Qin Bogang and his wife were a bit taken aback when they saw Qin Na was there too.

Qin Zhonghui welcomed his brother and sister-in-law and had them sit down. Su Yun, all smiles, asked, "Sister-in-law, why didn’t Xiao Lan come with you?"

Sun Li said, "She has her high school entrance exams coming up, so she’s at home doing homework. Her grandma’s there anyway, so we didn’t have her come out for this."

"Of course. The exams are important."

Sun Li then smiled at Qin Jiao. "Xiao Jiao, your college entrance exams are coming up soon too, right? How are you preparing?"

"I ranked 101st on the last monthly exam. I think I can still push for a better spot."

"That’s great," Sun Li said with a nod.

Throughout the exchange, she didn’t say a word to Qin Na. Even Xiao Shi had received some of the pastries Sun Li brought. Qin Na bit her lip, but then she saw Qin Jiao give her a look and began to sob.

The others had no choice but to stop what they were doing and look at her.

Qin Bogang asked, "Xiao Na, what’s wrong?"

Qin Na said through her sobs, "It’s just... seeing Eldest Brother and his wife, and Second Brother and his wife... you’re all such happy couples. When I think of that good-for-nothing bastard I married, it just hurts."

Sun Li’s expression softened a little. After all, who doesn’t like a compliment?

She asked, "So, what are you thinking? Do you still want to get a divorce?"

"Yes. I can’t live with him anymore. If I stay with him any longer, it’ll kill me. Look at this bruise... and this one... and this one..."

The swelling on Qin Na’s face had gone down some, but the black-and-blue marks all over her body wouldn’t fade so easily.

’Her family could offer verbal support, and if necessary, Qin Bogang and Qin Zhonghui could go and stand up for their sister. But Qin Na only had an elementary school education; they couldn’t possibly give her money to help her get by.’

And so, the matter was settled.

The rest of the meal was quite cheerful. Sun Li casually asked Su Yun about their future plans, and Su Yun answered openly, "We’re saving money for now. The plan is to open a small shop later. We want to earn more to send both our girls, Xiao Jiao and Xiao Shi, to college!"

Qin Jiao immediately pulled her little sister over and declared, "Don’t worry, Mom and Dad! We’ll both study hard, get good jobs after we graduate, make lots of money, and take good care of you!"

Watching from the side, a look of gratification appeared in Sun Li’s eyes.

’She had also only given birth to a daughter. Her in-laws were surely unhappy about it, though they didn’t dare say so. Seeing that Su Yun wasn’t dispirited by only having daughters made Sun Li happy for her as well.’
