Chapter 62: Chapter 62: What Exactly Am I to You?

Seeing her designer bags and clothes being thrown out of the building, Sharon Lowe rushed over in a panic and started grappling with Eve Vaughn.

But she didn’t know that Eve Vaughn was trained in Taekwondo.

Sharon Lowe not only failed to get the upper hand, but she was also kicked by Eve Vaughn, sending her sprawling to the floor, unable to get back up.

And all her belongings were tossed out, without a single thing left behind.

Once everything was gone, Eve Vaughn dusted off her hands and leisurely strolled back from the balcony.

She crouched down, looked at Sharon Lowe’s pained face, and enunciated each word, "This is just getting even. I still haven’t paid you back for the dead rat. You’d better watch yourself. If you mess with me again, I’ll shove a rat in your mouth and make you swallow it!"

As Sharon Lowe stared in terror, Eve Vaughn stood up and left the dorm room without a backward glance.

This time, Sharon Lowe was genuinely terrified.

She had always known Eve Vaughn was no pushover, but she never imagined she would actually get physical.

What’s more, she was no match for her at all.

Wincing in pain, she struggled up from the floor and ran to the balcony. When she saw her luxury skincare products smashed to pieces and her clothes and bags covered in dirt, she let out a hysterical scream.

Then, Sharon Lowe ground her teeth in hatred and vowed, "Eve Vaughn, I swear it’ll be the last thing I do if I don’t get you kicked out of this dorm room!"

With that thought, she snapped photos of her ruined belongings and ran off, putting on a pitiful act as she went to report Eve to the student counselor.

...

Meanwhile, Eve Vaughn left the dorm. With nowhere else to go, she went to Evergreen Hospital.

Sitting by her mother’s bedside, Eve Vaughn gazed at the woman who remained in a coma, without a flicker of consciousness. Waves of despair and sorrow washed over her.

Her eyes were red as she choked back sobs. "Mom, if only you were healthy and here with me. Then I wouldn’t be bullied, I could come home to a warm meal, and Lana Chambers and her family wouldn’t have taken over our house." 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

As she spoke, tears began to stream down her face, and she felt utterly wronged.

She held her mother’s hand, wanting to pour out all her grievances and sorrows, yet she didn’t want to worry her.

Even though she knew her mother couldn’t hear a word.

The gossip on the school forums was spiraling out of control. Eve Vaughn didn’t want to return to her dorm room, or even to campus at all.

It felt like wherever she went now, she was met with scornful glances.

Eve Vaughn stayed at the hospital until well after ten o’clock that night, with no intention of leaving.

Fortunately, there was a recliner in the room where she could sleep.

Just then, there was a knock on the door.

Eve Vaughn assumed it was a nurse on her nightly rounds.

But when she went to open the door, she found Mason Lawson standing in the doorway.

The man was impeccably dressed in a pure black, handmade suit that lent him an air of cold, dark, and noble bearing.

A fleeting hint of pleasant surprise flashed in Eve Vaughn’s eyes before her expression quickly dimmed again.

She asked irritably, "What are you doing here?"

"What do you think I’m doing here?"

Mason Lawson scoffed. "You don’t have the guts to prove your own innocence, nor to get fierce with the people framing you. You only know how to act tough with me, is that it?"

The mention of it made her furious. "If you came here to laugh at me, then mission accomplished," she said indignantly. "So what if I only act tough with my own people? Are you happy now!"

Her reaction left Mason both exasperated and amused. He nodded. "So you’re at least aware of it, huh?"

Fuming, the young woman tried to slam the door shut, but Mason Lawson braced his hand against the frame, stopping her.

His teasing expression vanished, replaced by a serious, earnest look. "You’re being bullied so badly you can’t even go back to your own dorm, but you won’t tell me. You insist on shouldering this all by yourself. Eve Vaughn, what am I to you? Or do you think I’m not even capable of protecting you?"
