Back to the 70s: My Childhood Sweetheart Spoils Me Rotten
Chapter 973 - 975: Analysis
Even though Chu Ling didn’t care about the matter here, even if she was Gong Ruwen’s girlfriend or his wife, she couldn’t have much say.
Yet, she always felt today’s atmosphere here was somewhat strange.
Moreover, it seemed like Zhao Guangran and Cao Na were arguing, which was really unusual.
"They argued?" Chu Ling asked softly.
Gong Ruwen cautiously looked around, "Yes, try not to talk to Cao Na these days."
Gong Ruwen vaguely knew what was going on but didn’t expect the situation to be so serious, which scared him quite a bit.
This matter left Gong Ruwen unsure of what to say or who was wrong, as from their perspectives, neither side seemed wrong; it was a matter of differing starting points.
Gong Ruwen understood why Cao Na did what she did, but that didn’t mean he agreed with her opinions.
Avoid talking to Cao Na, it seemed the problem lay with her, and the reason wasn’t about actions.
While Cao Na could be a bit pretentious at times, it was also a privilege for many girls.
Could she be seeking benefits for the Cao family? Perhaps, although even if Cao Na’s parents had such thoughts, Old Sir Cao would certainly block them.
Gong Ruwen looked at Chu Ling beside him, who seemed deep in thought but didn’t ask, feeling very satisfied that his girlfriend came from a good family without too much trouble.
However, Cao Na didn’t seem to cause this much trouble before; it only started happening later.
Especially since Cao Na’s family only consisted of a few people and had relatively simple relationships, yet still managed to have issues. It left one wondering how many problems the big and influential Chu family might have.
Gong Ruwen again wanted to speak but didn’t know how to phrase it.
"What’s wrong?" Seeing Gong Ruwen’s expression, Chu Ling found it odd, instinctively feeling it was related to her.
The issue was what could be wrong with her. Chu Ling genuinely didn’t understand, as she hadn’t done much of anything recently.
After pondering a long while, Gong Ruwen decided to tell her what Cao Na had done.
Oh, really? Chu Ling was shocked, "How could it be this way."
"This isn’t right, didn’t the Wang family already decide on the third-generation leader?" Chu Ling was very puzzled.
Though Chu Ling wasn’t a successor of the Chu family, nor even considered a core member, having followed Old Sir Chu since childhood, she knew a thing or two about such matters.
In Chu Ling’s eyes, the Wang family in Yangcheng wasn’t much, but even there they had some standing. How could they be so rash about this matter?
"Yes, we collaborated with Wang Yuzhe before, never expected this," Gong Ruwen said helplessly, "and seemingly, even Cao Li and the others don’t know what’s going on."
Despite previously good relations with Wang Yuzhe, how did it come to them becoming adversaries? Gong Ruwen felt exhausted.
"Letting go is a good thing, barely started and already so presumptuous. One wonders how arrogant they will be once they gain a foothold," Chu Ling remarked disdainfully.
How arrogant they indeed, even Gong Ruwen didn’t know, nor would they care, "We’ve been making substantial profits in Yangcheng, likely causing significant resentment."
Even though the common people wouldn’t notice, the upper levels would certainly take note, they were quite aware of what’s happening.
"So you all plan on changing locations?" Chu Ling was unaware of Zhao Gang’s layout, but considering such scheming by some, they must have made considerable money,
Chu Ling probed, "Made a lot, huh?"
Whether it was a lot, Gong Ruwen wasn’t quite sure, "At least made more than our several families in Beijing over the years."
Gong Ruwen didn’t know if Gong Ruini knew, maybe she had some idea. At least this much he knew, enough to startle him.
Gasping, certain information they yearned to know was gradually uncovered. Who’d have thought they made so much money in Yangcheng?
"Then are you completely leaving Yangcheng?" It took more than mere courage to walk away with so much money on the table.
"Of course not, the development trend in Yangcheng is emerging. We just want to avoid the limelight for now, to return when their momentum wanes or when no one can hinder us," Gong Ruwen couldn’t believe some people would remain triumphant forever, there would ultimately come a time of reckoning.
Gong Ruini approached Gong Ruwen with something, and before entering, overheard Chu Ling discuss profound matters with her brother, such as simple faction delineations within this circle, and family heritage, about Yangcheng’s situation.
Furthermore, she analyzed current politics with Zhao Guangran, not in detail, but the discussion was enough for Gong Ruwen to ponder for a long time, let alone the fact that they weren’t usually exposed to such information.
A bewildered expression sprawled over Gong Ruini’s face, returning to her courtyard, sitting under the eaves.
Though unsure if Cao Na would usually discuss such matters with Zhao Guangran, given her childish behavior on this issue, it’s likely there hadn’t been much discussion.
Was it that Cao Na lacked the ability to discuss, or did the Cao family believe Zhao Guangran wasn’t cut out for it, deeming it unnecessary to discuss these matters? Gong Ruini didn’t know.
Yet, Chu Ling’s behavior genuinely surprised Gong Ruini; a Chu family junior who had stayed in Beijing for years, with little connection to Yangcheng, knowing so much was surely due to the Chu family keeping a close eye on Yangcheng regularly.
"What’s wrong?" Gong Ruini made quite a commotion upon returning, though Zhao Xuran didn’t mind, since nothing major was happening.
Surprisingly, Gong Ruini sat right under the eaves, even though the window was often open, letting out warmth, and the eaves’ platform had no snow, especially with the sun now warming it up, it was cozy. Why didn’t Ni Zi just go inside to place her things down?
Looking up to see that Gong Ruini held nothing in her hands, just sitting so foolishly, what happened to her?
Could it be that blockhead Gong Ruwen, after learning of Zhao Guangran and Cao Na’s matter, came to preach to Chu Ling similarly?
Don’t think it wasn’t possible, "Don’t tell me that fool Gong Ruwen went and told Chu Ling everything?"
After even a comment or two from her brother to Cao Na, the lady’s expression was already frosty, how much angrier would an even more prominent Chu Ling be?
Zhao Xuran was troubled over how to persuade regarding this matter, for Zhao Guangran and Cao Na, he lacked both the time and the mood to mediate, but Gong Ruwen’s situation was something he couldn’t neglect.
"He might have said something, but surprisingly, Chu Ling was analyzing the family fortunes of Yangcheng with my brother, and their relationships."
"And even discussing with my brother how to handle this," Gong Ruini voiced her concerns.
"Do you think they’re concerned enough about Yangcheng to also keep an eye on us?" After all, with them being under their noses, it’s hard to imagine they wouldn’t pay attention.
Silly girl, worrying about it now seems a bit late, "They would have already studied us thoroughly."
"And with my mom receiving such a big order, do you think the upper levels wouldn’t have done their due diligence before confirming the order?" Back then, he helped organize the data and went through endless questioning before securing the order.
Gong Ruini was stunned; she never imagined it to be so complex, even considering it as a task beyond earning money. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Watching the dumbfounded Gong Ruini, Zhao Xuran hesitated and decided not to mention if there were representatives supervising at the factory, to avoid scaring her.
