Cultivating in the Wizard World
Chapter 410 - 357: Loopholes and Death
The truth has been revealed.
Now, Jeming stood inside the vast, real yet "awkward" model, facing its core directly.
Truth rushed over like a torrent, but another critical question quickly emerged in Jeming’s mind, a paradox concerning his own existence here.
"I have one more question." Jeming looked at the four mask-like frozen faces, "Why did you choose me? Or rather, why is my ’background setting’ so special?"
He thought of Reks: "Like Reks, he could be an orphan, with simple social relations, making it easier to hide and control. Why specifically construct a complete family for me, including childhood friends like Amy and Victor?"
The four mouths opened simultaneously, giving an answer that surprised Jeming:
"Because you are the singularity, number 721. My core system cannot read and construct a life path that fulfills your true inner desires. Creating intimate social relationships for you is a compensatory measure based on the system’s foundational logic of ’maintaining the stability of individual social existence,’ but lacks the drive of your true desires, thus resulting in insufficient construction precision."
"Unable to read my desires?" Jeming was slightly taken aback.
"Yes. Tell me, number 721, stripping away all appearances and excuses, what is your deepest, most essential desire at your core?" The four voices overlapped, carrying a deeply hidden urgency.
Jeming fell into contemplation.
He recalled his experiences after crossing over, years of cultivating the ineffective Qi Cultivation method, devouring knowledge in the Wizard World, striving with all his might to fuse two systems to create the Talisman Witchcraft, Black Giant... Behind all this, what was the fundamental driving force?
After a moment, he raised his head, eyes clear and resolute, answering frankly:
"Power."
"To continuously grow stronger, surpass limits, and ultimately... transcend all extraordinary power."
As soon as he finished speaking, Jeming instantly realized!
The underlying logic of "justice" is "to suppress everyone’s extraordinary power" to achieve absolute fairness.
However, Jeming’s core desire is "to acquire and continually enhance extraordinary power."
At the most fundamental level of rules, these two formed an irreconcilable absolute opposition!
One aims to suppress; the other to pursue, creating a perfect logical deadlock!
Therefore, the "wish realization system," which "justice" relies on to maintain the entire world, totally failed for Jeming.
It couldn’t "arrange" a life for him that both suppresses power yet fulfills his desire for power, making him an incomprehensible "bug" for the system, an "outlier" unable to be assimilated by "happiness"!
For the first time, the eternal indifference on the four faces showed a fluctuation that could be described as "emotion" — a logical conflict-induced, extreme confusion and disbelief.
"Why?" The fourfold voice carried bewilderment, "The pursuit of power is a common behavioral pattern. But analysis shows that the essence of individual pursuit of power is to achieve other goals: gaining status, completing specific tasks, satisfying a sense of security, winning respect... Power is merely a ’tool’ to accomplish these deeper desires."
Jeming shook his head, his tone calm yet bearing an undeniable firmness:
"The pursuit of power, especially the kind that continuously surpasses oneself and breaks boundaries, extraordinary power, is the purpose itself. Is another reason needed?"
Seeing those four faces simultaneously revealing a look of "astonishment," Jeming could well understand them, because this is not a simple difference of will, but a fundamental difference at the level of worldview.
Every civilization, due to its history, environment, and culture, nurtures a completely different ultimate pursuit.
The Cultivation Immortality Civilization’s initial pursuit was "longevity," so their power system starts seeking bodily immortality from the Golden Core Stage, and they theoretically achieve eternal life in the Nascent Soul Stage.
The Wizard Civilization’s initial pursuit was "knowledge," so their Second Level Wizards begin studying laws, Third Level Wizards can perceive spatial fluctuations, all power serves better exploration of the unknown.
And Jeming’s soul’s base color originated from his previous world—a pure Technology World devoid of any extraordinary power.
Precisely what is lacking is sought after.
In that world where individual great power couldn’t be obtained, the yearning for "strength" itself was inscribed in the cultural genes in a purer, more extreme manner.
Unable to become physically sacred, they pursued spiritual "enlightenment" with the decisiveness of "hearing the Dao in the morning, one can die in the evening."
Unable to split mountains with bare hands, they revered mechanical power.
For the "small" muscle growth, some were willing to pay with their health, and even many men were willing to give up their testicles...
It was a deep biological instinct, the most primal desire for "self-transcendence and becoming stronger."
Jeming could actually understand the current chaos of "justice."
After all, during childhood, seeing Wizard Civilization’s children completely indifferent to a straight tree branch, he was similarly amazed at that time (foreshadowing in Chapter 85).
"Some people enjoy socializing, some enjoy tasting fine foods, some enjoy sports, while I just happen to enjoy getting stronger." Ultimately, Jeming merely used the simplest words to cover up this complex worldview difference.
"Justice" fell silent, those four faces froze, as if the massive system were computing at full capacity, yet could never find a logical connection between "suppressing power" and "realizing the desire to pursue power."
After a long while, the cold voice sounded again: "Understanding failed. Your core parameters and system’s foundational directives have a fundamental conflict. You are a... loophole."
Jeming suddenly recalled the intelligence he had seen before about the three Wizards who mysteriously "perished" early in the war.
"By the way, what’s the situation with those three Wizards who perished before? According to your logic, you don’t seem like an entity that would actively eliminate." 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
"Justice" answered: "They also discovered other loopholes and attempted to exploit them, reverse-engineer and damage the system’s core rules. Their actions were judged as a supreme threat to the ’Absolute Fairness Domain.’ According to core instructions, they were erased."
"I see..."
Jeming raised his head, his gaze calmly looking towards the face belonging to "Amy," yet now infinitely unfamiliar, asking the final question:
"So, for such a loophole existence unable to be accommodated within your ’justice,’ how will you handle me?"
"Justice" did not answer.
The next moment.
No warning, no process.
Jeming felt his "existence"—his thoughts, his senses, everything—being directly erased from the foundational layer of this world in a manner that is incomprehensible, indescribable, and irresistible.
He didn’t even have time to feel fear or regret, as his consciousness plunged into absolute eternal darkness.
He died.
