Chapter 1048 - 247: The Battle of Light and Darkness
As soon as Yi Lian’s summon appeared, the Clockwork Man said no more and directly launched an attack. He raised his bronze cane, and immediately a pitch-black light screen rose behind him, shadows floating like fat on the screen, exuding a decaying atmosphere. At the same time, he pointed a chain-laden left hand at Bendo, and a black spirit light flew over.
"Watch out," the older sister warned, "That’s its boundary ’Destruction.’ This boundary will accelerate the erosion of our cards. That spell is Assassination, can you deal with spells?"
Before she finished speaking, Ben had already displayed Energy Drain. He acquired that spell and simultaneously saw its effect: Assassination (Adversity Heaven XIII), 5 dark; [Spell — Instant]; Effect: The target player sacrifices a Divine Artifact or a biological entity. Assassination deals damage to the player, equal to the total mana cost of that permanent.
"This card basically works purely on Travel Mages," Ben thought to himself. He directly targeted the gear ball above the Clockwork Man, but unexpectedly, a faint light barrier rose from the gear ball to block the spell, it was Anrud’s Holy Ring. The Clockwork Man actually used a card to protect the gear ball, it seemed that thing was indeed important; the Clockwork Man looked at Ben, perhaps surprised that Ben had such a card, and for a time he no longer dared to casually cast similar spells on Ben.
Meanwhile, Yi Lian also cast a golden light, breaking the dark curtain behind the Clockwork Man.
The two fighting side by side is indeed more advantageous than one, at least their casting speed was much superior. But the Clockwork Man showed no hint of tension, he pointed a finger, and the Guardian of Defeat charged forward. Clearly, the Deer Demon and the Clockwork Man had been adversaries for a long time, they weren’t surprised by each other’s moves at all, she also swung her long spear, and her Glory Guard defended against the attacks, blocking them effectively.
The black Guardian of Defeat wore minimal armor, wielding a sharp sword full of barbs, moving swiftly, evidently a highly aggressive and skilled warrior. In contrast, the Glory Guard were entirely different: these soldiers in white helmets and heavy armor, holding long Tower Shields, and wielding single-hand war-hammers, were evidently experienced defenders in positioning warfare.
The two completely different colors collided, one attacking, one defending, fighting fiercely. Although the Glory Guard had fewer numbers, the Radiant Martyr clearly was a priestly caster, with halos landing on allied heads, and the blessed Glory Guards at times suppressed the Guardians of Defeat in battle strength, holding their position steadily, advancing step by step, the Clockwork Man’s forces rapidly abandoning many corpses.
The Clockwork Man did not seem surprised by the result, he pointed his finger, and another spell targeted the Glory Guards on the field.
This spell seemed to be the Abyss Net from earlier by Andreg, but it was layers of thin dusk aura, this aura enveloped the Glory Guards, and all of the Radiant Martyr’s blessing magic vanished, replaced by negative effects like weakness, lethargy, and blindness.
"Desperate Grief, this card can reverse all positive effects," Yi Lian explained as she released a clear light. The clear light shone on the Glory Guards, instantly dispelling all positive and negative effects on them, evidently a type of dispelling spell. However, Yi Lian did not explain her card, Ben smiled secretly, this older sister seemed kind on the surface, but she was actually smart.
Once the pair exchanged blows, all spell effects on the field were cleared. However, after one round of exchange, the outnumbered Glory Guards began to suffer losses, making the Deer Demon anxious, stomping her foot, she turned back instructing the young man with the long horn beside her: "Lino, blow the horn!"
The youth in white robes immediately stepped forward, with beautiful curls, looked sweet, like an angel in the Bible. He puffed his cheeks and blew the horn, a distant horn resounded through the underground hall, distant wing flapping echoed, and soon a platinum dragon pierced through the darkness, descending on the battlefield. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
"Damn, this horn summons dragons?" Ben was somewhat astonished. Yi Lian seemed to read his thoughts, playfully winked at him, neither agreeing nor disagreeing, displaying a clear intention to tease him. Ben gritted his teeth in frustration, thinking this Deer Demon older sister was indeed quite irritating.
