Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love
Chapter 501 - 432 I Promise Not to Steal Children Anymore (Second Update)
Tong Airui stretched his neck to glance at the two kids on the bed, reluctantly following Yi Luowa out of the door.
Tong Aino pulled Connie along as they came out as well. Connie gently shut the door, pursing her lips as she looked at Yi Luowa.
Yi Luowa wrinkled her nose. šššššØš²šššØšÆšš.šš¼šŗ
Connie covered her mouth and burst out laughing.
"What are you laughing at?" Tong Aino nudged her.
"Laughing at how pitiful sis-in-law looks. Did you see the reluctant look on her and broās faces when they came out after looking at the kids?" Connie finished speaking and immediately glanced at the door to her mother-in-lawās room. Thankfully, the door was soundproof; whatever they said outside wouldnāt be heard inside.
"Having someone help raise the kids is great! Iām even worried about how, when itās our turn to have a baby, no one will be there to help us." Tong Aino raised an eyebrow at Tong Airui. "Bro, isnāt it awesome to just produce kids without having to raise them?"
"Awesome!" Tong Airui glared at him irritably.
"Oh~ Look whoās not happy. Stop pretending to complain when youāve got it good." Whistling, Tong Aino returned to the room. In less than a minute, he came back out holding a box.
Tong Airui eyed the box suspiciously.
"No use gawkingāitās not for you," Tong Aino said with a grin as he handed the box to Yi Luowa. "These past few days, I was bored, so I made two guns for you. One gold, one silver. The gold one is for tranquilizer dartsāuse it to handle my bro and silly You. The silver one shoots bullets; youāll definitely find a use for it later."
"Thanks~" Yi Luowa replied with a sweet smile, took the box, and opened it, pulling out the silver gun. "Are there bullets for this?"
"Didnāt load it, afraid you might accidentally fire it. Bullets are stored in the basement; ten boxes of each type. Thatāll keep you entertained for a while. Go practice there when you have time. If you donāt know how..."
"Iāll teach you!" Tong Airui smirked.
Tong Aino shot him a disdainful look. "Look at you being all scared. I didnāt say I was going to teach."
Tong Airui glared at him. "Come here, I need to talk to you."
"No way! Youāll probably hit me." Tong Aino threw an arm around Connieās shoulders and tried to head back to his room.
Tong Airui gave him a sideways glance. "I mean serious business."
Tong Aino looked at him. Seeing that he didnāt seem to be joking, he laughed and walked over.
Tong Airui leaned close to his ear and whispered something.
Tong Aino froze. "How could you be so careless?! Iāll go now."
Tong Airui shook his head. "Go tomorrow. Come up with a proper excuse before heading out."
Tong Aino scratched his head. "Iāll make a phone call to her first."
Connie followed Tong Aino into the room, puzzled. "What happened?" she asked.
Tong Aino slammed the door angrily. "Ai Ni was in a car accident. Her head got injured, and she almost lost the baby."
Connieās eyes immediately welled up with tears. "What about now?"
"Bro went to check last night and said sheās mostly okay. Connie, contact the S Country branch immediately. Have them call me during breakfast tomorrowāI need an excuse to go see Ai Ni. Theyāre still keeping it from everyone and donāt have anyone around. If You Jia has to step out, Ai Ni will be all alone."
"Iāll go with you to take care of Ai Ni," Connie said, heading to the balcony with her phone.
Tong Aino glanced at her before pulling out his own phone.
While the two arranged to head to S Country, Tong Airui was busy on his end as well. Just as he and Yi Luowa entered their room, Dapengās call came through.
After listening to Dapeng, Tong Airui replied in a deep voice, "Be careful. Iāll start arranging immediately."
"Understood!"
After ending the call, Tong Airui paced around the room for a moment. "Wife, you go ahead and sleep. I need to head upstairs for a conference call."
"Alright." Yi Luowa took out their pajamas and placed them on the bed.
"Donāt wait for me; no idea how long itāll take." Tong Airui apologetically patted her head.
