After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World
Chapter 1976: Leez’s State
The Alterran powerhouses gradually outnumbered the enemy’s. One by one, the Valov powerhouses were weakened, injured, or beheaded. More and more people saw their team leaders dying and rushed back to the arrays.
The enemies’ bodies, dying or dead, covered the vast land in that sector, both inside and outside of the walls.
Sadly, there were also plenty of Alterrans mixed in.
While the breach was being controlled, they were already handling their injured, hoping to save as many as they could.
During the first hours, when the enemies and their trebuchets were at their strongest, the Alterrans were pushed on the defensive, and many people were lost due to the breach and the trebuchets themselves.
Then, when the situation turned around, the breached area remained bloody, with tens of thousands of people from each side clashing, aiming for each other’s heads.
Counting, there were already hundreds of casualties, many were fatalities, while the rest were seriously injured, a good portion of them hanging by a thread.
One of them...was Leez.
Leez had already been assigned to Alterra again after helping clear out Ceramica Town, with the Lord there sending her back after the news of an upcoming war.
Heck, the Lord Rowan himself wanted to come to the war, and people literally had to drag him back, telling him he was no longer a guard.
He was also repeatedly reminded that there was a Lord Token attached to him right now, and please think of the tens of thousands of people in Ceramica Town!
Only then did Rowan calm down, but he did send a few local mercenaries to help out, stating that they would also get contribution points.
Contribution Points were valid across all of Alterra’s properties, including the satellites, so naturally, there was no lack of volunteers on this one.
Leez led one of the teams assigned to handle the ’loose breaches’, which were small teams of above-average-level people, led by powerhouses, who shielded themselves from the sentries (in one way or another) and used their high levels to rush inside.
She had to go against level 30s, along with her team, and they fought valiantly. They lasted a long time with their equipment and potion, which was impressive because the average level of her team was no more than level 20.
It was to the point that, even if the enemy was stronger, they ran away because they didn’t want to bother with them anymore. After all, these powerhouses had specific targets, the ministers, so they were naturally unwilling to spend any more time and energy on the sticky small fry.
In the end, because Leez knew that her team wouldn’t be able to follow the enemies, she just assigned the vice captain to continue guarding for leaks, while she followed after the enemies, firing up a flare in the process.
This happened before the enemies inside the walls collated to specific areas. She realized that these people were heading straight to the bunkers, and she took out another flare, a different color one, which pointed in a direction where danger was incoming instead.
As such, many of the Alterrans nearby headed to the bunkers to help out, even when danger had yet to arrive.
This angered the enemies, and she was blocked by two of the team members, as if intent on venting on her for ruining their plans and exposing them.
They were both slightly above her in level, but with the use of a protection charm, good equipment, and boxes of potions, she managed to defeat both of them, even if it took a while. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
During their battle, the various explosions and fights had already begun in the bunker area, and she just thought of keeping these two with her to lighten the load for the others.
Their battle took a few hours, and they damaged an entire street. The other Alterrans were too busy with their own battles to help her out, and those who were free were not strong enough to be of much help.
The enemies died in the end, but she was also half dead.
Fortunately, there were always eyes in Alterra, whether it was relatively decent-level citizens hiding in houses to monitor and report situations, the freed-up guards doing their rounds, or the logistics people going around.
They were quick to carry her to get help, at least to call out a broatbulance, which were endlessly running to and fro along the avenues. Obi appeared with a pale face.
Obi was part of the team that dealt with the remaining powerhouses from Valov, spending several hours there.
When he returned, the threats inside were already neutralized, and the first person he thought to look for was Leez. However, when he found out where she was, she was already on the brink of life and death.
"LEEZ!" he screamed, heading to her to carry her up.
All his mind was focused on was getting help, but his mind kept sending images of what would happen if she could not recover, and he realized he had never been so fearful in his life.
Since he came from the other side of the territory, he had passed by the hospital. He knew it was full and there was a queue.
Despite Leez’s injuries, there were people with more serious injuries and had lower-level (and therefore lower recovery) rates than Leez, so she would not be prioritized there.
In cases like these, the healing sanctuary was the best choice. Further, for guards, the prices for the Healing Sanctuary were halved whenever there was a war or a mob ongoing.
Obi didn’t think twice anymore and brought her there, paying for the entrance fees for both of them.
He placed her on one of the beds and activated the panel.
The screen was visible to everyone, so even if the patient themselves were unconscious, other people could manipulate the panels.
The guards were oriented about how to use this, and one of them was to get a professional to check the condition first before pressing anything.
Anyway, the Sanctuary’s passive was to keep people alive and their recovery stable, so as long as they were already on that bed, half of the problem had been solved.
Soon, the medical professional assigned to the sanctuary went to them to start her diagnosis. There was always someone stationed there, though they served in rotation.
Today, it was Leiah from the ob-gyn department.
The nurse manipulated the panels, getting the information she needed from them. It was better than most machines, and it worked like a combination of various medical equipment.
"She should recover well after we activate," the nurse said as she undressed Leez and found the bandages there. Her eyebrows rose for a moment before she resumed her work, ready to replace them.
She asked Obi to please leave the area, but didn’t bother with him anymore, not noticing the man in question was still standing there.
Obi, on the other hand, was in a daze, and he was frozen in place. He did not even realize he was staring—or that it was perverted of him to continue doing so!
