Captain Xavier, Your Wife Has Signed the Divorce Papers
Chapter 65: You Can Have Any Kind of Woman
As he spoke, he poured Kaden Xavier a glass of wine, a fawning expression on his face.
"That won’t be necessary."
Kaden Xavier refused, glanced coolly at Mason Shaw, who was sitting off to the side, and strode over to him.
Mason Shaw swirled the wine in his glass. "Mr. Xavier, what brings you here today?"
"I came today to discuss the plot of land in the eastern suburbs with you, Mr. Shaw. I was wondering if you would be willing to part with it?" Kaden Xavier got straight to the point.
Mason Shaw lazily raised an eyebrow. "Mr. Xavier, I’m just a doctor. I don’t handle any of the Shaw Family’s affairs. You should go see my second uncle."
Kaden Xavier casually crossed his legs, his voice showing no trace of anger. "Mr. Shaw, from what I understand, Elder Shaw is gravely ill, and the Shaw Family is embroiled in a vicious internal power struggle."
"And so what?" Mason Shaw chuckled softly, his hands crossed over his lap, exuding an air of languor.
He wasn’t interested in that position.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have defied the old man and insisted on becoming a doctor.
Kaden Xavier narrowed his eyes, a dangerous glint flashing within them. "Don’t you want to reclaim your mother’s belongings, Mr. Shaw?"
As soon as he spoke, you could hear a pin drop in the room.
"You seem to know quite a lot, Mr. Xavier." The casual look on Mason Shaw’s face instantly vanished, replaced by a bottomless, icy chill.
"If I’m not mistaken, Elder Shaw made his plans a long time ago, didn’t he?" Kaden Xavier raised an eyebrow, subtly putting pressure on Mason Shaw.
As the head of the Xavier Family, he had kept the Xavier Group firmly seated as the leading enterprise in the Capital. He wouldn’t have achieved his current standing without a few tricks up his sleeve.
Mason Shaw took a sip of wine and asked, "What do you want, Mr. Xavier?"
Kaden Xavier said, "The plot of land in the eastern suburbs."
"That’s a bold request, Mr. Xavier. You know very well that many people are fighting over that land. Its value is far greater than the market price. You can’t just expect me to hand it over for nothing, can you?"
Mason Shaw was no fool.
The Shaw Family was indeed not on par with the Xavier Family, but they weren’t far behind.
If they really fought to the bitter end, the Xavier Family wouldn’t come out ahead either.
Kaden Xavier was clearly aware of this.
He raised a hand, and Assistant Lynch, who was standing behind him, took a file out of his bag and pushed it in front of Mason Shaw.
"I’ll give the Shaw Family thirty percent of the annual dividends."
Thirty percent of the future profits from this land was no small sum.
Mason Shaw narrowed his eyes and asked curiously, "Why are you so insistent on getting this land, Mr. Xavier?"
Kaden Xavier uncrossed his legs, every movement elegant and dignified. "This land is a promise I made to someone."
He and Asher Lynch had set their sights on this land.
Back then, they were still cadets, both with grand ambitions.
Asher Lynch once mentioned that he wanted to build a flying rescue base on that land to help people in need.
"Asher, you’ll be in charge of training the cadets, and I’ll handle the company’s operations. When we graduate, I’ll buy this land for you!"
"Alright, I won’t hold back then! You’ll be the company’s second-largest shareholder! Hahaha..."
The memory came to an abrupt end.
"It seems this person is very important to you, Mr. Xavier."
"He is," Kaden Xavier admitted.
Although Asher Lynch was gone, he wanted to carry on his friend’s final wish.
"In that case, I’ll help you fulfill that wish." Mason Shaw signed the document without hesitation.
The land wasn’t that important to the Shaw Family anyway. It was better to use this opportunity to have the Xavier Family owe them a favor.
Seeing that the tension between the two had dissipated, the young man breathed a sigh of relief and said with a smile, "Mr. Xavier, you’re truly a man of loyalty and honor, just like our Mason."
"Oh? Is that so?" A faint smile touched Kaden Xavier’s lips.
The young man nudged Mason Shaw’s arm with his elbow and started teasing him. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
"Of course! I just found out today that he’s got his eye on a woman and says he doesn’t plan on using his status to get close to her. Tell me, for people like us, what kind of woman can’t we have? Is it really necessary to go to all this trouble?"
"Yes, you can have any woman you want."
Kaden Xavier wasn’t sure if he was saying that to the young man or to himself.
"See! I knew it! Mr. Xavier must think so too. If you ask me, you shouldn’t care if she’s a married woman or not. Just poach her first and worry about the rest later. Am I right, Mr. Xavier?"
Kaden Xavier didn’t say anything, merely shrugging.
He wasn’t interested in married women, and it was inconvenient for him to get involved in such a topic.
Mason Shaw didn’t speak either, but he seemed to tacitly agree with the young man.
"Mr. Xavier, how about you give our Mason a few pointers? If he succeeds in his pursuit, maybe Mason will even ask for a smaller share of the dividends."
The affair between Kaden Xavier and Seraphina Sutton was an open secret in their circle.
The young man’s tactless joke displeased Kaden Xavier.
Mason Shaw waved his hand. "No need. I don’t need anyone’s help to pursue a woman."
"I have other matters to attend to, so I’ll be taking my leave." Kaden Xavier glanced down at his watch.
"Alright."
「Meanwhile, in Valeria.」
After Wren Wynter hung up the phone with Mason Shaw, she followed Ho-ran Park and the others to the beach outside the hotel.
The beach at night was calm and romantic.
From a distance, she saw Shaun Quinn standing next to Leo Crowe. He had a tall, slender figure, and was wearing black casual pants and a simple white shirt.
Wren Wynter noticed that Shaun Quinn seemed to have a particular fondness for white shirts.
He looked better in them than any model or male celebrity; he just had a certain class.
Sometimes Wren Wynter even found herself thinking, ’Could Shaun Quinn be the long-lost young master of some wealthy and powerful family?’
In the moonlight, Shaun Quinn’s features appeared even softer. His otherworldly, flawless face was demonic in its beauty, with fair skin, vermilion lips, and a single tear-drop mole at the corner of his eye.
He turned his head to look at Wren Wynter, and his deep, profound eyes were captivating with just a single glance.
But when Wren Wynter looked again, he had already averted his gaze as if nothing had happened, staring at the waves with his hands in his pockets.
"What are you spacing out for?" Shaun Quinn asked.
"I was just thinking how beautiful the view is at night," Wren Wynter said, taking a sip of her juice to cover up the fact that she had been distracted.
The two of them stood side by side. Neither spoke again, but a comfortable, unspoken understanding flowed through the air between them.
The waves lapped gently against the shore, making a soft, rhythmic sound.
"Want to go for a walk?" His voice sounded somewhat ethereal in the sea breeze.
