City's Best Divine Doctor
Chapter 1852 - 1812: The Nanny Is Dead
Ye Qiu was comfortably lying between Xiaomai’s legs. Xiaomai seemed to think it was only natural, and Xia Jing could only watch, feeling that Ye Qiu’s relationship with this young maid was not so simple.
However, on second thought, it seemed normal. Xiaomai was young and beautiful, unlike herself, a widowed woman who was said to bring misfortune to husbands. No matter how alluring, no man would dare touch her.
Around eight in the evening, Ye Qiu went upstairs to continue surfing the internet, planning to head out to the suburban hills around midnight.
Unexpectedly, at ten at night, there was a rapid knock on Ye Qiu’s door.
"What’s going on?"
"Just now, Xiaomei went to my villa and found the maid dead there."
Xiaomei didn’t know that Xia Jing was staying with Ye Qiu and assumed she was at the villa. She went there to call for Xia Jing without getting a response and was shocked to find the maid unresponsive as well.
Inside, she saw blood everywhere on the floor and the maid already dead.
Xiaomai was so frightened that she turned pale and trembled all over, then crawled outside the villa to call her.
"The maid is dead? At your home?"
Yesterday, when Ye Qiu picked up Xia Jing, he didn’t get out of the car and didn’t know what the maid looked like.
"I’ll go with you to have a look."
Ye Qiu put on his clothes and came downstairs with Xia Jing, who was still in her nightgown, only covering herself with a coat because it was still cold outside.
Xiaomai was downstairs, usually waiting for Ye Weidong and Ye Xue to come back before she rested.
"Ye Qiu, where are you going?"
"There’s been an incident at her house. We’re going to have a look."
Ye Qiu and Xia Jing got into the car and headed to Xia Jing’s villa complex, which was only about a ten-minute drive away. As they drove in, they saw the community’s security guards and Xiaomei there.
"Did you call the police?"
"Yes," Xiaomei said.
Seeing Xia Jing, Xiaomei hurriedly hugged her.
Ye Qiu went inside and saw a maid in pajamas, about forty years old, with a plump face, looking kind and gentle.
But, as they say, good people don’t live long. It might refer to people like her.
Ye Qiu squatted down to take a look, finding a knife wound on her neck. The carotid artery was severed, and she died from excessive bleeding.
Now, the villa was filled with her blood, with a distinct smell of blood in the air.
As Ye Qiu was leaving, the local police officers had arrived.
When they came in and saw Ye Qiu there, they didn’t know who he was.
"Who are you?" one of the police officers asked.
"He’s my friend. We just got here," Xia Jing quickly said.
Ye Qiu then called Zhao Ruxue.
"Ruxue, something just happened."
Zhao Ruxue was working overtime at the City Police Bureau. The series of homicide cases involving stolen hearts had left her without rest these days.
She didn’t expect Ye Qiu’s call, wondering if someone had died.
"Did someone die?"
"Yes."
"Where?"
Ye Qiu reported the name of the community.
As Zhao Ruxue immediately drove over with her subordinates, the local officers were about to take Xia Jing’s friend Xiaomei and Ye Qiu back for investigation.
Ye Qiu said, "No need. The City Police Bureau’s criminal investigation team will be here soon."
"Are you with us?" The local officers thought this young guy was also a cop.
"You’ll find out soon. You can’t handle this case."
About thirty minutes later, the sound of sirens could be heard outside. Soon, two police cars pulled up, and out came Zhao Ruxue and her team.
The City Police Bureau’s criminal investigation team, tasked with handling these serious cases, was certainly of a higher standing than ordinary local officers.
After Zhao Ruxue showed her credentials, the local police understood, watching as Zhao Ruxue led her team over to where Ye Qiu was standing with two beautiful young women.
Zhao Ruxue vaguely remembered the beautiful woman but couldn’t recall her name at the moment.
"Ye Qiu, come, tell me what happened."
As Ye Qiu went over to Zhao Ruxue, she asked, "What’s going on?"
"You know about Xia Jing, right? She’s a famous widow, a ’pure Yin’ woman born in Yin Year, Yin Month, Yin Day, and Yin Hour. I suspected she might have been the next target of the killer behind these cases, but now, her maid is the one who’s met with misfortune."
"Was the maid’s heart stolen?"
"No, it was her throat. The carotid artery was slashed, and she died from blood loss. You’d better go in and see, but it might make you feel queasy."
Zhao Ruxue hurried inside.
When Zhao Ruxue came out, her expression hadn’t changed much. She had seen scarier things.
The villa had a large pool of fresh blood inside, and the smell was overwhelming.
"Why would someone want to kill her?"
"Maybe it’s related to Xia Jing. I don’t really know."
Why kill her?
Ye Qiu genuinely couldn’t understand why these people had no regard for human life.
As Zhao Ruxue had the forensic team investigate, Xia Jing, after just one glance, was also trembling in fear. The maid had worked for her for many years, and there was an emotional bond. Now, she felt responsible for the maid’s death.
"Captain Zhao, I suspect a burglar came in and was discovered by the maid, so they killed her brutally," one officer suggested.
"A burglar? That’s impossible. The community’s security is the best. There can’t be any thieves," the villa’s security guard quickly interjected.
"She was obviously killed. Don’t tell me it was suicide?" The officer certainly didn’t believe it.
"Take all the surveillance footage and related personnel back for investigation. Whoever found her first should be investigated," Zhao Ruxue instructed.
The one who discovered the maid was Xiaomei, so she would definitely be taken for questioning.
Xia Jing, the homeowner and the maid’s employer, would also have to go for questioning.
In the car, Xia Jing and Xiaomei both looked in bad shape. Now that Ye Qiu was driving them to the City Police Bureau, they clung to each other for comfort.
Ye Qiu said, "Since the maid was murdered so viciously, the villa is now considered haunted. You probably won’t want to live there, and others wouldn’t dare either."
Ye Qiu didn’t personally know the maid, so he only felt that her death was somewhat related to Xia Jing. Beyond that, he had no other feelings.
Xia Jing was still grieving over the maid’s death and was too scared to focus on matters like the property.
