Amber Sword
Chapter 1039 - 242: Deck, Adversity Heaven_2
Brand smiled, he could tell the concern in his servant’s tone, but he replied irritably, "It’s still afternoon, there are at least ten hours before the reset stage, if you feel dizzy, go and rest for a bit. How far are you from the ground?"
"Ha, I think it should be very close, you know, Lord, I always have considerable confidence in my own escape skills."
"That’s nothing to boast about," Brand thought, "Anyway, try to get out as quickly as possible and contact people outside."
"Good plan—wait, Lord, how exactly do I get out quickly?" Char immediately cried out.
"You’re a wizard, do I really need to teach you this?"
"Wizards aren’t omnipotent. Especially someone like me, a miserable scholar of laws, you probably don’t know, but privately people in the Silver Alliance call us scholars—well, I mean this title isn’t bad, but what do you expect from poor me who can’t even kill a chicken? I’m not one of those muscle-headed violent Elemental Mages..."
This guy was actually acting cute, leaving Brand speechless for a moment. He raised a fluorite, its faint glow spilling down the rugged rock wall, revealing a space that spiraled downward. Holding his sword, he was preparing to go down for a look when the voice in his mind grew clear again:
"Wait, Lord, is there something new on your end—" Char shouted.
"Eh?"
Brand stopped: "How did you know?"
"I guessed, do you remember the box I picked up last? That was a trap—"
Speaking of the box only made Brand angry, this guy had the audacity to mention it. He was about to explode when his mage follower hurriedly added, "Lord, wait, what I mean is that the box was empty."
"An empty box ended up tricking you, you’ve disgraced wizards everywhere," Brand replied irritably.
"Alright, it was an accident, but that’s not the real issue. That box was a Travel Mage’s personal item, I recognized the symbol on it. A regular triangle with an inscribed circle, representing stable laws and inner measurement, the outside flame is the black flame of Ekronia, this box must have something to do with Trisman."
"Don’t tell me this is his tomb?" Brand’s eyelid twitched.
"More or less, I suspect there’s more mystery below this tomb."
"No matter how mysterious, it’s just an underground city around Level 40," Brand had this thought but didn’t voice it, although he also suspected there might be items related to the Travel Mage below the tomb, something faintly connecting in his heart. Thinking of this, he remembered to take out the cards in his hand to inspect under the glow.
Five cards.
The first card depicted a silhouette of a spellcaster in the mist, a slender shadow formed amid the hazy smoke, but with four hands, long and powerful—three hands weaving a spell were raised high, one pointing forward, while an army marched through the mist. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
Ecroian Weaver (Adversity Heaven X), 7 Dark; [Biological — Ecloian/Weaver, Level 25 Elite]; Effect: Tap, pay 5% Life, gain Light 1. ’Eye of Eros—’
Approaching Silver Peak wizard, though the special effect was similar to that of a land card, and had no upkeep cost, Brand thought such cards were beneficial to have more of. Then he took out the second card, which abstractly showed a robed man clutching his head, looking like he had a migraine. The card’s name was Anxiety, with rather odd effects:
Anxiety (Adversity Heaven VII), 2 Energy; [Spell—Instant]; Effect: Copy a spell effect that costs no more than 30, for each spell used prior this turn, copy this spell once. ’Time like grains of sand, passing swiftly’
Seeing this card made Brand involuntarily exclaim, although he hadn’t fully understood its described effect yet, from the literal meaning at least, it belonged to the category of ’Though unclear, it seems formidable’.
But what is this 2 Energy? He paused, suddenly recalling something, and scanning the retina with the ghostly green text, another card appeared in his view—
Adversity Furnace of Ekronia (Adversity Heaven III), 30 Dark; [Boundary—Nest]; Effect: When ’Furnace’ enters, attach it to a land card. Tap, any 2, sacrifice one Ekronian soldier, to grant ’Furnace’ two points of energy. ’Travelers pass through the Great Plain, when heading towards North Ludsea Volcano, where the sky is perpetually shrouded in black clouds and fire illuminates the sky’
"Damn, it’s indeed a deck," Brand mused to himself, wondering where to find enough Ekronian soldiers to sacrifice. As he thought about it, he drew out the next card, looking at it with a slight pause; surprisingly, it was another Ecroian Weaver, Brand’s face slightly changed, hurriedly flipping through all the remaining cards—all Ecroian Weavers, one after another.
He was stunned, the remaining cards were all identical Ecroian Weavers, fulfilling the saying, but wasn’t this too much?
This was still the first time he had acquired four identical cards in one place, which elicited a fleeting thought in Brand’s mind; maybe the cards in this tomb really formed a complete set? As he pondered, a faint noise suddenly came from the tunnel below.
"Who’s there!" Brand immediately raised his sword towards that direction, seeing something flash by in the darkness ahead.
