Chapter 1964: Bunker Trouble

Speaking of Althea, she was currently drenched in sweat as she continuously shot arrow after arrow while consuming an endless amount of mana cookies, mana candies, and mana potions.

However, there was something they knew about consumption like this. After a certain saturation point is reached, the body would build some sort of potion fatigue where the body, temporarily, would absorb less and less energy for the same amount of potion.

As someone with a large pool of mana compared to others, this threshold was higher. Even in the previous wars, while a few others had long drowned and a potion would only give a few points increase, she was still completely fine.

However, in this war, she had no choice but to continuously use a large amount of mana because the Bellagio needed to consume a lot if she wanted to damage the truly threatening enemies.

While she knew she really couldn’t gain a level on par with her husband, she was still slapped with the fact that her level was still too low. If her level had been higher, the Bellagio’s harm and mana consumption would’ve been much more manageable.

She did not regret her decision to focus on other things, of course. This was because her choices of what to focus on would save many more lives.

It had been a few hours since her husband left to fight those powerhouses alone. She had a feeling that there were more coming in that area, too, but the backup was not for her husband.

Meanwhile, she could not leave this place, and all her extremities were feeling sore, her eyes blackening from the continuous pull of mana.

It seemed like the leak in front was bigger than they thought, and most powerhouses who passed through that could not be stopped by their forces, headed straight in this direction.

She couldn’t help but look worriedly at the mountains, some portions of which had become ice mountains, like white spattered on something brown and green.

The stress of the worrying for him, as well as her tiredness, was slowly withering Althea away. She was still strong and upright, but when so much pressure was coming in from all directions, how much could she do? How much could she adjust?

Until now, the battle was ongoing; she could sense the immense powers and clashes happening all over the territory. Because she was on higher elevation, plus she was on top of a top-level sentry, she could actually see a lot more.

If she were to calculate, most of the forests and gardens had already been decimated, and many buildings, including system buildings, had also shown significant damage. Some manual ones had even fallen down entirely.

She glared at the enemies in front, relentlessly attacking her people, eyes filled with bloodlust. There was an increasing number of them, too. She wasn’t surprised.

The enemies were many. If one enemy strongman fell, another would replace him.

The goal of the people fighting along the battlements was to keep the majority of the enemies outside. This meant that several thousand, at least, could still enter even if the guards did a good job.

Then she stared at her people who had been bravely fighting despite their wounds, fully intending to defend the bunker no matter what.

The park that fronted the bunker was massive. If one were to compare in size, it was easily two or three neighborhoods large.

It used to be filled with trees, playgrounds, and the like—always filled with laughter and chatter—but now, with the hundreds of fights going on around them, it was practically decimated.

This also made other archers unable to find good vantage points. There were no buildings in this park, and now there were also no more trees, so many of the archers were on the ground, kiting enemies instead. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

It was around this time that—BOOM!

A bomb blew at the entrance, the force imbalancing everyone nearby, including Althea.

BOOM!

Again, and nothing else. The enemies were obviously aware of this and shot back up, using the Alterrans’ distraction to land more hits or even secure kills.

BANG!

SLAM!

Fortunately, the Alterrans were not soft berries either. Further, they had a sense of teamwork, so even if someone reacted late, they would likely have someone pulling them back or even shielding them.

She wanted to ask people if they were alright, but she didn’t want to draw attention to her again. Instead, she observed the damage, realizing the bombs were both trying to open up the bunkers!

Worse...she saw the door had, indeed, weakened! It wasn’t obvious at first glance, but she was part of the place’s planning team. She could tell—just a few hits from powerhouses and that door would give in!

The explosion was a little more powerful than the one that hit the ministers before the war, but the guards were at least level 30 and shouldn’t be lethal. However, it would definitely injure them if they weren’t able to avoid it. Now, they were all either unconscious or struggling to get up.

Feeling tense, Althea automatically shot her arrows at the enemies who were nearest the bunkers, her eyes watching closely to see who would approach the doors first!

Whoosh!

Whoosh!

The people below naturally knew someone was shooting, but whenever they tried to get to them, they’d be blocked harshly, so until now, no one had managed to get up after the superspeed person.

While Althea was shooting, the Alterrans had already gathered themselves and resumed the fight. Those who rushed to the door instead were all met with targeted attacks, making the next batch a bit more reluctant to open themselves for free shooting!

So...they had to take care of that archer first!

After taking a few more shots, Althea narrowed her eyes at the smoke the explosion created and ordered the vines nearby to feel for the guards, to help them out.

Her eyes constricted when, from her angle above, she saw several—perhaps a dozen—new enemy powerhouses appear, rushing past the ongoing fights and straight over to the bunker!

They kicked away the groggy guards with strength that caused their bodies to twist, most likely in lethal conditions.

However, Althea could not think about them for now; she could only raise the flare, alerting more backup to come here asap, but she jumped down on her own anyway.

After all, her babies were in trouble!
