"No Epic grade."

Noah wasn’t surprised.

The World of Demons was fundamentally a Third Order instance. Its Extreme difficulty and the presence of many Fourth Order enemies had already pushed the reward quality up to Perfect grade.

Because Noah possessed Refinement authority, there was a chance for rewards to increase by one tier.

That meant Epic grade was possible.

But only possible.

Even if Epic items appeared in the pool, they weren’t guaranteed to drop. The gap between a Third Order instance and Epic-grade rewards was simply too large. Even with bonuses from first clear, Extreme difficulty, SSS evaluation, and authority privileges, the probability remained extremely low.

So seeing no Epic-grade items in the rewards list didn’t bother him.

It didn’t matter.

He had Specify Reward.

That was the real advantage.

As long as an item appeared anywhere in the drop pool—

no matter how low its probability—

he could forcibly choose it.

Of course, all of this had one condition—

the item had to appear in the drop list.

This time, Noah’s luck was only average. His authority hadn’t triggered an upgrade, so no Epic-grade items appeared.

His gaze swept quickly across the purple-glowing Perfect-grade rewards. Soon, he spotted what he wanted.

A Small Spirit Vein.

Without hesitation, he selected it.

The drop list vanished, and the item was stored in his inventory.

"Again."

Noah remained completely calm.

If it didn’t appear once, he would simply try again. Every use of Specify Reward recalculated the probabilities.

And he had plenty of attempts.

A full ten Third Order Specify Rewards.

"Use temporary authority: Specify Reward."

Another reward list appeared before him.

There was still no golden light.

Not only was there no golden light, but even the Small Spirit Vein was gone. Clearly, Perfect grade items were also random.

This was naturally because the Instance rank was only Three-order. Items of Ordinary, Fine, and Rare grades all appeared and would not change.

Noah selected a Perfect grade item at the fastest speed.

With his current super high Spirit value, he processed it very quickly. Although there were many Perfect grade items, he could examine their attributes and make a decision in a very short time.

"Continue."

After two consecutive instances of bad luck, on this third attempt, there was finally a rebound from the bottom. A golden light entered Noah’s vision.

"Gold dropped."

Noah was overjoyed and quickly looked.

[sublimation stone]

[Quality: epic]

[Type: Item]

[Select an item and increase its quality by one level, not exceeding Epic grade. Can only be used on equipment, items, and materials.]

"Can only be used on equipment, items, and materials. Does this mean that the quality of skills and special items cannot be increased? Or is a higher level required?"

Noah’s heart stirred slightly.

He didn’t think too much and chose the subimation stone without hesitation.

Although it was a one-time item, its value was by no means low. Noah still had some items that were worth upgrading to Epic grade.

"Continue."

The fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh times, there was no gold drop for four consecutive times. Although there was a Small Spirit Vein to choose from, Noah was a bit disappointed, thinking his luck had run out.

However, on the eighth time using Specify Reward, another golden light appeared at the top of the drop list.

"The second Epic."

Noah felt his spirits rise as he quickly checked its attributes.

[Source Of Demons]

[Quality : Epic]

[Type : Material]

[Description L The origin of demons and monsters, containing mysterious power. A unique item.]

Noah : "-_-!"

He stared at the item, completely stunned.

He had not expected something like this to drop, and it was even a unique item.

The source of demon?

Lily had read the memories of the Green Snake Demon and learned that these creatures had no idea where they came from. Perhaps higher order demons knew the truth, or maybe they were just as clueless.

Now Noah finally understood that they really did have a source.

A unique item meant that once Noah choose it, this instance would never drop the Source Of Monsters again.

It was not a big loss though. The Extreme Difficulty was time limited, and aside form Noah’s team, no one on Blue Star could clear it anyway.

In High Difficult, if someone had the Refinement permission and enough heaven defying luck, there was a chance for an Epic item to drop. However, the probability was extremely low. Just how absurd would that kind of luck have to be?

High difficulty was also time limited, and no one else on Blue Star possessed the required permission.

As for Ordinary difficulty, it was simply impossible for an Epic item to drop, no matter how heaven defying one’s luck might be. Because of that Noah taking the source of demons would not affect any future challengers.

So, should he choose it?

Noah hesitated for a moment. The main issue was that, although it was Epic quality, it was still just a material.

He had obtained quite a few materials from the instances he had cleared, but most of them were just lying unused in his backpack. He was worried this one would end up the same, becoming a complete waste in his hands.

After thinking it over for a moment, Noah finally made his decision.

He choose it.

After all, it was Epic quality.

Perfect quality items would gradually stop keeping up with his growth. Epic quality, on the other hand, was still valuable. Even if he could not use it himself, he could always trade it at the Civilization Convergence Zone.

The last two specified rewards did not yield any gold.

Noah was not disappointed. Getting two Epic items was already a huge gain.

At the same time, he came to a realization.

There were simply too few Epic items that could drop from this instance.

Generally speaking, instance drops were divided into two categories, featured items and general items. Featured items were tied to the nature of the instance and had a higher drop rate, while general items could appear in any instance but had an extremely low drop rate.

Most instance rewards mainly consisted of featured items.

The Sublimation Stone was clearly a general item. It did not belong exclusively to the World of Demons instance.

The same applied to items like the Intermediate Skill Crystal and the Talent Upgrade Pill. These were all general items. Noah had never seen them appear in standard clearance rewards and had only obtained them through draws.

Looking at the two Epic items Noah had obtained, the first was the Sublimation Stone, a general item, and the second was the Source of Monsters, a unique item. This alone spoke volumes.

Just because the World of Demons was only a Three order instance did not mean it should be underestimated. Its upper limit was far beyond what its rank suggested, even if it was still lower than the Tier 2 Mythical Three Kingdoms Red Cliff instance.