Seeing the redness in his eyes, Yi Luowa felt distressed. "Try to hurry. You didnāt sleep well last night."
"Iāll do my best."
Though Tong Airui promised to be quick, the meeting ended up lasting until 3 a.m.
With him still away, Yi Luowa couldnāt rest properly. Half-asleep, she had the feeling someone was standing next to the bed. Initially, she thought it was Tong Airui. But rubbing her eyes, she saw it was You.
Startled, Yi Luowa let out a squeal and sat up. "Youyou, how did you get in here?"
"Opened the door and came in." You held up a thin piece of wire, her face serious.
"You canāt just sneak into someoneās room in the middle of the night like thatāyouāll scare them to death!" Yi Luowa got out of bed barefoot and took Youās hand. "Come on, Iāll take you back to sleep."
"Sis, where did Mi Chenxuan go for his mission? I canāt reach him." You pouted and stared at her.
"I donāt know where he went, but I know heāll be back soon."
"Youāre lying!"
"Iām not lying. You two are about to have your weddingāhe wouldnāt miss that. Do you need to tell him something? If itās urgent, I can ask Tong Airui to pass along the message for you."
"He wouldnāt pass along anything for me!" You sniffled. "I messed up today. Iām afraid my brother-in-law will warn Mi Chenxuan not to come back and marry me."
Yi Luowa burst out laughing. "Itās just about taking the kidsāitās not that serious."
"Itās not serious? Uncle said heād cut off my hand. My brother-in-law said heād chop off my foot. And then you walked away without saying a word to me." You clung to Yi Luowaās shoulders, sobbing. "Sis, Iād rather you scold me than give me the cold shoulder."
"I was mad at you. Those kids are so littleāafter studying with the nanny for so long, I still struggle to hold them properly. You havenāt studied at all; what if something happened? That wouldāve been a disaster!" Yi Luowa gently patted her cheeks. "But I wasnāt trying to give you the cold shoulder. I was just exhausted and wanted to get some rest."
"Sis, my brother-in-law wouldnāt stop Mi Chenxuan from coming back, right?"
"Of course not. But if you steal the kids again, that might change."
Yi Luowa gave her a serious look.
"I promise I wonāt take the kids anymore."
You raised her hand to swear, but Yi Luowa quickly pulled it back down.
"No need to swear. I believe you."
You pressed her lips together. "Sis, I overheard my brother-in-law talking in the studyāhe said thereās going to be a war."
Yi Luowa glanced at her helplessly. "Stop eavesdropping on him. Even if you accidentally overheard something, donāt share it with anyone. These are secrets!"
You chuckled. "Sis, youāre more professional than I amāI need to learn from you."
Yi Luowa smiled and whispered, "Whereās the war going to be?"
You shot her a disdainful look. "Werenāt you just lecturing me about not spilling secrets? Why are you asking now?"
Yi Luowa cleared her throat and puffed her chest proudly. "When my maternity leave is over, Iāll be your brother-in-lawās advisor. Even if you donāt tell me, he will."
You pouted. "Oh, the esteemed Advisor Yi."
Yi Luowa laughingly tapped her. "Come on, spill itāwhereās the fight going to be?"
"R Country is stirring up trouble, sending troops to the borders..." You paused dramatically.
Yi Luowa glanced at her and shook her head. "Them declaring war on us? Doesnāt sound likely. You mustāve misunderstood."
"I wasnāt finishedāitās not us theyāre targeting; itās Haotian. But Haotian is so close to Xiawuāit could spill over here. Your brother-in-law is busy rallying the troops."
Yi Luowa smacked her lightly. "How long have you been eavesdropping? If your brother-in-law finds out, he might actually cut off your foot."
You pouted and rubbed her arm. "Iāve never been caught while eavesdropping. I just wanted to see where Mi Chenxuan was sent. Instead, he was only talking about war stuff."
Yi Luowa frowned slightly. "You, hurry back. Theyāre rallying troops, which means your brother-in-law will be back soon. If he sees you awake at this hour, heāll lose his temper again."
You pouted. "Fine, Iāll leave."
