Chapter 70: Radiant Knights

Ignaroth was off-balance now. He needed a second to recover himself.

David took advantage of it and cast a spell, Shadow Territory.

A 40-meter radius of darkened area was summoned, covering his pack of shadow wolves, Ignaroth, Max, and himself.

He cast Shadow Pack Assault, commanding all active shadow wolves to attack simultaneously in every direction.

Max also cast four Arcane Bolt successively.

However, Ignaroth temporarily reinforced his armor and body with infernal demonic mana.

As a result, the shadow wolves’ attacks were negligible. Max’s Arcane Bolt barely dealt any damage.

Max clicked his tongue.

Ignaroth finally recovered his balance and attacked again. This time, he summoned all his strength in another swing.

Max gritted his teeth and repeated the same movement. Unfortunately, it was futile. Ignaroth wasn’t holding back anymore.

The great sword had finally been swung... releasing a concentrated arc of Hellfire, much lesser than Varkhaz but was still effective and powerful against Max and David.

The single concentrated arc of Hellfire was enough to almost obliterate David’s shadow wolves.

He recalled his wolves to his contracted space just in time. There was no casting time needed, it was instant. As long as his shadow wolves were within five meters around him.

However, it also meant he was vulnerable. The concentrated arc of Hellfire pursued him.

He noticed in his peripheral vision that Max crouched and he followed.

They successfully evaded it, but they had given Ignaroth enough time to follow another strike of concentrated arc of Hellfire.

It successfully swallowed them, the Hellfire scorched through their skin.

Torturing them until they finally ceased to live...

...

Max was in disbelief. The Hellfire drained away his health bar. Watching it about to hit zero, he smiled bitterly.

I guess, I have to rest for fifteen days.

Having his character in Apocalypse Online dying meant he couldn’t log in for fifteen days in real world’s time.

Worst, his character would reset to level 1 and he would lose everything—from stats to equipments to skills’ proficiency.

Max felt bitter. He didn’t have a choice but to accept it.

Just as darkness swallowed his vision and he was about to log out filled with bitterness, the system suddenly popped up in front of him.

[The hidden condition for the SSS-Class legacy scroll to be activated has been met.

The hidden conditions are:

Arcane Class’ passive skills reached Master Level.

At least two of Arcane Class’ active skills reached Master Level.

A Summoner NPC died beside you.

A Greater Demon and above killed you.

You have obtained an SSS-Class legacy scroll.

After meeting the hidden conditions, you can activate the scroll and successfully become a Radiant Conclave.

Do you want to activate the hidden condition?]

Max’s eyes sparkled. He trembled in excitement.

Without hesitation, he shouted, "YES!!!"

...

Ignaroth watched as the Hellfire consumed the physical body of the humans in front of him. He stared at Max’s body being cremated.

He recalled Serakith and snorted. He can’t even handle his job properly. To die from this fragile being... Pathetic.

The Hellfire continued to burn the surrounding places and Ignaroth decided to regroup with others.

He was about to make a move when a glimmering wisp of light from Max’s corpse caught his attention.

It blinked at first like a distant star. Eventually, it grew larger... and larger, as though the star was about to explode.

Ignaroth frowned. The glimmering light was definitely a light mana—a mana that the demon races hated to the core.

He gritted his teeth and summoned hellfire and tried to extinguish the glimmering light.

Unfortunately, he failed. The glimmering light extinguished the Hellfire like an immense wind blowing a candle. The glimmering light was indestructible.

Iganroth was in disbelief. He sensed a growing crisis from the glimmering light.

He tried to obliterate it but to no avail.

He attempted striking the glimmering light with his greatsword, but it simply passed through.

Worst, his greatsword was corrupted by the light mana.

Eventually, his attempts stopped.

He glared at the glimmering light and his face turned ashen.

I can’t believe I still failed. Belzura told me that I was successful, though. She didn’t mention about this one.

A realization struck him out of the blue. His eyes widened.

What if this thing bypassed through Belzura’s foresight?

A chill ran down his spine.

Without hesitation, he turned around and decided to leave, reporting the bizarre event to their future Demon Lord.

Just as he was about to take a step, he was frozen.

He was suddenly surrounded by beings emitting light mana.

There were far smaller than him, but their weapons were pointing at his neck.

A greatsword for instance, shining with radiant light, was an inch away from his neck in front of him.

On his right was a shimmering greataxe an inch away from his neck.

At the same time, another being made out of light was standing on his left shoulder—her rapier was pointing at his neck.

From afar, there was another with a long bow, another with a recurve bow, and another with a short bow pointing at his neck.

As if they were not enough, there were dense magical light mana pointing at his neck—the most dangerous one was possessing a weapon, Light Catalyst.

There were other light beings, but they were clearly not built on attacking him—buffing their allies, instead.

In other words, there were 12 light beings that had suddenly surrounded him...

"Ah, it feels back to be reborn."

A familiar voice echoed behind his back.

He frowned.

He definitely recognized the owner of the voice.

He was infuriated, but he couldn’t make a move. The twelve beings might be lower in rank than him, but their elemental mana was lethal to him.

He remained quiet.

"You only counted twelve, right? You shouldn’t count me out."

Ignaroth trembled in fury.

Max was certainly playing with him.

He gripped his greatsword tightly while continuing to observe a way out.

Max said, "Do you know what they are?"

Ignaroth’s interest was piqued.

He gazed at the being in front of him.

While he was scrutinizing her, Max said, "They are my Radiant Knights."
