Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master
Chapter 103 - 86: Heaven and Earth Profound Yellow Universe Hong Huang
At the waterslide, after Fatty An had left, Li Qian took the elevator to the top and saw the various riots breaking out in Lingshui City.
He was deeply concerned and sent everyone else back to the Cultivation Base. As a result, only Li Qian and Elder Tie, who was guarding the perimeter, remained at the waterslide.
After everyone had departed, Li Qian stared at the flames rising in the distance, his brows furrowed in a tight knot.
Based on the current situation, the riots hadn’t yet spread to the Cultivation Base, which was a good thing.
However, he couldn’t be certain that the Cultivation Base would remain safe.
"What troubled times," he sighed. Without a moment’s hesitation, he descended from the top of the waterslide and went to the side of the pool.
’Forget it. Out of sight, out of mind. Right now, I neither want to get involved nor have the ability to do so...’
Having made his decision, he wasted no time. He immediately took a Koi Carp from the pool and placed it in the pit of water at the Array Hub, in the center of the newly prepared Frostfire Array.
The most pressing matter at hand was to complete the evolution of all the Koi Carp as quickly as possible.
Then he could return to the Cultivation Base with all the Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragons and Frostfire Salamanders.
Barring any extreme circumstances, that should be enough to guarantee the safety of the Cultivation Base.
And so, he immediately got to work, using his Spiritual Power to begin activating the Frostfire Array.
Li Qian was well aware that the Energy Jade Talismans engraved with the Array Patterns had a limited number of uses.
Once that limit was exceeded, the Energy Jade Talismans would sustain damage, and the Array would either lose its effect or be weakened.
He had yet to determine the exact number, but based on his estimates, it should be more than ten.
That was enough to support the evolution of the ten remaining Koi Carp.
With a determined gaze, Li Qian acted without hesitation. The Frostfire Array was instantly triggered, and it began to radiate two completely different kinds of light.
The two disparate lights began to converge on the central Array Hub, eventually merging into a new kind of light that slowly seeped into the Koi Carp’s body.
He was quite confident about this particular Koi Carp.
Of all ten Koi Carp, it was the one that had endured the longest under the Intimidation training.
If even it failed to evolve, the outlook for the remaining nine Koi Carp would be even more grim.
The reason Li Qian chose it to go first was that it had the highest chance of success.
If it evolved successfully, it would not only get things off to a great start but also encourage the remaining nine Koi Carp.
As the brown, fused Energy seeped in, the Koi Carp’s body began to emit pulses of the Light of Evolution.
Li Qian could feel the Koi Carp’s agony; its body seemed to convulse because of it.
However, perhaps the pain did not exceed its tolerance, or perhaps the Intimidation training was paying off.
In the end, it safely weathered this first surge of evolutionary power.
Having overcome the first evolutionary surge and broken the first of its life’s shackles, the Koi Carp felt exhausted, but what filled its heart was more excitement and joy than fatigue.
It could feel itself becoming tangibly stronger.
If, before, the saying ’Fish Leaping the Dragon Gate’ was just a beautiful but unattainable dream, like a flower in a mirror or the moon reflected in water... at this moment, it could genuinely feel the existence of the Dragon Gate.
But to leap over the Dragon Gate, it still needed to overcome two more hurdles.
It was filled with confidence.
This confidence stemmed from both Li Qian, the master of the Cultivation Base, and its own diligent efforts in training.
The first surge passed, and soon, the second one followed. Li Qian focused his mind, not daring to be the slightest bit careless, and diligently controlled the output of his Spiritual Power.
Soon, the second Light of Evolution also flared up. Everything appeared to be going smoothly, but Li Qian knew in his heart that this smoothness was just a facade.
For the evolution into a Frostfire Salamander, the first two evolutionary surges presented almost no difficulty—at least, not for the Koi Carp from the Cultivation Base that had undergone such rigorous training.
The truly difficult part, the one with the highest probability of failure, was the third evolution—the one that came with the blood-red Light of Evolution.
And just as he suspected, the second evolutionary surge was almost identical to the first, completed with very little effort.
’Whether it succeeds or not all comes down to this,’ Li Qian murmured to himself as he watched the third, blood-red Light of Evolution flare up shortly after the second light had faded.
After the blood-red Light of Evolution ignited, he could clearly perceive the Koi Carp’s body twisting more violently, the pain it endured obviously more intense.
Li Qian watched silently, helpless to aid the struggling Koi Carp. At a time like this, everything depended on its own willpower.
Although he was confident in the Koi Carp’s resilience, it was impossible not to worry now that the evolution had reached this stage.
Just as Li Qian was watching with rapt attention, he felt that the time was right. In that exact instant, the blood-red Light of Evolution suddenly erupted, forming a crimson pillar of light a hundred meters tall.
Seeing this, Li Qian let out a long breath. The Koi Carp he had sent first had finally evolved successfully.
Immediately after, a familiar scene appeared. The blood-red Light of Evolution suffused the area, and within the light, the silhouette of a massive beast was faintly visible.
A moment later, the blood-red Light of Evolution receded, and an awe-inspiring Frostfire Salamander stood before Li Qian’s eyes.
"Heaven and Earth, Profound and Yellow, Universe and Primordial Chaos... I’ll call you ’Demon Heaven’!" Li Qian murmured. ’This time,’ he thought, ’I’m not so bad at naming things. This name has some flair; at least it sounds formidable.’
Moreover, choosing this name also embodied a hopeful wish of his.
The full phrase—"Heaven and Earth, Profound and Yellow, Universe and Primordial Chaos"—was eight words long. Li Qian hoped that he would have at least eight successful evolutions this time, which would fill up all eight name slots.
Of course, nine successes, or even a perfect ten, would be better still, but Li Qian knew that was practically impossible.
And, just as he had predicted, time flew by, and the evolutions succeeded one after another. However, this momentum was broken with the fourth Koi Carp.
The Koi Carp that he had planned to name "Mo Huang" upon success failed, getting stuck on the third evolutionary surge.
"Sigh." Li Qian could only let out a helpless sigh, a faint sense of regret welling up in his heart.
Meanwhile, near the West Suburb Hydroelectric Power Station, an even more ferocious battle had erupted.
Two men and one woman, three Beast Masters who all looked to be over forty, had each summoned four Pet Beasts to command in battle.
Four contracted Pet Beasts, and for all three of them—this meant that all three were Dominator Level Beast Masters!
Three Dominator Level Beast Masters gathered in one place. It was a good thing no one was around to see them; otherwise, they would have been utterly astounded.
