Achieving Demon Godhood from Unlocking Talents
Chapter 92 - 83: Wilderness Mutant Beasts, Gathering Point
A massive concrete wall, like a heavenly pass, stood dozens of meters high, stretching across the landscape.
It seemed to separate the entire Rhombus Ring City Circle from the wilderness, as magnificent and sturdy as the Great Wall, extending in a circle so far that one couldn’t see its ends to the left or right.
An asphalt road about ten meters wide served as the only passage to the outside world.
Upon closer inspection, one could see several abnormally thick, massive metal gates suspended and retracted, seemingly arranged and hidden within the wall above the tunnel’s entrance.
"This is the Ring Wall. There are only four passages in total."
A convoy, led by an armored car, drove slowly, coming to a brief stop at the wall’s exit.
A dozen or so soldiers from the Mechanical Violence Team in black combat suits, armed with live ammunition, leaped from the vehicles. They patrolled the vicinity, maintaining guard, and recounted the vehicles and supplies.
Meanwhile, personnel from the accompanying City Defense Department got out and walked over to communicate with the guards stationed at the exit.
"According to legend, back in the old era, Beast Tides were frequent."
"Hordes of Mutant Beasts, numbering in the thousands or even tens of thousands, would charge into human settlements. They were vicious and rabid, trampling everything in their path and causing one disaster after another."
Lu Chao sat in a patrol SUV in the middle of the convoy, listening as Chen Xiao, in the driver’s seat, explained the situation to him.
His tone was full of emotion, and he too looked at the wall before them with a mix of wonder and admiration.
"Back then, the Alliance Country hadn’t been established yet, and Ring City was just one of many sanctuary cities in the wilderness."
"To fend off the Mutant Beast disasters, Ring City, under the call of Robert and six other heroes, united with other shelters in the wilderness. They paid a tremendous price to build this wall, which is how our civilization managed to survive."
"Of course, there are also rumors that this place was a city in what was once the Xia Country during an even earlier age. It’s also said to be the childhood home of our predecessor, Robert. Who knows if it’s true or not..."
As he spoke, Lu Chao’s expression flickered. Images of the wasteland era seemed to flash through his mind.
Countless people poured their blood, sweat, and tears into building the wall.
Heroes led elite warriors, fearlessly charging into the oncoming beast hordes to defend the last bastion of human dignity.
"Check your gear and supplies again. Make sure there are no issues."
Suddenly, Yang Wangtao, who was sitting in the back of the SUV, spoke. Beside him was another young team member named Wang Shisong.
In addition to their patrol uniforms, both men wore a layer of thick, black gear.
"Yes, Captain."
Lu Chao quickly snapped back to attention. He nodded and began to check his own equipment.
He was also wearing the same thick, black gear over the top of his torso. It was a bulletproof vest issued from the Patrol Department’s armory. Besides resisting small-caliber bullets and absorbing most of the impact, it also offered some protection against common metal weapons like knives and daggers.
In addition to that,
KLICK!
Lu Chao drew a black pistol from his waist. This was the first time he had been formally issued a firearm since becoming a Level 2 Patrol Officer.
He had trained with firearms several times over the past month, but unfortunately, his talent was mediocre, and his aim was average at best.
"On this trip to the wilderness, even though we have the Superpower Bureau and the Mechanical Violence Team with us, and the City Defense Department guiding the way..."
"But... the wilderness is unpredictably dangerous. Both the Mutant Beasts and the warlords pose a significant threat."
Yang Wangtao’s expression was grave as he checked his own firearm and magazines. He made sure to remind the other three, "First and foremost, we have to rely on ourselves. We can’t let our guard down."
"When the time comes, we all have to make it back safely."
He said in a low voice, his eyes sweeping over the three of them.
Immediately, Chen Xiao and the other man nodded solemnly. Lu Chao also responded with a serious expression.
A short while later, the convoy started moving again.
The Mechanical Violence Team’s armored car led the way, while a sonic boom ripped through the air above.
Lu Chao looked up slightly and clearly saw the Superpower Bureau’s hover cars, trailing flames from their engines, as they shot out into the wilderness ahead of them.
In an instant, with no further hesitation, the convoy drove out from behind the wall, plunging into the wilderness like a sword, completely unimpeded.

...
The desolate, brown earth stretched to the horizon, dotted with trees whose leaves were yellow and withered.
A pothole-ridden asphalt road snaked its way across the land, with numerous vines and weeds growing in the cracks of its broken surface.
Patches of weeds and thickets ran wild on both sides of the road, obscuring the view.
In the distance, dust clouds occasionally rose from the earthen slopes, carried about by the gentle breeze.
"Looks like our luck’s pretty good today. We actually managed to hunt down two Blood Pattern Python Beasts."
"You’re not wrong. The disciples from Jinshi Boxing Hall really know their stuff. If you were to fight one of those things one-on-one, even a seasoned professional would have a hard time taking it down, yet they managed to kill it."
"Heh, did you forget the City Defense Department helped out too? If it weren’t for those few shots hitting vital spots and piercing its scales, you think he could’ve killed it so easily?"
"Alright, alright, stop being so sour. The guy’s a True Disciple of Master Luo, after all. His name’s Shen... Shen what’s-his-name?"
The voices came from a certain area in the wilderness. Looking over, one could see six or seven SUVs and a transport truck parked on the side of the road.
Several elites from the City Defense Department in combat suits and armed with live ammunition were scattered around the perimeter. They wore wireless earpieces, kept a lookout, and maintained high alert. Several drones also hovered in the air, scanning the environment from all angles.
With them and their vehicles forming a border, the area had been temporarily converted into a makeshift camp.
And in the center, more than twenty figures could be seen scattered about.
Some were squatting next to the carcasses of several saber-toothed boars and Blood Pattern Python Beasts, using military daggers to cut away the meat and harvest the most valuable parts, which they planned to take back to the city to sell.
Others were corporate security guards clustered around some young men and women of high status, vigilantly protecting them and even preparing self-heating lunches and drinking water for them.
