Amber Sword
Chapter 1031 - 238: BOSS?
Passing through the hall full of cobwebs and dust, the tomb chamber is located at the far end of this Underground City, generally speaking, it's the place where the Boss Level monsters reside. As soon as Brand entered this chamber, he instinctively felt something was off. This tomb chamber was very small, only a few dozen steps square in length and width, overall it was square-shaped, with a giant Stone Coffin quietly stationed on a stone platform protruding from the ground in the center of the room. The architectural style of the tomb chamber was consistent with the tomb passage outside, but the atmosphere inside the chamber was distinctly oppressive.
Under the light, sometimes bright and sometimes dim, the narrow space seemed to be suffused with a vein of evil presence, the air congealed to freezing point, even the torch flames were suppressed for no apparent reason.
This was the breath of a Boss Level monster, but far more intense than Brand had anticipated, a presence that should not belong to a Level 30 or so Boss. However, Brand looked around and did not see the Boss. It could only be guessed that the Boss was inside the Stone Coffin in the center, he drew out the Earth Sword, flattened the Longsword to block the people behind him, signaling them not to act rashly. Then he turned around and asked, "Where are those cards?"
"Over there, Lord." The Wizard Apprentice immediately pointed to the other side of the Stone Coffin, only then did Brand notice a skeleton remnant lying in the shadow. Because the tomb was full of such burial skeletons, he did not notice this detail earlier. Now, being alerted to it, he immediately noticed the difference in this remnantβ The burial objects in this tomb should all be slaves, mostly not wearing anything luxurious, even if there were, they mostly would have carbonized to dust over time. But this remnant wore a well-preserved robe, with a staff placed by his side, Brand recognized at once that this was a Wizard, apart from Wizards, few would use such precious materials like Magic Black Wood to make a staff.
Beside the Wizard's remains were scattered a few shiny cards, they were Destiny Cards, there were five in total.
It's not surprising for Wizards to carry Destiny Cards, actually, this was not the first time Brand had found Destiny Cards among the relics of Spellcasters. Wizards are a group full of curiosity and exploration of all mysterious things in this World, they often collect odd trinkets that even they can't identify, and many lose their lives due to this every year. At least Brand had heard of someone cursed for collecting Evil God's statues. So it's not hard to understand Wizards collecting some mysterious little cards.
"Can you use any spells to bring them over?" Brand asked, instinctively feeling some danger in this chamber. Boss Level monsters come in many forms, some very difficult and skilled at setting traps, although there were merely some tomb Ghouls outside, there was no guarantee that the master of this tomb wouldn't be some high-level sudden-death Ghost or something like that. He didn't want to step into the opponent's main battlefield for combat.
The key is, this tomb gave him a very ineffable feeling. He had experienced the 'Wolf Calamity,' even when facing beasts baring their teeth like a tide rushing towards him, he wasn't as nervous as he was now, the danger in the air seemed to condense into needles, pricking his heart to constrict. Having experienced hundreds and thousands of Underground Cities, his sense of crisis was extremely keen, instinctively feeling something peculiar about this chamber.
Although from the outside entrance, this should be a Level 30 enhanced Underground City, theoretically, the Boss should be a leader-level Gold monster. But there is no guarantee that nothing would go wrong, no one dares to give a hundred percent assurance they won't make mistakes. Especially after entering the tomb, Brand found the tomb's history incredibly ancient, if it existed before the reign of Erune and the Silver Elf, then it would have endured thousands of years.
Things like tombs and Underground Cities, the longer the history, the more bizarre the monsters inside. The Amber Sword is very realistic in this regard, forcing Brand to act cautiously and rely more on his judgment and experience. ππ³π¦ππ€ππ£π―β΄π·π¦π.πππ
The apprentices all shook their heads.
"We tried, Lord," someone gathered courage to answer: "But that Stone Coffin seems to have some power that can neutralize our magic, as soon as our spells approach the Stone Coffin, they vanish immediately."
"Vanish?" Brand asked, "Were they dispelled?"
