Chapter 102: Wolf Fang

Early that morning, Dragon City guards arrived at the Academy to apprehend James, but encountered resistance from him. In the end, it became a big issue that even alerted William, who placed his full support behind James and expelled the Dragon City guards from the Academy grounds.

It was either the First Imperial Prince’s command or Gabriel’s complaint that caused the Dragon City guards to come today to apprehend James. James had committed a great offense against these two high-ranking individuals just the day before, after all.

Yet James was actually so recklessly bold as to resist arrest, and William actually defended him fully. This was such a great shock that no one could believe it.

Where did James get such courage from? And why would William protect him to the point that he did not mind going against the Ruling Family of Dragon City? Did Wolf Fang receive backing that was far stronger than them or what?!

Since neither James nor William said a word, everyone could only make their wild guesses. Could it be that James was William’s illegitimate son? Or that Wolf Fang had a few documents on him that could make a few powerhouses target him?

It was only barely over half a day, and this kind of gossip had already spread throughout the Academy and even the city.

After that, Cody even issued a warrant to collect all the evidence that proved Darius’s criminal behavior and misdeeds in his life. Anyone willing to volunteer information would be rewarded.

"Is this Cody a cockroach or something? He is obviously just a piece of trash, yet can always manage to frolic around." Darius was also at a loss for words as he sat at his receptionist desk. Cody was undoubtedly expelled from the Academy, yet in the blink of an eye, he was enrolled back in again.

"That’s because of James, and most likely the real culprit is Wolf Fang," Annie pointed out.

"Whom exactly has this guy managed to cling to, or what help has that guild managed to obtain, that even Old Man William would protect him to this extent?" Darius said, uncomprehendingly. "Even if he really was the old man’s illegitimate son, he should not be doting on him to this extent."

The only possible reason was that Wolf Fang had received backing that even William could only fully submit to, thinking that not even the Dragon City Ruling Family could contend against it, and that soon the power dynamic within the city would shift.

Annie and Shen both rolled their eyes at him. Only Darius would dare say something like that about a Celestial Human Realm elite.

"Now, Cody declares that he will be collecting proof of your misdeeds, obviously intending to embarrass you," Shen said. Cody did not have an official rank in the government, and the proof that he was collecting would not be considered valid at all. Thus, he was only planning to embarrass Darius and bring dishonor to his name.

Darius rubbed his nose and said, "Looks like Wolf Fang really considers me quite important. He not only wants to kill me, but also wants me to be completely defeated and humiliated before being killed."

Both Annie and Shen frowned. Now that William was covering for James, even the Ruler of Dragon City would have to give him some face. Thus, as long as James did not openly break the laws of the city, such as committing murder in the streets of Dragon City or something like that, he would be able to act like a tyrant, and it would be overlooked.

Darius could actually do the same as well. He had the big bosses of alchemy standing behind him, and in truth, he had even more confidence that he could do so than James.

But it was obvious that William was not James’s main backer, nor did James’s main backer have any close relationship with him. It all came down to Wolf Fang’s schemes.

"Wolf Fang’s support should come from outside Dragon City, and most likely from a force on Earth that is planning to arrive," Darius said with a tone of certainty.

James had once said boastfully that he would even be able to kill Darius in public. What did that imply? It meant that he did not even care about the authority of the Ruler of Dragon City.

There was a powerful warrior of the Divine Sect Realm overseeing things in Dragon City, but since James was able to ignore the Ruling Family of Dragon City, that obviously meant that the backer behind him would at least be in the Divine Sect Realm, and there was no other person at this cultivation level in Dragon City aside from the mysterious member of the Ruling Family.

Darius rubbed his chin. Should he go and get a license to become an alchemist or simply kill more demons and quickly raise his cultivation?

If he had the status of a Tier-2 Grade alchemist, even powerful warriors of the Divine Sect Realm would have to treat him courteously, let alone a mere Celestial Human Realm cultivator. However, the highest level of license that could be achieved in Dragon City was Tier-1 Grade High-Level, because there was no alchemist at a higher level than that. Thus, there was no one able to bear witness to his ability.

Gabriel wasn’t part of Dragon City in a sense and was an outsider, so he had no way of overseeing his test.

’Temporarily, raising my cultivation realm should be enough. I believe that even the Wolf Fang elders, after seeing a much higher cultivation level than I showed during the academy fight, would have to give me some face,’ Darius thought. If he had the status of an alchemist to protect him, then at least no one would dare oppose him openly. But such status was not something he considered important yet. He believed that only one’s cultivation and fists could write the rules. An alchemist was still an alchemist no matter how much influence they possessed.

’I had not planned to quickly raise my cultivation and attract lots of attention. But who knew I would attract trouble left and right as though I’m a living magnet for it?’ He heaved a sigh, but there was only an uncaring expression on his face.
