Back to the 1980s: Becoming the Villain's Lucky Wife
Chapter 122: Won’t Spoil Them
When Feng Lan saw Qin Jiao bursting back in, she stopped mid-sentence.
To be honest, for some reason, she was a little intimidated by this girl.
She remembered the girl hadn’t always been like this. She never used to be so aggressive, nor were her actions so sharp. But for some reason, in their most recent clashes, Feng Lan found herself completely unable to handle her.
Qin Jiao scanned the room. Besides her third uncle and aunt, the couple had brought their son, Xiao Tao, this time. Because Xiao Tao was here, Xiao Shi had immediately hidden away in their room upstairs.
Xiao Tao was rummaging through everything, though it wasn’t clear what he was looking for.
In addition to that family of three, Qin Jiao’s eldest uncle, Qin Bogang, was also there.
With the addition of her youngest aunt, Qin Na, who was living with their family, all four of the siblings were gathered together.
However, Qin Bogang’s expression was grim, and Qin Na looked like she was holding something back.
Looking displeased, Su Yun went to the kitchen to pour some water. Qin Jiao followed and whispered to her mother, "Mom, what’s going on? Why are they here?"
Even though they were relatives, her third uncle’s family had never acted like family, so Qin Jiao felt no need to show them the respect due to elders.
’When it comes to my third uncle’s family, if you give an inch and try to keep the peace, they’ll just think you’re a pushover and immediately take a mile.’
’You can’t indulge people like that!’
Su Yun whispered, "When your eldest uncle went back to our hometown, he accidentally let it slip. He told them we’re living in a big house in the county town and that your youngest aunt is making a lot of money with us. Then, just as it happened, Xiao Tao got ’sick,’ so your third uncle and his wife used the excuse of bringing him to the county town for medical treatment to come visit."
She sighed. "Your eldest uncle... he isn’t a bad person, but he’s so indiscreet. Last time he and his wife visited, I specifically told them we’d had a falling out with the third brother’s family and asked them not to tell anyone else about our situation for a while."
Qin Jiao said flatly, "Eldest Aunt is a sensible woman, but Eldest Uncle just wants to be a peacemaker. He thinks it’s best for the family to get along, but the reality is that Third Uncle’s family is greedy and lazy, and Grandpa and Grandma’s favoritism is as wide as the ocean. None of that is going to change. So what? Does our family have to take the loss just so everyone can pretend to be one big happy family?"
Why should we?!
"Anyway, I’ve already given in more than enough. Not this time!" Su Yun said firmly.
Qin Jiao nodded. "Mom, I’ll support you no matter what you do!"
In the end, Su Yun was still mindful of her husband’s dignity. After pouring the hot water and returning to the living room, she said directly to Qin Jiqun and Feng Lan, "Didn’t you say Xiao Tao was sick? He looks perfectly fine to me. I don’t see anything wrong with him."
Feng Lan was not pleased. "My Xiao Tao was sick. Is he not allowed to get better? Su Yun, how could you say that? No matter what problems we’ve had before, you can’t jinx my child."
"Claiming he’s sick when he isn’t... I wonder who’s really jinxing the child," Qin Na muttered from the side, unable to watch any longer. She knew exactly what her third sister-in-law was like.
Feng Lan immediately glared at her. "What’s that supposed to mean, Xiao Na? Oh, right. I forgot you got dumped by your man, so you must be in a bad mood. In that case, I’ll forgive you for talking nonsense."
Qin Na’s eyes reddened. "I wasn’t dumped by him! I’m the one who divorced him!"
"Hmph. A hen that can’t even lay an egg. What was the point of staying married? Just to take up space and not deliver?"
"You!"
Qin Na had a gentle nature to begin with, so of course she was no match for Feng Lan in an argument.
Su Yun had grown quite close to her sister-in-law recently. She frowned and said, "Feng Lan, can you watch your mouth! What, just because you had a son, that makes you some prize hen?"
"Who are you calling a hen?!"
