathering around you are thus made extraordinary, exhibiting traits surpassing their kind, which is extremely possible."
(These words I love to hear, keep them coming.)
Red Iron Dragon subtly gave Deborah an encouraging look, as if silently suggesting she might say a few more words of compliment.
"What about me, what about me?"
At this moment, a crisp, lively voice rang out.
From a small door in the side tower, the petite and nimble body of Elf Dragon Vera emerged from a hidden attic.
She joyfully circled around the massive head of the Red Silver Dragon a few times, finally hovering steadily in front of Deborah, her delicate face full of eager anticipation as she asked impatiently:
"What makes me different from other Elf Dragons?"
"You’re smart!"
The Red Silver Dragon responded almost without thinking, a smile in her voice: "Vera, you are definitely the smartest Elf Dragon I’ve ever seen!"
Hearing this familiar compliment, Galos glanced at the Red Silver Dragon with a hint of surprise, while the latter gave him a knowing wink, revealing a mutual understanding.
The excited Elf Dragon was evidently oblivious to the small exchange between the two.
She happily twirled and danced in the air, her colorful wings swiftly flapping, shedding a sprinkling of shimmering magic dust that gently fell, illuminating the surroundings brightly.
"Yes! I’m the smartest Elf Dragon!"
She proudly declared.
Vera stopped and affectionately nuzzled her cheek against the cold, hard face armor of the Red Silver Dragon, then cheerfully proposed: "Deborah, do you want to play a riddle game now? The smartest Elf Dragon is always ready to join in!"
"Sure!"
The Red Silver Dragon agreed with delight and turned to invite the Red Iron Dragon: "Galos, would you like to join us?"
The Red Iron Dragon shook his head slightly, his voice carrying a barely detectable trace of fatigue: "No, I’m a bit tired and need to rest."
The earlier intense training and battle had left him with a bit of fatigue from deep within his body. It was time to take some rest and relaxation, as he had always understood the importance of balancing work and rest.
Soon, the Red Silver Dragon and the Elf Dragon remained on the spacious lookout, starting their riddle game.
Meanwhile, the Red Iron Dragon turned and walked into the depths of the Burning Steel Castle.
This magnificent fortress was clearly structured, divided from top to bottom into four levels.
In the Dragon Race’s strict hierarchy, status was often closely linked to height.
Thus, the highest fourth level was Galos’s exclusive personal domain, and without his explicit permission or official summons, neither his Followers nor other Dragons were allowed to enter.
This level housed Galos’s residence and a trophy room displaying his glorious achievements, along with other core spaces.
The vast treasure trove accumulated in the Dragon Valley had also been fully relocated and placed here, right next to Galos’s living quarters.
The third level served as the magnificent grand hall where the Giant Dragons discussed important matters.
The space was extremely vast and open, supported by several immensely thick giant pillars, with a stone floor and small doors for attendants to enter and exit, as well as wide stone platforms for the Dragons to comfortably crouch or perch on. Most striking was the Golden Throne, placed in a position of honor, symbolizing supreme authority and reserved exclusively for the Master of the Dragon Clans.
This throne was structurally different from conventional seating, designed to fit the large and unique curves of the Dragon bodies.
It was forged from rare gold and mixed with various sturdy precious metals, with its surface intricately engraved with runes that would allow it to retain its dazzling luster for a long time, currently emitting a radiant golden glow, silently proclaiming the supreme status and power it represented.
It’s worth mentioning that both the third and fourth levels had high platforms with direct access to the outside.
This meant that Dragons adept at flying could land directly from the air without having to pass through the first or second levels.
The second level of the Burning Steel Castle primarily served as a foyer and reception area.
If in the future there was a need to meet important attendant representatives or have formal meetings with other Dragons, they would be arranged on this level.
As for the lowest first level, it was the daily dwelling place for the fortress guards and attendant servants.
The main force responsible for guarding the Burning Steel Castle included elite warriors such as Violent Bears, Flying Dragons, and Ogres, who had been rigorously selected; while the attendant group mainly consisted of handpicked Snakefolk, among whom were some who even had the capabilities of a Mage or Shaman.
It’s noteworthy that all the attendants were female.
Even though Galos did not personally request it.
Considering the vigorous possessiveness of male Dragon Lords, and the potential enhancement of their own clans if they could bear Dragon Descendant offspring, his followers, when providing attendants, had all intuitively chosen beautiful and pure females.
