"Seraphina Sutton, stop this madness!" Kaden Xavier roared, his gaze locked on Wren Wynter. "I’ll say this one last time. I don’t love you! Put the knife down!"

At that moment, he hated himself intensely for letting Wren Wynter fall into danger time and time again.

Wren Wynter froze when she heard Kaden Xavier say he didn’t love Seraphina Sutton.

"No!" Seraphina Sutton shrieked, on the verge of a breakdown, as she pressed the knife to Wren Wynter’s neck. "You’ll never be with me as long as she’s alive! She has to disappear!"

"I’ll be with you. Just put the knife down."

"I want you to marry me!"

"Fine. I agree!"

At his words, Seraphina Sutton burst out laughing, a sound filled with endless bitterness and sorrow.

"Kaden Xavier, oh, Kaden Xavier... to think you’d be willing to marry me for Wren Wynter. How devoted of you," Seraphina Sutton said, wiping away her tears.

’Since ordinary methods couldn’t make Kaden Xavier marry her, she would become Mrs. Xavier, even if it meant he would hate her for it!’

"I want you to go live and announce that I’m the one you love, that I’m the one who should be Mrs. Xavier, and that Wren Wynter is nothing but a homewrecker who stole you from me!"

"Seraphina Sutton, don’t push it!" Kaden Xavier snarled, his gaze turning dark and icy.

"I’m not stupid. You can go back on a verbal promise. So now I’m giving you three choices: go live and tell everyone we’re in love, give me a child, or Wren Wynter dies."

Kaden Xavier was in agony. His narrow eyes reflected the knife at Wren Wynter’s neck.

He couldn’t take the risk!

Kaden Xavier took a deep breath. "I agree."

"Kaden Xavier, are you crazy?!" Wren Wynter couldn’t believe he would agree to such an absurd demand.

A smirk played on Seraphina Sutton’s lips. Pointing to a glass of water that was already prepared nearby, she raised an eyebrow. "Drink it. Then go to the room and wait for me."

Without another moment of hesitation, Kaden Xavier walked over, picked up the water, and downed it in one go. He turned his head to fix his gaze on Seraphina Sutton. "I want to watch her leave."

"You don’t trust me?"

"I don’t trust you."

Seraphina Sutton pointed to a nearby sofa, her tone mocking. "If that’s how it is, the sofa works too. This way, Wren Wynter can get a good look at you losing control for me. Hahaha."

"Seraphina Sutton, you’re insane!" Wren Wynter struggled, but the cold steel at her throat was a constant reminder of her predicament.

The slightest movement was enough to open a cut across her skin, neither too deep nor too shallow.

Wren Wynter winced, frowning at the stinging pain in her neck.

Seraphina Sutton chuckled, offering a "kind" reminder. "Dr. Wynter, I wouldn’t move if I were you. This blade is very sharp. It would only take a single slice to sever a delicate neck like yours."

"Don’t hurt her..." Kaden Xavier clutched his chest, his face flushing a deeper red.

Seeing his pained expression, Wren Wynter felt a heavy weight settle in her chest, as if it were being crushed by a large stone.

Kaden Xavier’s eyes grew hazy as he tore wildly at his tie. He shrugged off his jacket and undid the top buttons of his shirt, revealing firm, well-defined abs and pectoral muscles. He looked like an intoxicating mix of pure and provocative.

His legs gave out, and he dropped to one knee, bracing himself with a hand on the table. His eyes grew even more bloodshot.

"Let... let her go!"

"Give me a child, and I’ll let her go."

Seeing that Kaden Xavier had lost the strength to resist, Seraphina Sutton released Wren Wynter. She walked slowly to Kaden’s side, hooking a finger into his shirt collar as her other hand caressed his cheek.

’This face I’ve dreamed of day and night... this man... he’ll be mine soon.’

"Kaden, let me help you. All right?"

Kaden Xavier was silent, his head bowed. Veins bulged on his forearms.

Seraphina Sutton smiled triumphantly. She undid the rest of the buttons on his shirt, then knelt before him and leaned in to kiss his face.

"Kaden Xavier! Snap out of it!" Seeing the scene unfold, Wren Wynter could only scream his name.

But the drug was too potent; Kaden Xavier had already lost all reason.

Wren Wynter’s eyes reddened as tears streamed uncontrollably down her cheeks.

In that moment, she forgave Kaden Xavier for all the pain he had caused her in the past.

Whether as his ex-wife or a complete stranger, she couldn’t bear to watch someone be humiliated like this.

"Kaden Xavier! Wake up!" Wren Wynter screamed.

Seraphina Sutton moved faster, cupping Kaden Xavier’s face in her hands and leaning in to kiss him.

Just as their lips were about to touch, clarity suddenly returned to Kaden Xavier’s eyes. He shoved Seraphina Sutton away, surged to his feet, grabbed her hand, twisted it behind her, and pinned her to the floor.

"Who gave you permission to touch me?" Kaden Xavier’s gaze was devoid of any warmth.

The sudden turn of events left both Wren Wynter and Seraphina Sutton stunned.

Wren Wynter let out a sigh of relief.

’Thank goodness he hasn’t completely lost his mind. A man as proud as Kaden Xavier would be disgusted with himself if he woke up and learned he’d been humiliated like that by Seraphina Sutton.’

"Kaden, I’m helping you! Don’t worry, it won’t take long. You’ll feel better in just a moment."

"Get out!"

"Kaden, you promised me! You can’t go back on your word!" Seraphina Sutton’s heart felt like it was about to leap out of her chest.

’As long as I can get pregnant with Kaden Xavier’s child, the title of Mrs. Xavier will be mine!’

Ignoring the warning in Kaden Xavier’s eyes, she moved closer to him, her outstretched hand trembling slightly.

Kaden Xavier stared coldly at Seraphina Sutton. The moment her hand was about to touch him, he snatched her wrist, his grip like iron.

"Kaden, what’s wrong with you? I’m helping you."

"I don’t need it."

Seraphina Sutton was shocked. She never expected that Kaden Xavier would still be lucid, even now.

"How is this possible? How... how are you still conscious? I used a whole packet... You..."

Seraphina Sutton was dumbfounded, but when her eyes fell on the flush of Kaden Xavier’s face, she started to laugh again.

’So what if he’s still lucid? Right now, Kaden Xavier is just a fish on the chopping block. The outcome will be the same.’

With some effort, she pried Kaden Xavier’s fingers off her wrist. A look of delight crossed her face as she slowly drew near him again. Her fingers trailed from his cheek down to his chin, tilting his head up.

Suddenly, the locked door was kicked open. A squad of police officers rushed in, surrounding Seraphina Sutton.

"Police! Don’t move! Hands up!"

The sight of police officers bursting in startled Seraphina Sutton so badly that her legs gave out, and she collapsed onto the floor.

"Officers, arrest her! She’s a murderer!" Wren Wynter shouted.

The police took Seraphina Sutton into custody.

Seraphina Sutton’s eyes were filled with bitter resentment.

’I was so close to succeeding.’

’Was the dose not strong enough?’

"Wren Wynter, don’t you get too pleased with yourself! When I get out, I’ll make you pay for this!"
