After he gave the password, the Red Fox on guard duty quickly opened the door.

Mo Yan asked, "Where are the zaizai?"

The Red Fox whimpered twice and pointed to the kitchen. When Mo Yan went over to look, he found the kitchen in a complete mess.

A few blackened, unidentifiable objects were sitting on the table. Da Hu was studying the cause of their failure.

Xiao Yu sat on a small stool, swinging his tail out of boredom and chatting with Da Hu from time to time. Xiao Hu was so sleepy he could barely keep his eyes open, forcing himself to stay awake.

Little Serpent and Little Wolf were lying lazily in a corner. Only Fuzai was full of energy, hopping up and down, though no one knew what he was busy with.

Mo Yan pressed his hand to his forehead in resignation. "Everyone, stop what you’re doing. Come have something to eat."

Fuzai was the first to arrive. Blinking his big eyes, he asked, "Beast Father, what delicious thing did Female Mother make?"

"Sugar-roasted chestnuts and tanghulu," Mo Yan said in a gentle voice. "Beast Father will peel the chestnuts for you."

"Da Hu, stop studying that for now. Beast Father will look into it with you later."

Da Hu hopped off his stool and said, troubled, "Beast Father, I keep getting it wrong."

"Don’t worry," Mo Yan said with a smile, patting his little head. "This is actually quite difficult to make. There’s no need to rush. We have plenty of time."

He stayed for a good while, washing the zaizai and tucking them into bed. He also cleaned up the kitchen before he left.

Today was Yu An’s day off. By the time Mo Yan got back, the others had already returned to their own rooms.

He went to Yu An’s room to give her the pearls that Xiao Yu had recently cried.

Yu An was still awake. "Mo Yan, you just got back?"

’She thought Mo Yan had returned much earlier. Just how long was he with the zaizai?’

"The zaizai had me tell them stories," Mo Yan said, handing her the pearls. "Xiao Yu wanted me to give these to you."

When Yu An saw the bag of pearls, the corner of her mouth twitched. "Why did he cry so many again? Did they make Xiao Yu cut onions?"

"No," Mo Yan said helplessly. "Xiao Yu said he watched the story of the Little Merfolk again and couldn’t help it."

Yu An let out a chuckle. "That little guy. Every time he watches it, he cries a whole bowl of little pearls."

Merfolk do cry easily. Otherwise, where would that layer of pearls at the bottom of the Treasure Pearl Sea have come from?

Yu An had already amassed a huge pile of them, all cried by that father-son duo.

With the delivery made, Mo Yan prepared to go back to his room. Before he left, he tucked in the corners of Yu An’s blanket.

He leaned down and kissed Yu An’s forehead, teasing, "Get some rest. No staying up late, or you’ll be complaining about being tired and sleepy again tomorrow night."

Yu An’s face flushed red, and she covered it with the blanket. "Go, go! You’re not allowed to say that!"

Mo Yan chuckled softly, pulling the blanket off her face before he left.

Having gotten used to the routine yesterday, they began processing the ingredients needed for the day on the second morning, without waiting for Yu An to assign tasks.

Yu An had been awake for a while, but the bed was too cozy to leave. She lazed around for a bit before finally getting up.

It was now winter, but it hadn’t snowed yet. Yu An had only heard Mo Yan and the others describe the snowy scenes of past years.

In the Beastman Continent, it only snowed once a year. Whenever snow was approaching, the weather would turn gloomy for a few days. The Beastmen would prepare food in advance and stay cooped up at home.

Today, the weather was nice. They had just finished preparing the day’s ingredients and were about to head out when Ao Si rushed in.

"Little Sister, drop what you’re doing for now. Female Mother is here!"

Yu An was first surprised, then confused. "Why is Female Mother here? Isn’t she at the Invincible Alliance?"

After she and Yu Huang parted ways last time, Yu Huang had said she needed to go back to the Invincible Alliance to take care of some things, including investigating why the Invincible Alliance was capturing young cubs from the Beastman Continent.

"I don’t know either," Ao Si said, shaking his head. "Female Mother specifically asked to see you."

Yu An said at once, "Then let’s go over now."

’The tasks can wait. Female Mother is the most important thing!’

Mo Yan and Han Li went to the zaizai’s courtyard, while Feng Xuan and the other two followed Yu An to see Yu Huang.

When they arrived at the Dragon Clan’s guest reception area, Yu An saw her Beast Father from a distance, standing before her Female Mother and grinning like a flower in full bloom.

Yu Huang, however, was expressionless and stared straight ahead, completely ignoring him.

Ao Si was used to it. He even said to Yu An, "Little Sister, you’ll get used to it. Beast Father always acts like this when he sees Female Mother."

He glanced at Ao Wu and whispered, "Little Sister, be careful of Xiao Wu... um, that pervert. He wants you to hit him."

He even said something about how when a slap comes, the fragrance floats over first, then the palm, and in the end, it’s not painful, but pleasurable.

Yu An: "Huh?"

Ao Wu looked over sharply. "Fourth Brother, what bad things are you saying about me now?"

"Nothing, nothing," Ao Si said, waving his hands dismissively and changing the subject. "Let’s hurry over. We shouldn’t keep Female Mother waiting."

Yu Huang knew the Ao Jin before her was her Beast Husband from before she lost her memories, which was why she had never dealt him a fatal blow, no matter how annoying he had been over the years.

But now, she suddenly had the urge to beat this man to death.

He was blocking her view of her precious daughter!

"A Huang, what do you think of this? I specially..."

Just as Ao Jin was chattering endlessly about the new trinket he had bought for Yu Huang, she suddenly stood up and casually pushed him aside.

The shameless Ao Wu also joined in the commotion. Feng Xuan and Lan Ying, who actually had some sense of shame, settled for loudly muttering complaints about Poisonous Insect Granny.
