After signing with AC Milan, I will be the king of football!
Chapter 1948 - 512: Desert Eagle
Inzaghi had made up his mind to put on a good show this time and make everyone see him in a new light.
Neo drove the group to the market and, after twisting and turning through several alleys, went into a narrow lane.
After Neo went up and talked with the shopkeeper, the shopkeeper immediately came out from the back room carrying one big crate after another, gesturing as he said, "French army stuff is pricey, German army stuff is cheap, French gear is newer."
Once Neo took out the things inside the crates, he tested them and then started bargaining with the shopkeeper.
The group bought six bulletproof vests and a few guns.
Only Huang Kaiwen and Neo actually carried them.
After buying some other supplies, they finally set off.
On the way to Gulanbaliye, Ramos asked, "You still need a gun permit to carry here, right?"
"Yeah, but Barbara took care of that long ago."
Huang Kaiwen said with a smile.
Lately the young lady’s business focus had been in France, so getting this sort of stuff done in Tunisia was easy.
Inzaghi griped, "Most of the officials in this world are parasites, that’s why things like this happen."
"A dictator isn’t qualified to call other people parasites."
Kaka suddenly cut in, choking Inzaghi so hard he was left speechless.
He simply folded his arms and sat in the back seat sulking.
Neo glanced at the rearview mirror and suddenly said, "Buckle up, someone’s tailing us."
"Are you sure you’re not seeing things?"
Young Master asked softly.
He’d been watching carefully this whole time.
"I’m sure." 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
Neo floored the gas and said, "They’re changing cars, but that Citroën has already followed us twice. I deliberately changed routes, and after a while it still managed to catch up."
"Hold on tight!"
Huang Kaiwen warned.
As soon as Neo said it, he understood—these people were definitely following them.
But Huang Kaiwen was curious whether they were eyeing Inzaghi, the big fat sheep, or if they already knew their objective.
The group’s original destination was Gulanbaliye, southeast of Tunis city.
In this situation, Neo simply turned off toward Thuburbo in the southwest.
Once the other side noticed Huang Kaiwen’s group speeding up, they dropped all pretense; all three cars gunned it after them.
"I feel like my ass is getting split in two."
Kaka clutched the grab handle above his head in a death grip and said with a wry smile.
"This is already the fifth-ranked country in Africa."
Huang Kaiwen said with a grin.
Because his body balance was so good, he still felt relaxed even on a road this bumpy.
"I’ll never badmouth Italy again."
Inzaghi said, face pale.
He was getting a little carsick.
"Hey, Neo, there’s fields up ahead."
Ramos in the back seat reminded him.
"I know."
Neo in the driver’s seat shifted gears again, stomped hard on the accelerator, and the van nearly shook itself to pieces.
Only then did Neo say, "If we still can’t shake them, we’re going to be in serious trouble. Out in the desert, facing enemies with automatic weapons, we don’t stand a chance."
"Then why didn’t you buy automatic weapons?"
Inzaghi asked, his face white.
The constant sound of bullets hitting the van was murder on his nerves.
He swore this was the most thrilling thing he’d ever experienced.
"Because they’re a pain to carry around."
Huang Kaiwen snapped.
Even in America, where gunfights happen every day, you don’t see people walking around with automatic weapons all the time.
Only that country where people lug around the "Bible" like a land deed would take automatic rifles to the seaside on vacation.
The van rattled and clattered as it plowed through the vineyards, and Ramos pointed ahead, saying, "That’s a town, right? They probably won’t dare shoot in town."
"No, that’s an Ancient Rome ruin."
Neo took one glance and replied directly.
He’d done several months of homework for this job.
If it really came down to it, he was prepared to sacrifice everyone in the car to buy Huang Kaiwen a chance to escape.
He trusted that Huang Kaiwen and Barbara wouldn’t try to skimp on the death benefits.
Gritting his teeth, Neo drove straight into the ruins, only to find the other side still hot on their heels.
Kaka was clutching the grab handle above him when he suddenly felt a chill; only then did he realize the side door had been knocked loose in the collisions. One hard turn from Neo and he could be flung right out.
