A second chance with my billionaire husband
Chapter 1842 - 431: A Wretched Life, Far Too Miserable
The room was soundproofed so well that not a hint of noise could be heard, which made it seem particularly serene.
Yun Ya lay on the bed, the soft silk quilt pressed against her skin, incredibly comfortable, as if she were lying in a pile of cotton. However, Yun Ya kept tossing and turning, unable to sleep. π§ππππΈπ¦π£πππ·ππ.π€π°π
In the middle of the night, Yun Ya got up, draping clothes over her shoulders, opened the door, and walked out. Xiao Nan was dozing off while standing guard at the door, and the moment the door opened, she straightened up reflexively, raising her eyes to look at Yun Ya.
Yun Ya glanced at her and stepped outside. The lobby on the first floor was brightly lit, as if it were daylight, and the whole building was so quiet that you could hear a pin drop.
Xiao Nan followed closely behind Yun Ya.
Yun Ya arrived at the first-floor lobby, where the glass doors leading outside were tightly closed; they could only be opened with iris recognition.
Outside the glass doors, in the central plaza, patrols of troops passed by from time to time.
Yun Ya walked up the stairs, and each floor had the same layout, luxurious, grand, and magnificent, quiet everywhere, without a trace of human presence.
Every room door was tightly shut. Despite the buildingβs lavish and elegant opulence, it lacked any hint of vitality, like a dead building.
Yun Ya reached the staircase corner on the fourth floor, looked up at the stairs leading to the fifth floor, and was about to step up when Xiao Nan suddenly pulled her back, gently shaking her head.
"Why?"
Yun Ya asked softly.
Xiao Nan just shook her head, suddenly pulling Yun Ya back to her room. Xiao Nan closed the door and dragged Yun Ya to a blind spot of the surveillance, quickly mouthing words without making a sound.
Yun Yaβs gaze became unpredictable, ultimately settling into calmness, as she faintly curved her lips.
Xiao Nan said the fifth floor was forbidden, and servants were not allowed to enter. Except for the queenβs summons, entering would mean punishment by death; being discovered would lead to execution. To them, the servants, the fifth floor was Hell, and she told Yun Ya not to go up. Although the building was quiet, as if empty, they were actually being watched by unknown eyes, including their every move now, all under surveillance.
"Really? What if I went and got executed?" Yun Ya said with a half-smile.
Xiao Nan was stunned, right, the lady was different from them, the lowly servants...
Yun Ya patted her on the shoulder, smiling: "The more you say, the more curious I become."
With that, she walked out. Xiao Nan pressed her lips and jogged to catch up.
Yun Ya took each step up the stairs to the fifth floor, her expression becoming more resolute with each step down. Xiao Nan stood at the fourth-floor hallway, watching helplessly as Yun Yaβs figure was swallowed by darkness, anxiously pacing back and forth.
The first-floor lobby was straight to the fourth floor; hence the fifth floor was different from the four below. Yun Ya saw Luminous Pearls displayed on both sides, like stars illuminating the night in the vast cosmos, extending into the distant darkness.
Yun Ya walked in, the darkness seemingly endless. She kept walking until a tightly closed door appeared before her.
Yun Ya reached out to push open the massive door, the intense light stabbing her eyes painfully. She hurriedly raised her hand to shield her eyes, waiting for them to adjust to the brightness before finally looking inside.
A long corridor extended ahead, a massive crystal chandelier overhead reflecting brilliant splendor, so intense it seemed to dispel the endless night.
Yun Ya stepped in, winding through the corridor. Suddenly, a figure emerged, startling Yun Ya, who steadied herself and retreated a step, staring coldly at the man before her.
The man came respectfully, smiling, his skin as pale as a ghostβs: "Miss, this is not a place you should be."
Yun Ya sneered: "If thatβs the case, Iβll leave then."
With that, she turned to leave, glancing back at the door, where the man stood under the intense light, his smile increasingly sinister. The enormous door slowly closed, the crack revealing his slightly curved lips until the door completely shut the view away.
Yun Ya pressed her lips, thinking this place too eerie, and swiftly left the fifth floor.
Xiao Nan was right; her every move here was indeed under surveillance. This sensation felt unbearably awful.
Seeing Yun Ya come down from the fifth floor, Xiao Nanβs eyes lit up with delight, immediately hurrying forward to meet her.
Yun Ya waved her hand, and Xiao Nan silently followed behind.
Back in the room, Yun Ya lay on the big bed, eyes open, staring at the ceiling, and unknowingly fell asleep, only to be awakened by a nightmare.
She woke with a start, wiping away the sweat covering her head, panting heavily, her confused eyes staring at the unfamiliar surroundings, taking a long while to come back to reality.
Outside, the morning sun rose, casting a gentle light through the fluttering lace curtains onto the silk quilt.
Xiao Nan entered, followed by Ah Hua, seeing Yun Ya awake, they pushed in a clothes rack adorned with various designer clothes for Yun Ya to choose from.
Yun Ya looked at the complex colors, feeling a headache, randomly pointing at one. Xiao Nan brought the garment forward, intending to assist Yun Ya in dressing.
