Campus Ace Girl
Chapter 1025 - 1024: I Came Back to Beicheng to Get Married—Is There a Problem?
Qin Siyuan chuckled softly, without saying anything more.
Tonight is the wedding night, even if the timing isn’t great, even if so many things have happened, it’s still the wedding night tonight.
*
On the same night, Gu Anxi and Bo Xichen were in the Si Garden in Beicheng.
In the evening, King Jingyao and Lin Hua came over for dinner, discussed some matters with Bo Xichen’s mother, and left. By the time Gu Anxi was ready to rest, it was already late. She’d been busy for two days but wasn’t the least bit tired; instead, she leaned on the terrace sofa gazing into the distance.
After discussing some matters with his mother, Bo Xichen returned and found her like this, grinning as he sat beside her: "What are you thinking about?"
Without turning back, Gu Anxi rested her chin on the back of her hand and murmured: "Mingzhu’s wedding should be over by now." 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
"Are you missing her or..." Uncle Bo paused and then chuckled: "Or is it Qin Siyuan?"
Gu Anxi kicked him: "Uncle, you’re talking nonsense."
"Am I?" He leaned over and cuddled her gently: "Do you want to watch the fireworks?"
She shook her head: "No."
After a while, she said somewhat foolishly: "Before, when it hurt so much and was so painful, I couldn’t keep going. But now I wonder if it was all to meet you."
Bo Xichen lowered his head and murmured: "When did you start speaking so sweetly?"
"I’ve always been sweet. You just didn’t discover my talent, Uncle." She pouted, complaining.
He embraced her from behind and suddenly asked about another matter: "Isn’t Lu Heng still in Qingcheng?"
She hesitated and finally said: "He fractured his bone."
"Hmm?" He bent his head to question her.
The little charmer assertively: "I didn’t intentionally invite him; he insisted on coming to Qingcheng and clung to my car door. I’m not to blame. He’s a grown man; it’s not my fault he doesn’t understand the Three No Injuries policy."
Bo Xichen, amused and exasperated, patted her: "I haven’t blamed you, yet you sure have plenty of excuses."
"It’s not my fault anyway, Uncle. You can’t punish me." She turned and buried herself in his embrace, mischievous and coy, knowing he would never actually get mad at her.
Enjoying the cool breeze together, he whispered to her about the wedding until he realized the young girl in his arms had fallen asleep.
Feeling bemused, he lightly tugged her ear.
What a carefree heart!
Only she would be so indifferent and unconcerned about her once-in-a-lifetime wedding.
Afraid she’d catch a cold, he lifted her and walked towards the master bedroom. After a few steps, she seemed to wake and softly called him Uncle. He gently patted her head: "Go back to sleep."
She clung to his sleeve, whispering: "You can’t work either."
He chuckled softly, tucked her in bed, then turned to the bathroom for a shower. By the time he came out, she was fast asleep. In the middle of the night, feeling sleepless, Bo Xichen went out to smoke a couple of cigarettes before returning to cuddle her and drift off.
Due to exhaustion, he didn’t wake until eight the next morning. Rising, he glanced at the little one beside him and smiled.
Si Garden was buzzing with activity—Bo Jin, his aunt had returned to help, while Robert took care of the kids. In Qingcheng, Gu Yuntian and his wife were due back in a couple of days. Shen Wanqing’s mother would be picked up upon discharge. Everything was arranged perfectly; Gu Anxi could enjoy herself without worry.
Yet at Yunxi Hospital, she still visited occasionally, mostly for entertainment. She wasn’t foolish; she could see Director Hao’s feelings for Qin Siling. Watching a forty-year-old straight man pursue a woman was quite amusing, and Bo Xichen knew about her little amusement, but was helpless, merely cautioning her against joking with Director Hao.
Gu Anxi protested: "Uncle, I’m not teasing him; I’m usually the divine assistant."
Professor Bo flipped through files, dismissively: "Your assistances are overwhelming for most."
Like the other time, she tricked Chu Huan by claiming Little An was about to become a fool, leading the Chu Family to abandon Little An. Though the outcome was positive, she was too mischievous, and he couldn’t leave her unsupervised.
To this day, Professor Bo remembered when she turned a chicken in the city’s east into triplets, shamelessly claiming Wang Qin was some fortune teller.
Gu Anxi squeezed beside him, sprawling like a puppy: "I’m bored, Uncle. Let me go play for a while."
Bo Xichen grabbed her: "If you’re bored, help me review a set of data."
"No salary," she muttered excuses and snuck away.
Bo Xichen shook his head, utterly helpless, knowing she’d probably gone to see Director Hao. With Director Hao’s skill, he’d certainly end up confessing the truth to her with just a few words.
Indeed, Gu Anxi soon found her way to Director Hao’s office. He was alone, studying a medical record when she leaned on his desk, smiling and scrutinizing him.
The gaze made Director Hao squirm, causing him to cough softly: "Do I look different today?"
"Your tie is particularly unique." Gu Anxi retained her smile: "Looks like spring has arrived."
Director Hao felt uncomfortable: "Is it?"
Gu Anxi casually spun a pen: "I heard from Nurse Ding that someone hasn’t rested for days, working shifts non-stop. That’s too exhausting."
Immediately, Director Hao’s face flushed a deep red as he lowered his head: "Who is that?"
