Chapter 1188 - 334: The Struggle Over Two Paths
Feng Haiyang had just absorbed the Yang couple, his mana was still quite abundant. Within the Forbidden Locking Heaven and Earth Divine Abilities, he enveloped Elder Shen with Tribulation Water and flew away quickly, with no one able to catch up.
Although Elder Shen used a Golden Talisman to protect his body, he could feel that under the encirclement and pressure of the Tribulation Water, his mana was rapidly diminishing. Without someone coming to aid him, he feared that he might be exhausted first.
He did have a way out; Zhou Huang’s "Han Yun One Qi Sky" couldn’t trap him before. As long as he activated the prohibition within the "Golden Luo Earth Axis Talisman," he could break out, but doing so would leave him without battle strength for more than an hour. If no one came to his aid then, it would still be a dead-end.
Stroking his beard and contemplating for a while, he then grabbed the "Earth Luo Gold Axis Talisman," and with a low shout, he activated his mana.
Feng Haiyang suddenly felt a shocking tremor inside the Tribulation Water; an immense force surged uncontrollably. Before he could react, there was a loud boom, and the Tribulation Water spread out in all directions. A golden beam shot skyward, even tearing a mark in the thick curtain of clouds gathered in the sky, knocking away many Devils along the way.
He was slightly taken aback and quickly gathered the Tribulation Water, then transformed Devils out again.
Upon hearing the commotion, Zhang Yan turned to look and instantly recognized it was Elder Shen’s doing. After a brief thought, he formed a spell, intending to use the Moving and Escaping Technique.
But just then, a hundred feet away, a ghastly white light suddenly emerged from the void, striking directly at the back of his neck.
Before this object flew over, Zhang Yan’s consciousness had already been alerted by the sword ball, so he was not at all panicked. Instantly, he transformed into a stream of light to evade, simultaneously a point of cyan light rapidly darted out, and in the blink of an eye, the incoming white light was fixed in midair.
Zhang Yan paused above the clouds, looked down, and finally saw that this object was a half-moon ghost head axe, with blood-stained blade edges and protruding fangs, emitting terrifying screeches filled with malevolence.
This axe, called "Dawn Yin Axe," was not only exceedingly bloodthirsty but also contained the remnant soul of a Demon Sect elder. It could absorb all the essence blood of a person it struck, increasing its power, extremely hard to control, and might even injure its master. Thus, Feng Haiyang had never used it before, but now, having entered the Nascent Soul Third Realm, he confidently believed he could suppress it, so he released it.
The demon axe struggled several times, but unable to break free from its shackles, it suddenly trembled fiercely, then transformed into white Qi and flew off, subsequently disappearing.
With a slight narrowing of his eyes, Zhang Yan noted that the "Longevity Locking Yang Cicada" attached to his Dharma treasure rarely failed, yet this item managed to escape, indicating it was no ordinary treasure. Nonetheless, with the Star Sword Ball in his possession, he could be forewarned of any such occurrences and remained unafraid; he simply waved his sleeve, invoked the Little All Heaven Moving Technique, and after several swift relocations, reached the site of the duel between Shen and Feng. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
The demonic Qi had dispersed here, and his gaze quickly locked onto Feng Haiyang’s silhouette. Without ceremony, he charged down through the clouds, and from barely a mile away, formed a spell as sword light sliced through the air, splitting into twenty-four paths like freezing stars in the sky, shooting downwards.
Seeing this, Feng Haiyang hastily summoned a Devil to its defense while swiftly employing an escape skill to retreat backwards. After withdrawing a hundred feet, he once more hid within the dark smoke clouds. Glancing around, he saw several tunneling lights rapidly approaching besides Zhang Yan, and realized that if he fought here for even a short while, he might again risk being surrounded.
He secretly mused, "Yang Bi and Zhu Xin are dead, Shen Yinfe is of no concern, and none of the others are easy to deal with. Further combat would only drain my mana without benefit; it seems my best strategy is to employ hit-and-run tactics to delay the situation."
With a decision made, he wasted no time, rising on a plume of yellow smoke to vanish without a trace.
Not long after, including Zhang Yan, everyone felt their bodies lighten as they realized the trapping technique had been lifted. Spirits lifted, they invoked their escape skills and flew up, after circling a few times, regrouped atop a Flying Peak. Looking down, they saw the demonic clouds and mist were gradually dispersing, but Feng Haiyang was no longer to be found.
Xun Huaiying glanced around several times, then suddenly rode a sword light away, returning shortly afterward to shake his head and say, "Within a radius of five miles, this person is nowhere to be seen."
Zhang Yan thought for a moment, then said, "Feng Haiyang definitely won’t retreat so simply; he must be hiding nearby, waiting for an opportunity."
