Captain Xavier, Your Wife Has Signed the Divorce Papers
Chapter 69: I Don’t Need What Others Don’t Want
Every piece she designed was one-of-a-kind, completely unique.
Wren had seen Annie’s work before and found it truly beautiful and unique.
Even she, a person who didn’t particularly like wearing jewelry, had felt a connection to her pieces.
The auctioneer had someone bring out the "Fallen Heart." The moment the red cloth was unveiled, everyone in the room held their breath.
So beautiful!
"Fifty-one million!"
Suddenly, a voice rang out from beside Wren.
Wren turned her head and saw Shaun Quinn holding up his paddle.
"Second Senior Brother! That’s fifty-one million!" Wren reminded him.
"This necklace would suit you," Shaun Quinn said calmly, but his tone held an undeniable stubbornness and sincerity.
Wren knew that once he set his mind on something, no one could talk him out of it.
"He’s right, Junior Sister. That necklace would look great on you!"
Leif Shaw agreed with Shaun Quinn.
In fact, it wasn’t just him; the other senior brothers thought so too.
Compared to the earlier Imperial Purple set, the "Fallen Heart" was far better at accentuating a person’s status and noble air.
But Wren just felt that spending fifty million on a flashy, impractical necklace was completely unnecessary.
Seraphina Sutton ground her teeth in jealousy. ’Why does Wren always manage to find such high-quality men!’
’Rich, powerful, and handsome!’
She deliberately leaned close to Kaden Xavier’s ear and said softly, "Kaden, Dr. Wynter is so popular. Even her friends are willing to spend so much money on her. Unlike me... I only have you and Nathaniel."
Kaden Xavier’s eyes narrowed, a dangerous glint flashing within them.
He slowly raised his paddle, his expression unreadable. "Fifty-five million."
As his voice sounded, the faces of Shaun Quinn and the others immediately darkened.
Shaun Quinn stared at Kaden Xavier’s back and raised his paddle again.
"Sixty million."
"Seventy million."
"Eighty million."
"One hundred million!"
One hundred million!
This amount far exceeded the actual value of the "Fallen Heart," and it wasn’t a sum that just anyone could produce.
Wren frowned and forcibly pressed down on Shaun Quinn’s hand as he was about to raise his paddle again.
"Junior Sister!"
Leif Shaw was displeased. They had never failed to get a gift they wanted for their junior sister before.
"Junior Sister, don’t worry. Your senior brothers have money. We guarantee this necklace will end up in your hands!"
"Fourth Senior Brother, don’t add to the chaos. The necklace isn’t worth this price. Let’s just drop it."
"No! I insist on getting it for you!"
Leif Shaw’s childish temper was flaring up again, giving Wren a massive headache.
"Fourth Senior Brother, I don’t even like the necklace that much."
Wren cast a pleading look at Ho-ran Park, hoping he would help her.
’Even if he won’t do it for my sake, he should think about his wife.’
’If his wife finds out that her husband spent so much money just to buy me a flashy, impractical necklace, they’d almost certainly get into a huge fight.’
"Leif, that’s enough."
Perhaps also feeling the necklace wasn’t worth the price, Ho-ran Park shook his head at Leif Shaw.
"Junior Sister has a point. The necklace isn’t worth this much. Even if you won the bid, would you want to make her feel pressured by wearing it all the time?"
Leif Shaw pouted resentfully. "But I can’t stand seeing that Xavier guy buy such a nice thing for his mistress!"
"Fourth Senior Brother, I honestly don’t care. He can spend his money on whoever he wants. When it comes time to claim what’s mine, I won’t ask for a penny less," Wren said, reassuring Leif Shaw.
Hearing this, Leif Shaw finally relented.
In the end, the necklace also went to Kaden Xavier.
The auction was drawing to a close, but Wren had no energy for the remaining items. She planned to leave as soon as it was over.
She didn’t want to run into Kaden Xavier.
Just as Wren and her senior brothers were walking out the main doors of the auction house, someone grabbed her wrist from behind.
"Wren," Kaden Xavier’s voice was low.
Wren tried to pull her hand back, but his grip was too tight.
Her expression turned cold. "Let go."
"We need to talk." Kaden Xavier refused to let go. "Come home with me."
"Home?" Wren laughed, her smile dripping with sarcasm. "Kaden Xavier, what home do we have left?"
Seeing Wren’s attitude hadn’t changed, Kaden Xavier felt a sudden wave of irritation. "Wren, stop this. Haven’t you had time to reflect during the days you’ve been gone?"
"Reflect? What do I have to reflect on?"
Wren found it laughable. The one who cheated was telling the one who didn’t to reflect.
’Reflect on what?’
’Reflect on why my other half cheated?’
Just then, Shaun Quinn stepped forward and grabbed Kaden Xavier’s wrist.
His grip was powerful. Kaden Xavier winced in pain and subconsciously released Wren.
"This is Valeria, not a place where you can do whatever you please."
Shaun Quinn’s voice was ice-cold. "Wren has made it clear she doesn’t want to go with you. Please respect her wishes."
Kaden Xavier narrowed his eyes, facing off against Shaun Quinn.
The two men, of similar height, stood under the Veridian sun, their powerful auras on full display.
Seeing this, Seraphina Sutton quickly stepped forward, took Kaden Xavier’s arm, and tried to placate him. "Kaden, let it go. Dr. Wynter is probably still angry. We can come back another day—"
"Shut up," Kaden Xavier cut her off coldly, his gaze still fixed on Wren. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
He took the velvet box from his inner suit pocket and opened it. Inside was the necklace.
The blue diamond refracted the sunlight, casting a brilliant, breathtakingly beautiful gleam.
"This necklace... is for you." Kaden Xavier composed himself and held the box out to Wren.
Wren froze.
It wasn’t just her; everyone present was stunned.
Seraphina Sutton’s face turned deathly pale. Her lips trembled, but no sound came out.
She had thought Kaden Xavier bought it for her, never imagining it was all a special purchase to coax Wren into coming home.
Jealousy made it impossible for her to maintain her smile, and she secretly clenched her fists.
’It’s fine,’ she thought. ’There’s still the Imperial Purple necklace. That set must be for me.’
The next second, Kaden Xavier took out the Imperial Purple jewelry set he had bought earlier.
"And these. They’re also for you, as compensation."
This time, Seraphina Sutton could no longer maintain her polite facade. Her face darkened, and she bit her lower lip hard.
"You..." Wren looked at the necklace, then back at Kaden Xavier, feeling bewildered.
Seraphina Sutton forced a smile. "Dr. Wynter, Kaden really does care about you. I also thought both sets were beautiful, but it’s a shame I’m pregnant. Wearing something so extravagant is a bit much for me."
’To Wren’s ears, this clearly meant, ’He offered them to me first, and I rejected them, so now it’s your turn.’’
She let out a cold laugh, took the boxes, and without a second glance, shoved them back into Kaden Xavier’s hands.
"Mr. Xavier, you should save these for Miss Sutton. I have no need for other people’s rejects."