Gu Anxi smiled and patted his shoulder, "By the way, you should know I’m from Qingcheng, and coincidentally, I have some ties with the Qin family. I’ve called your Miss Qin, Si Lan sister since I was young, and I know her personality and temperament better than anyone else. Are you sure you don’t want to ask for some advice?"
At this point, Director Hao had long forgotten his reserve, and his voice was slightly anxious, "Then tell me, is there a chance?"
"There is, but she will be returning to Qingcheng. Are you planning to follow her to Qingcheng?" Gu Anxi chuckled, "Qingcheng also has Yunxi Hospital; you could be a director there too. But its scale cannot be compared to Beicheng, and if you go there, Director Hao, it’s pretty much like retirement. Are you truly willing to do that?"
Director Hao’s lips moved slightly, asking dryly, "Isn’t it possible for her to stay in Beicheng?"
"With Chu Huan there, she won’t stay," Gu Anxi gave a faint smile, "So think carefully. If you’re not willing to sacrifice, don’t stir up trouble."
With that, she jumped off the table, ready to leave.
Director Hao called her again, "Wait a minute."
He stood up and slowly walked to her, a forty-year-old straightforward bachelor turning red-faced as he asked about pursuing a woman. Gu Anxi looked at him, stared for half a minute, then burst into laughter.
Director Hao was stunned for a while before realizing he was tricked by her, his old face turning red.
Gu Anxi patted his shoulder, "I won’t laugh anymore. Sorry, Director Hao, I just couldn’t help it."
Director Hao’s old face turned even redder, reproaching, "At my age, it’s rare for me to be like this, and you’re still amusing yourself at my expense."
Gu Anxi tried hard to hold back her laughter, "I apologize, I apologize, I will certainly help you with advice."
Director Hao’s eyes instantly brightened, filled with hope for the future. Anything as long as Doctor Xiao Gu is willing to handle just won’t fail.
Gu Anxi cleared her throat, "Old Hao, chasing a woman isn’t like surgery or business; being busy won’t help, it’s about putting your heart into it. Like when you order meals for her for a month, it’s a good way to make someone remember you without feeling it’s too much. Your emotional intelligence is spot on."
Director Hao immediately felt being mocked again.
Luckily, Gu Anxi accompanied him to the ward afterward, allowing him to find an opportunity to meet Qin Siling, which made him forgive her.
Upon opening the ward door, Qin Siling was sitting there making apple puree for Little An. Although Little An was much better, there were many things he still couldn’t eat and needed careful care.
A small child growing up by his father without warmth, he felt especially at ease watching his mother now. When the door opened and he saw Director Hao, he obediently called out Hao Uncle.
Then, he stared straight at Gu Anxi, "This sister is really pretty."
Qin Siling promptly got up, and said to Little An, "You should call her Little Aunt; she grew up in Qingcheng with Mom’s uncle."
Gu Anxi didn’t mind, went over to squat in front of Little An, "It’s okay to call me sister. Is Little An feeling better today?"
Little An looked curiously at her white coat, "Sister, are you a doctor?"
Director Hao went over, patted his small head, saying warmly, "Yes, she’s an amazing doctor."
"Is she even more amazing than Hao Uncle?" Little An asked curiously.
Director Hao smiled faintly, "Yes, she’s more amazing than me."
He dared not look at Qin Siling, only spoke to Little An. Gu Anxi watched from the sidelines, both amused and frustrated.
However, this was good too; with the child sick, being too proactive would seem inappropriate. She then chatted with Little An; if the two adults had nothing to do, it would inevitably lead to talking about something, or else the atmosphere would feel dry.
But, Director Hao being an old-fashioned man could only dare chat about Little An’s condition, comforting the patient’s mother, just like that. Gu Anxi multitasked, playing with Little An while eavesdropping, preparing to report back to her uncle.
After about an hour in the ward, she felt it was enough, checked the time, "It’s meal time."
Director Hao nodded, "It seems so."
Gu Anxi waved her hand, "Then I’ll go have a meal first, Old Hao, why don’t you stay here and have lunch with Little An."
Director Hao was flattered, unsure how to respond.
Qin Siling glanced at Gu Anxi, somewhat surprised, but of course, she wouldn’t reject this favor. So she graciously said, "It’s Sunday, still trouble Director Hao to be on duty, so why not eat together, Little An likes you very much."
Director Hao naturally stayed, feeling especially grateful.
Gu Anxi bounced back, completing her task again.
Just as she was feeling happy, the elevator door opened, and the person inside made her instantly cover her face.
Thunder rolled; how come she ran into them.
Qin Siyuan and Gu Mingzhu, along with a Lu Heng.
Lu Heng’s face was very dark, and the term "pitch-black" didn’t seem out of place to describe it.
Gu Anxi covered her face, cleared her throat, "Sorry, I didn’t see you; you didn’t see me either."
She wanted to muddle through, but Gu Mingzhu spoke gently, "Gu Anxi, we already saw you; doesn’t covering your face make you unrecognizable?"
Gu Anxi gave a fake smile, "Actually, you can also pretend not to recognize me."
Lu Heng squinted his eyes, his voice extremely hoarse, "Gu Anxi, you left me alone in Qingcheng, while you ran off to Beicheng."
Gu Anxi put down her hand decisively, "I returned to Beicheng to get married, is that a problem?"
