After Being Cheated On, I Became My Ex's Uncle's Pampered Sweetheart
Chapter 93: He Does the Cruelest Things with a Calm Expression
When he entered the room, Arthur Sinclair was about to pull off Eve Vaughn’s sweater.
He was even cursing and grumbling because the cold weather meant Eve Vaughn was wearing multiple layers. "Little bitch, wearing so many damn clothes. What a fucking hassle!"
A bloodthirsty, cold light erupted in Mason Lawson’s eyes. Seeing this, a bodyguard immediately went over, yanked the man away, and threw him to the ground.
Eve Vaughn cried tears of joy, as if she had just seen her savior.
"Uncle!"
She cried out, her voice full of grievance.
Mason Lawson walked over and straightened her clothes. His movements were slow and deliberate, but his eyes radiated killing intent.
Lana Chambers and Jason Vaughn hurried over as well. When they saw this scene, they nearly fainted.
’Isn’t Eve Vaughn Jonah Spencer’s woman? Why would Mason Lawson come to save her? He isn’t even trying to hide his affection for her in front of others.’
Arthur Sinclair scrambled up from the floor, looking disheveled. A man of his status had never had the chance to meet Mason Lawson before, so naturally, he didn’t recognize him.
He was even still shouting, "Who... Who the hell are you, barging into a private residence? I’ll sue you for this!" 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Lana Chambers frantically ran over and whispered, "Don’t talk. Just shut up. This is not a man we can afford to offend."
But they didn’t know this was only the beginning.
Mason Lawson lifted Eve Vaughn directly into his arms and asked, "Evie, which of his hands touched you just now? Besides his hands, did he touch you anywhere else?"
Nestled in Mason Lawson’s embrace, Eve Vaughn finally felt a sliver of security.
Now that she had a chance for revenge, Eve Vaughn certainly wasn’t going to let it go.
She glanced at her pale-faced uncle and his family, and then at the bewildered Arthur Sinclair, before saying to Mason Lawson, "He touched me with both of his hands."
"Alright."
Mason Lawson nodded. His expression was still gentle when he looked at Eve Vaughn, but when his gaze shifted to Arthur Sinclair, his eyes had already turned bone-chillingly cold.
The man’s thin lips parted. "Cripple both of his hands."
His calm tone made it sound as casual as if he were discussing what to eat for dinner.
Only then did Arthur Sinclair feel fear. He desperately explained, "No, I didn’t know she was your woman! I thought she didn’t belong to anyone."
But soon, two bodyguards had him pinned.
Lana Chambers and Jason Vaughn were aghast.
Lana Chambers quickly ran over. "President Lawson, there must be a misunderstanding! We... we didn’t realize Eve Vaughn was your woman. Seeing as we’ll be in-laws in the future, could we just let this go?"
A faint smile touched Mason Lawson’s lips.
Just as Lana Chambers thought Mason Lawson would relent for the sake of their future family ties, he said to his bodyguards, "Take him outside to do it. Don’t frighten my Evie."
So, the bodyguards dragged Arthur Sinclair directly into the living room.
"No, no, I was wrong, I beg you, don’t—AHHH!"
As an iron hammer smashed down directly on Arthur Sinclair’s hands, a heart-wrenching scream echoed throughout the entire house.
Lana Chambers and Jason Vaughn’s eyes widened. They could only watch, frozen, as blood splattered and flesh was torn from bone when Arthur Sinclair’s hands were crushed. They nearly pissed themselves in fear.
Having never witnessed such a scene in her life, Theresa Thompson fainted on the spot.
Mason Lawson, carrying Eve Vaughn, walked past them with a calm and composed expression.
From beginning to end, he maintained the most serene and gentle demeanor while committing the most ruthless acts.
Amidst a room full of wails and terrified gasps, Mason Lawson strode out with Eve Vaughn in his arms, without saying another superfluous word.
Jason Vaughn and Lana Chambers were already dumbstruck with fear, their entire bodies trembling.
A few minutes later, Jason Vaughn came to his senses and roared, "Quick, call the hospital!"
