Seoha’s POV

I moan in my sleep as I relive the past five days in my sleep.

Taesan being beaten to pulp and him just taking it because of his daughter. Taesan not waking up for days. Taesan’s body healing slowly.

I force myself out of the dream, telling myself that he’s awake now.

The held me in his arms, he spoke to me...everything is going to be fine now...right?

I finally open my eyes, sniffling as I turn to my side just to see that I’m all alone on the bed.

"That man" I whisper and sit up, rubbing at my eyes to wake myself up.

My skin feels hot, and I groan tiredly as I get out of bed, I feel strangely tired, but I need to find the alpha first of all.

The doctor from the Hwang’s said he should get rest, the poison is still in his system, and some of the injuries are still healing...but I know that man will do the opposite.

"Mafia bonehead" I mutter under my breath even though my heart is pounding with fear for insulting the man.

He can easily put a bullet through my head, and no one will look for me...maybe Minjae would...

I open the room door and bump into an unhappy looking Choyeon.

She looks less polished than I have ever seen her, her hair is combed but unstyled, she still looks beautiful but the expression on her face is ugly.

My eyes immediately drop to the floor, I bow apologetically, but before I get the chance to walk away, she pulls me back.

"Are you happy now huh?" she asks, her eyes are red rimmed as she looks at me with anger.

"Choyeon-ssi, let me go" I say quietly but she holds me even tighter, "Jaemin is mad at me because of you" she hisses.

I pull my hand out of her grip and she stumbles backwards, flashing her teeth at me.

"Wow...a new low, pushing a woman" she says with a sneer, and I take a safety step away from her.

"I really don’t know why you hate me when I’ve never done anything wrong to you" I say and she laughs.

"You used witchcraft on that girl, didn’t you?"

"What?" I ask in confusion.

How can someone even come to that conclusion? Is everyone related to Taesan really like this? Are they all...deranged?

"She never called me mommy! I should be the one taking care of her, Jaemin pays me to...you know what, never mind, I’ll get rid of you myself" she hisses and walks away.

I blink at her retreating back...I can never get used to the strange things and people in this world.

’It’s our world now’ my omega gently purrs and I sigh in agreement.

This is my world now, I’m involved, my parents were involved, my ex-boyfriend is involved, my mate is involved...Minjae is also involved unintentionally.

I follow the smell of food to the kitchen and find Taesan dishing out ramyeon into four bowls, I widen my eyes as I realize that he must have made it by himself.

Sooin is sitting on the counter with Jisu standing next to her.

My heart softens at the sight in front of me; they look normal...everything looks normal, as if everything is the way it should be.

Father, daughter, a welcomed employee...

My pheromones spike at the thought of being in the picture too, happy and in love.

Taesan’s nose twitches and he turns his head to find the scent. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

The man’s searching eyes find me, and I blush as they flash red with his alpha’s presence, it’s brief but possessive.

"Hello" I say in a cracked voice and Sooin immediately turns to find me.

"Daddy! Daddy is here!" she says and when Jisu helps her down; she runs to me with a smile, throwing her arms around my legs.

"Hi" I say, patting her head without breaking eye contact with her father.

"We made breakfast for you" she says and I look down at her sweet little face, "really?" I ask and she nods.

"How did you know I wanted ramyeon?" I ask and she starts to bounce happily.

"Because dad loves you and me!" she says, pulling me to the seat while I am thrown off guard.

Dad...loves me?

"Daddy, wait, I’ll show you my bunny, Jisu unnie come on!" Sooin says, full of energy as she leaves with Jisu.

Wait...should she be at school?

I don’t take my seat yet, because the alpha didn’t give me permission to and because I can’t take my eyes off him.

Kang Taesan is bare chested and wearing a small smile.

The fine muscles on his chest and the growing stubble all makes him look handsome, he doesn’t seem like a man that was near death just hours ago.

"Hey" he says gruffly and I drop my eyes from his face, suddenly feeling shy.

The alpha comes to my side and places his hand on my neck, "how are you feeling?" he asks and I blink.

"I- I uh..." I gulp and he takes his hands off; he holds my cheeks and tilts my head backwards so that we are eye to eye.

"Does anything hurt?" he asks in a softer tone that doesn’t match his action, and I shake my head.

"I feel fine" I say, melting into the alpha’s touch.

I’ve seen him threaten people with death, I’ve seen him covered in blood, he has taken me day three day straight, raw and naked...but this feels...different.

"You’re burning up" he states and I shake my head, I really do feel fine.

"I’m..." the alpha doesn’t wait for me to finish my words, he places his hands on my shoulder and makes me sit.

"You took care of me, it’s my turn" he says and I can’t help the blush that crawls up my face.

"Thank you..." I say quietly.

The sound of footsteps and giggles breaks the moment as Sooin returns with a stuffed bunny.

"This is Hanuel! It’s blue" she announces and places the toy in my lap.

"You too Jisu, sit. Come here princess" Taesan says and lifts his daughter up.

"Dad" Sooin giggles and my eyes automatically go to his wrist as the man winces when she squirms.

"Your hand..."

"Eat" he says and takes the seat across the table, pulling his own bowl of ramyeon to himself and starts eating.

I watch him for some minutes, heart thumping softly, and cheeks still burning.

Is this it...everything is...okay?