Kaka hurriedly bent over and clutched Inzaghi tight, afraid he’d fall off the van.
"How is it?"
Huang Kaiwen, sitting in the passenger seat, asked.
As he spoke, the other side had already cut across a side road and blocked the van from the front.
Neo suddenly made a hard turn and barely managed to avoid them.
Half of Kaka’s body was hanging in midair; luckily, he was holding on tight.
Neo said, "Their car is more agile, it won’t be easy for us to shake them."
Neo was getting a headache now too.
Even though this van had been modified, its exterior parts were kept stock so as not to draw attention.
He’d never expected to run into something this dangerous.
Huang Kaiwen turned around and said, "Hand me that green bag."
"What, you gonna pull a Jack Chen and start throwing stuff so they can’t chase us?"
Inzaghi complained.
Ramos directly passed the bag to Huang Kaiwen.
Huang Kaiwen took out a compound bow from the bag and began assembling it; this was what he had brought along this time.
Kaka’s eyes lit up at once, and he said excitedly, "Kevin, your archery’s solid, you’re an Olympic champion!"
Huang Kaiwen gave a wry shake of his head.
A champion is still a champion.
But he’d barely ever shot at moving targets, let alone while he himself was moving at high speed.
After putting the compound bow together, Huang Kaiwen said, "Neo, turn toward your side and give me a line of sight."
"Yes, sir!"
Neo nodded, instantly getting what he meant.
After all, he’d actually been in a real war.
Right before a section of ruined wall, Neo suddenly yanked the wheel hard; Huang Kaiwen clamped the seat with his legs and leaned his upper body out with the motion.
Almost in the same instant, Huang Kaiwen let go of the bowstring with his left hand.
The 70-pound compound bow was drawn to full, then suddenly released. The arrow shot backward with a sharp whoosh, and at 57 meters per second, in almost the blink of an eye, it buried itself in the Citroën’s right front tire.
The Citroën, suddenly losing balance, slammed hard into the ruin’s wall.
"Beautiful, Kevin!"
Inzaghi forced a grin and said, "I knew your archery would come in handy."
"Next time we might not get this lucky."
Huang Kaiwen said seriously.
If the other side hadn’t been holding back, their van would’ve been riddled like a sieve.
Precisely because of that, Huang Kaiwen felt something was off.
These people were probably not some bandits hired for a few thousand dollars by Inzaghi.
"Sir, up ahead!"
Neo suddenly shouted.
Even though they were on a relatively wide road, the streets of Ancient Rome weren’t built for cars. With this kind of head-on charge there was no room at all to turn around.
Huang Kaiwen tried to stick his hand out, and the oncoming car immediately opened fire.
"What do we do?"
Huang Kaiwen asked.
Neo gritted his teeth and ducked his head. "Our chassis is higher, let’s see if we can drive right over him."
"Alright."
Huang Kaiwen ducked down as well, protecting his vital parts.
The few people in the back simply hugged each other.
But a few seconds later, the impact they’d imagined never came.
Huang Kaiwen looked up and saw the other car was reversing.
This time Huang Kaiwen didn’t hesitate at all; he leaned out just a bit and loosed an arrow immediately.
"You missed?"
Inzaghi said in disappointment, "You should’ve just shot the driver’s cab."
"Idiot, look at the gas tank!"
Kaka reminded him.
Inzaghi craned his neck and saw an arrow buried firmly in the other car’s gas tank.
He shouted in excitement, "Kevin, you’re basically Robin Hood, you’re Zorro, I knew you wouldn’t let us die here."
Huang Kaiwen was just about to speak when he suddenly pointed behind them and shouted, "Down!"
Everyone instinctively ducked. In that split second, Huang Kaiwen didn’t have time to lean out; he simply turned around and fired an arrow toward the rear of the van.
Kaka even felt his scalp burn with a sting.
When he turned back around, his eyes went wide. In the last Citroën chasing them, the guy in the passenger seat had an arrow sticking straight out of his hand, and not far from their van, there was actually a shiny hand grenade lying there!