Lana Chambers’ legs were still so weak she couldn’t even stand. She had to crawl to the phone.
...
Meanwhile, Mason Lawson had already gotten Eve Vaughn into the car.
"To the hospital."
As he instructed the driver, he pulled Eve Vaughn into his embrace and said apologetically, "Today, I should have gone with you. Then this wouldn’t have happened."
Eve Vaughn leaned against him listlessly, completely drained of strength.
Though her body was weak, her mind was crystal clear.
’Mason Lawson clearly didn’t want others to know about their relationship. That’s why he wouldn’t go with me to a place where so many people knew them.’
Their relationship was a secret known only to a few of Mason Lawson’s closest friends.
The little joy Eve Vaughn felt from surviving the ordeal was now replaced by desolation.
At the hospital, the doctor gave her a thorough examination.
"Rest assured, Mr. Lawson. The drug Miss Vaughn ingested is just a common anti-anxiety medication. It’s only because of the high dosage that she’s experiencing temporary mental paralysis and the side effect of physical weakness."
After speaking, the doctor drew some of Eve Vaughn’s blood.
Later, once it was confirmed there were no other issues, Mason Lawson took Eve Vaughn home.
On the way, the young woman had fallen asleep in his arms, sleeping soundly.
Mason Lawson gazed at the girl in his arms, the warmth in his dark eyes giving way to a layer of frost.
He took out his phone and called Neil Kane. "That parcel of land in the north of the city, go ahead and acquire it."
"That land?"
Neil Kane was startled and quickly reminded him, "We’ve already done a risk assessment on that. Besides, we have inside information from the government that a chemical plant is going to be built near there next year. Mr. Lawson, while it may seem like a prime location for a villa complex right now, once that chemical plant is built, it’ll be a total loss!"
Mason Lawson’s expression remained unchanged. "Why are you being so long-winded? Just do as I say."
Neil Kane rarely understood Mason Lawson’s intentions, but since it was an order from his boss, he could only comply.
Eve Vaughn slept until evening, and even then, she was jolted awake by a nightmare.
In her dream, she saw that repulsive Arthur Sinclair pouncing on her. No matter how much she screamed, no one came to save her.
Just like that, she woke up with a sudden, piercing scream.
Hearing the sound, Mason Lawson immediately entered the bedroom. "Evie, what’s wrong?"
He had just sat down on the edge of the bed when the young woman threw herself into his arms, sobbing uncontrollably.
That afternoon, she had been too terrified to even cry. All the way to the hospital, she had been in a daze, numb and unresponsive.
Now, with her thoughts finally returning, everything that had happened replayed itself in her dream. The feeling of having survived a disaster was just too overwhelming for Eve Vaughn.
It was as if only by crying could she release all the pent-up fear and grievance in her heart.
Her tears soaked Mason Lawson’s expensive shirt, but the man said nothing, merely patting her trembling back and comforting her in a soft voice, "Don’t cry, Evie. It’s okay now. It’s my fault for acting too late. If I had known, I would have dealt with them immediately."
After all, he hadn’t expected the Vaughns to stoop so low, to even use Old Madam Vaughn’s birthday as an opportunity to harm Eve Vaughn.
After a long while, her sobs gradually subsided.
She looked at Mason Lawson with a hint of resentment, pouting. "If Uncle had been there today, they definitely wouldn’t have dared to bully me like this."
Unfortunately, Mason Lawson had explicitly refused to go back with her that morning. To put it bluntly, he didn’t want to make their relationship public.
Eve Vaughn was unhappy, so she complained a little.
But she knew that once Mason Lawson made a decision, it was nearly impossible for anyone to change it.
In her relationship with Mason Lawson, she had no power.
However, Mason Lawson smiled, bent down to kiss the corner of her lips, and said, "Then tomorrow, I’ll go back to your family’s home with you, alright?"
"Tomorrow?" Eve Vaughn looked at him in surprise. "Go back? To Jason Vaughn and Lana Chambers’ place?"
