Back to the 1980s: Becoming the Villain's Lucky Wife
Chapter 136: Accompany Me to the Park to Sketch This Weekend
Lin Nian had actually done well on the exam too, but she felt no joy, her eyes filled with worry as she looked over at Chen Feng.
Qin Jiao, on the other hand, looked at Shen Yi. The corners of her eyes crinkled as she gave him a thumbs-up.
It was a simple compliment, but to Shen Yi, it was sweeter than honey. In his past life, Qin Jiao had never once praised him. In this life, she had already done so several times, and each one made his heart leap with joy.
The teacher was still at the podium, so it wasn’t a good time to chat. Shen Yi took out a blank piece of paper and quickly scribbled a sentence on it.
"Come sketch with me at the park this weekend."
After reading it, Qin Jiao shook her head.
Shen Yi frowned, not understanding why Qin Jiao had refused. Just then, Sun Guotao finished speaking. With half a period of evening study hall still left, he told everyone to begin studying on their own.
Shen Yi was still dwelling on Qin Jiao’s refusal. He took out his pen again and started to scribble, but Qin Jiao whispered, "I’ll tell you after school."
Shen Yi was out of options, so he kept quiet. But with a dozen or so minutes of study hall left, he was distracted. The ballpoint pen in his hand kept spinning, occasionally falling onto his desk with a CLATTER.
Qin Jiao shot him an annoyed glare, and Shen Yi immediately set his pen down.
As Qin Jiao turned back around, she couldn’t help but feel that the Shen Yi beside her would change his behavior at a single glance from her. ’He’s so different from the person he was in my past life.’
’It’s like he’s a completely different person.’
As Qin Jiao worked on her physics test, her mind began to wander. ’Since Lin Nian is a transmigrator, not someone from this world...’
’...then could this Shen Yi in front of me not be the original one either?’
Little did Qin Jiao know she was getting dangerously close to the truth. The last dozen minutes finally crawled by, and after the bell rang, a smiling Sun Guotao said goodbye to his students.
Once their homeroom teacher left, the students scattered, all flying home like fledgling swallows.
The eagerness in Shen Yi’s eyes was so intense it was almost palpable. Qin Jiao found it amusing. The classroom was still too crowded, so she planned to talk to him on their way home.
But as Qin Jiao finished packing her things, she found someone standing beside her.
Chen Feng’s expression was grim. "Qin Jiao, I will definitely take the number one spot back!"
A seventeen-year-old boy couldn’t be expected to handle such a setback. This was especially true for Chen Feng. From his first year of high school until now, he had never lost the top spot in any exam, big or small. For it to be suddenly snatched away by someone he’d always looked down on... the shock left his head ringing.
A corner of Qin Jiao’s mouth lifted. "Chen Feng, you’re pretty funny. Who ever said first place was yours to begin with?"
"Don’t get smart with me. The rumors you spread, and all that garbage you said to Shen Yi—it was all just to distract me from my studies. Whatever. There are still plenty of monthly exams left. We’ll let our scores do the talking!"
Qin Jiao shook her head. "First, everything I said was the truth, not a rumor. You know that perfectly well in your heart. Second... whether we’re talking about the monthly exams or next year’s college entrance exams, now that I’ve surpassed you, Chen Feng, I will never let you catch up! The top spot is mine now!"
"You!"
Chen Feng clenched his fists, so angry a vein throbbed on his forehead. Lin Nian, standing beside him, said indignantly, "Qin Jiao, don’t be so arrogant just because you got lucky on one test!"
Qin Jiao laughed. "Why does that sound so familiar? Oh, that’s right. After the last monthly exam, you said I was lucky and that my good fortune wouldn’t last. You even said that luck can’t last forever. Well, looking at this result, Lin Nian... does your face sting?"
