Back to the 1980s: Becoming the Villain's Lucky Wife
Chapter 264: Is Jiao Jiao Angry or Shy?
Mr. Du shook his head helplessly. To be honest, he didn’t think his grandson had it in him. Of course, if the two kids really had done something, well, they were both adults about to start college. As their elders, they wouldn’t stand in their way.
But if that rascal Xiao Yi dared to bully Xiao Jiao, he, this old man, would definitely take his cane and break his own grandson’s legs!
After washing up, Qin Jiao told Xiao Shi an adapted version of the Little Red Riding Hood story. Even after her sister fell asleep, she still didn’t go back into the space.
’Shen Yi needs to calm down. Once he’s cooled off, we can have a proper talk.’
Of course, if she heard that Grandpa Du or Aunt Du were looking for him later, she would just let Shen Yi out.
However, as Qin Jiao turned over to sleep, she happened to touch the jade bracelet on her wrist.
Strangely enough, ever since Shen Yi had put the bracelet on her, she hadn’t been able to take it off, not even with soapy water. Frustrated, she rolled over, deciding to dump this problem on Shen Yi tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Shen Yi, who had been in the space for quite a while, figured Qin Jiao had no intention of letting him out anytime soon. Unworried, he took a stroll around the place.
Shen Yi was already familiar with this space of Qin Jiao’s. Plus, she had a habit of storing food here. There was Spiritual Spring Water to drink, and the yard was full of all sorts of fruits and vegetables.
Shen Yi picked a tomato, a cucumber, and a small handful of strawberries. He washed them all and began to eat while watching the plump carp swimming in the large vat.
"Is Jiao Jiao angry, or is she just shy?"
Shen Yi lightly touched the corner of his mouth. The scratches and claw marks on his body still stung, but as he stood before the vat, crunching on a cucumber, he unexpectedly began to laugh to himself.
If the fish in the vat could talk, they would surely be thinking, ’Is this guy crazy?’
Shen Yi had always known there was something wrong with him, and it was serious. His first impression of Qin Jiao had been terrible, and then he’d been forced to marry her. Back then, Shen Yi had truly despised her with every fiber of his being.
After that, because of his inability to control his emotions, Shen Yi often lost his temper with Qin Jiao.
Even when she tiptoed around him, trying to please him and build a good life together, her every careful attempt would be torn apart by his explosive temper, leaving her utterly wretched.
Once, for Shen Yi’s birthday, Qin Jiao had personally made him a bowl of longevity noodles. But Shen Yi had just discovered his father was having an affair with his aunt, while his mother remained completely in the dark. Overcome with fury, he lost control and smashed the bowl of painstakingly cooked noodles.
Broth, noodles, and a fried egg created a sticky mess all over the floor. He remembered Qin Jiao biting her lip as she crouched down to pick up the broken shards of the bowl, only to slice her hand open. Blood streamed from the cut.
At the time, Shen Yi had wanted to say he was sorry. He’d wanted to comfort her. But the apology was lodged in his throat, and he couldn’t force the words out.
Shen Yi knew his temper was growing more and more volatile, but the truth was, Qin Jiao had already woven herself into the fabric of his life without him even realizing it.
Every day, he would wake up to the sight of her busy silhouette in the kitchen.
And though he always put on a sour face, he would finish every last bite of the food she cooked.
He tried to control his temper, even secretly seeing a therapist, all because he didn’t want to hurt Qin Jiao anymore.
There was even one time when he saw her fast asleep on the sofa. Unable to stop himself, Shen Yi had walked over and kissed her...
