BTTH: Rebirth of Liu Xi
Chapter 534: The Scenery
The thunderclouds dispersed, and the sky once again cleared to a bright, tranquil blue. Fragments of torn space gradually began to heal, while the Heavenly Demon Puppet descended steadily to the ground. Yet just as it landed, a faint shadow shot upward like lightning. The afterimage solidified midair into a translucent, green-haired figure—its form vaguely human, though its features were blurred and indistinct.
"I’ve already caught two of you," Liu Xi said with a faint smile, stepping through the air as ripples spread around him. "One more won’t make a difference. Be good, and come back."
In the blink of an eye, he appeared before the figure. The shadow’s expression was unreadable, but it emanated waves of emotion—fear, panic, desperation. Then it turned to flee, blurring into a stream of light. Liu Xi, however, simply raised his hand. The space around them instantly froze solid as though turned to crystal. The trembling figure was caught in that moment of stillness, unable to move an inch.
Liu Xi’s fingers tightened, and the frozen space distorted violently—twisting, compressing, collapsing inward until the flickering shadow shrank into a small, emerald-colored pill that hovered in the air. With a soft whistle, the pill shot into Liu Xi’s hand. He flipped his palm, producing a pristine jade bottle, slipped the pill inside, and sealed the mouth with a layer of his Spiritual Power, forming a transparent barrier of soul energy. Only then did he tuck the bottle back into his Storage Ring, stretch his arms lazily, and glance around at the slowly stabilizing space.
"Three Bodhisattva Enhancement Pills, all successfully refined," he murmured to himself. "Next, I’ll make some Replenishing Origin Pills, then a few others that boost cultivation speed and battle strength. I can’t come back home empty-handed."
The Heavenly Alliance now had several 7th Tier Alchemists, but not a single 8th Tier one. Pills of such high grade were precious—yet for Liu Xi, refining them was almost effortless. He didn’t mind producing a few to strengthen the Alliance; after all, his family, his teacher, and his wives all lived here. If the Heavenly Alliance were ever invaded again, it wouldn’t do to be unprepared.
From the ancient ruins, he had retrieved three Human Origin Fruits, perfect for refining Replenishing Origin Pills. One would be reserved for Xuan Hao, his old teacher, whose body had been revitalized by the Azure Spirit Life Extension Pill yet still needed a foundation strong enough to step into the Dou Zun or even Half Saint realms. The second would go to his younger brother, Liu Cheng—his parents could live peacefully now, enjoying their old age, while Liu Cheng carried the family’s banner forward. Once Liu Xi achieved the Dou Di realm, his bloodline’s divine feedback would naturally raise his family’s cultivation and extend their lives immeasurably.
As for Liu Cheng, his progress had been admirable. With this pill and his own determination, his growth would stabilize, allowing him to climb even higher in the future. One day, when Liu Xi left the Dou Qi Continent for the Great Thousand World, someone would need to lead the family—someone strong enough to maintain their legacy. Perhaps not another Xiao Xuan, but at least a man with the power of Hun Tiandi or Gu Yuan. Liu Xi refused to let his clan fall into decline under a spoiled heir who relied on nothing but bloodline strength.
The last pill, he would decide how to use later.
With a flick of his sleeve, spatial ripples spread outward, and his body vanished in a flash. A heartbeat later, he reappeared before his cauldron on Yunlan Mountain. With a wave of his hand, more than a hundred ingredients—including the Human Origin Fruits—rose into the air from jade boxes, suspended in neat rings around him. He snapped his fingers, and a burst of cyan flame ignited, shooting directly into the cauldron’s belly.
The blazing flame roared to life, illuminating the beast engravings that covered the cauldron’s surface. Under the glow of the azure fire, the beasts seemed to come alive, writhing and roaring as if they could burst free at any moment. Liu Xi’s fingers moved rhythmically, plucking up herbs and dropping them one after another into the flame. The fire burned hotter, stripping away impurities and extracting pure essence from each ingredient. The process was calm, precise—his focus unbroken.
Little did he know, his alchemy had already thrown the entire Yunlan Mountain into quiet awe. The scene unfolding in the rear mountains was nothing short of divine, yet those on the front slopes could only watch from afar, stunned into silence.
In the courtyards at the front of Yunlan Mountain, Yun Yun stood elegantly in her palace gown, her slender hands resting gracefully over her stomach. Her soft red lips were slightly parted, her beautiful eyes reflecting deep thought. "That’s the third time," she whispered. "The black lightning earlier—it must have been the legendary Black Demon Lightning. I can feel it even from here... just one strike of that thunder could have annihilated me entirely."
Leaning lazily against the railing beside her, Qing Lin’s slender figure traced a graceful silhouette under the sunlight, her green eyes shimmering faintly with the glow of the Jade Snake Three-Flower Pupils. "That’s the tribulation for refining a 9th Tier Treasure Pill. Not even you could endure that, Sister Yun Yun. Maybe Sister Xian’er could."
At the mention, Xiao Yixian lifted her head from the Sky Quiet Poison Code in her hands, her snow-white hair brushing lightly against her shoulders as she smiled faintly. "Perhaps I could withstand it, yes. But the Young Master doesn’t need me to block his tribulations. I thought that after reaching the Dou Saint realm, I’d finally be able to stand beside him. Instead..." Her eyes softened, tinged with helpless admiration. "I’m still only able to watch his back."
Qing Lin nodded gently, her tone quiet but heartfelt. "To gain such strength, Young Master endured magma, explored ruins, journeyed through countless dangers—even ventured into the perilous Ancient Wasteland Region. He’s suffered more than anyone. And yet, all I can do to help... is keep him company when he rests."
Yun Yun fell silent. Xiao Yixian blinked once, then pressed her lips together. "Rest," she echoed under her breath. They both knew perfectly well what kind of "rest" that meant. The thought made the corners of their lips twitch. If things continued like this, they would all be "sisters"—just not of the same mother.
Holding the Sky Quiet Poison Code tighter, Xiao Yixian smiled softly to herself. ’Power... I must become stronger. Only strength can keep these sisters of mine in line.’
Yun Yun’s heart stirred slightly. She turned toward the rear mountains, where Liu Xi’s figure was still immersed in flame and thunder. ’No matter how far you go, I’ll protect the Heavenly Alliance for you, care for your parents, and keep your home waiting—so you’ll always have somewhere to return to.’
A gentle breeze swept across the mountain, carrying the fragrance of medicine and the warmth of sunlight. The scenery was breathtaking—but the three stunning figures standing amidst it made it even more so. Their beauty bloomed for only one man—the one refining pills in the depths of the rear mountain. Any outsider who dared approach would find themselves pierced by their invisible thorns.
Time flowed silently. Liu Xi’s movements remained fluid and deliberate as he passed through each stage of refinement—tempering, merging, spirit infusion, nurturing. At last, the air around Yunlan Mountain shifted once more. The sky darkened; wind howled across the peaks. Yet this time, the gathering clouds shimmered with radiant hues, nine brilliant colors coiling together above the mountain.
Nine-Colored Pill Lightning.
But none of the Heavenly Alliance members panicked. They had long since grown numb to such sights. After all, even the terrifying Black Demon Lightning had struck this mountain multiple times already. What was a little Nine-Colored Pill Lightning compared to that?
Among the disciples, not a single one showed surprise. To them, this was simply another miracle of their mysterious Alliance Leader—because when it came to Liu Xi, anything was possible.
