Daddy Always Gets Jealous
Chapter 157: Feeling of Being with Mr. Huo (3)_1
Gu Jizhou can’t touch Qiao Qiao?
Che Huan furrowed her brows as she looked toward Huo Jinnan, finding the idea quite mystifying! Over the years, she had come to understand clearly that in Hong Kong, Gu Jizhou could do as he pleased without anyone daring to object, so how was it possible he couldn’t harm Qiao Qiao?
Mr. Huo means...
She paused and then hesitantly said, "What... What are your conditions?"
Huo Jinnan’s eyes darkened, his voice dropping even lower, "If I don’t intervene, Gu Jizhou won’t be able to touch her either."
"..." Che Huan stared at Huo Jinnan, failing to grasp the implications of his words. She had always thought Qiao Qiao was just an ordinary person, just like herself. Could there be some hidden background behind her? 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
And then remembering how Qiao Qiao could easily arrange for her to enter the First Hospital, it seemed she really was no simple character!
Huo Jinnan flicked the ash off his cigarette.
"Why do you insist on me divorcing?"
Che Huan glanced at him, and since he said so, it must be true. For some reason, his words always carried an inexplicable convincing power.
Huo Jinnan’s gaze swept over Che Huan, and his thin lips formed a straight line.
Seeing that he hadn’t spoken, Che Huan’s face flushed. She shouldn’t have asked that question. Biting her lip, she said in a low voice, "Thank you for the reminder, Mr. Huo."
After a pause, she looked at Huo Jinnan again, "I wonder what grudge Mr. Huo holds against Gu Jizhou?"
Understanding the hidden meaning of her words, Huo Jinnan’s eyes grew even darker, "Do you want to get involved?"
Che Huan quickly shook her head, "That’s not what I meant."
"I’ll take you back," Huo Jinnan stood up and picked up the car keys from the bed.
Thinking of Gu Jizhou waiting outside and fearing being trapped in the car like last time, Che Huan quickly stood up, "No need, Mr. Huo, I can take a taxi by myself."
Huo Jinnan put down the car keys and sat back, making a phone call.
Huo Bei arrived quickly.
Huo Jinnan turned to Huo Bei, "Take her away."
Huo Bei acknowledged and led Che Huan through the hidden door.
Exiting the hidden door, there was no path, just dense woods on either side.
A Grand Cherokee was parked on the mountain road.
Huo Bei opened the door and looked at Che Huan, "Miss Che, please."
Che Huan got into the car and said, "Thank you."
While driving, Huo Bei spoke, "The road is a bit rough and bumpy, Miss Che, if you’re scared, just close your eyes."
Che Huan glanced around, seeing no real road, as they were simply weaving through the forest.
She closed her eyes, a wave of tension washing over her, her hands gripping the seat belt she had yet to fasten as the vehicle began to jostle about.
Huo Bei glanced at her in the rearview mirror, "Miss Che, does this feel like being with Mr. Huo?"
At the sound of Huo Bei’s voice, Che Huan opened her eyes and looked toward the driver.
Huo Bei didn’t wait for her response, speaking calmly, "In Miss Che’s eyes, Mr. Huo might seem high and mighty, but in the Huo Family, the person Grandfather cherishes the most is Young Master Gu."
Che Huan bit her lip secretly, "You’re overthinking it."
Huo Bei gave a faint smile, "Thank you for your understanding, Miss Che."
Che Huan’s hands clenched the fabric of her skirt tightly; with Huo Bei’s words put forth like that, how could she not understand?
The Huo Family must be no ordinary family; otherwise, how could all the recent incidents involving Gu Jizhou be quietly resolved!
Somehow, she suddenly remembered the person she encountered at the amusement park, the one who had been staring at her.
She had overheard that girl on the phone with him, calling him "Huo Jinbei."
Huo Jinbei, Huo Jinnan—it sounded like they were from the same family!
Che Huan turned toward Huo Bei and tentatively asked, "Is Huo Jinbei from the same Huo Family as Mr. Huo?"
Huo Bei was slightly surprised, "Miss Che, you know the Third Young Master?"
The Third Young Master?
Che Huan looked in Huo Bei’s direction, so shocked that she was momentarily at a loss for words.
