Demi-human Girls Completion Manual
Chapter 1289: Visitor 2
That was the commander of the Human Alliance, Barbatos.
Ingrid looked at the extremely tall man in front of her and swallowed nervously, but he said nothing. Instead, he simply ordered her,
"Come over, go inside that carriage."
Ingrid cautiously glanced behind Barbatos and indeed saw a golden carriage parked behind the army.
She felt a chill run through her, and resisting was out of the question, so she had no choice but to comply obediently.
"Okay... okay."
Ingrid, Ingrid, you are such an idiot!
Isn’t it all over now?!
If I had known earlier, I wouldn’t have gone to that factory, thinking it was just a place that produced some medicine or something. Who would have thought...
Ingrid’s legs were weak, but she still reached out with trembling hands, grabbed the handle of the carriage door, and slowly pulled it open.
At the moment she opened the door, she seemed to see a scorching heat wave rushing towards her, as if a pillar of lava was bursting in front of her.
But in the next second, that pillar of fire abruptly disappeared, as if it was all an illusion.
Ingrid thought she must be too nervous, which was causing her to hallucinate.
"Um, hello?"
She cautiously poked her head inside and saw a petite girl sitting inside, wearing a Nali man’s black tailcoat, with her legs crossed, looking at Ingrid.
The girl was young, with a head of long black hair tied into a short ponytail, a handsome face adorned with glasses. Unlike Ingrid’s sunglasses, the girl’s glasses seemed to be shining with some strange light; it was unclear what their function was.
"Sit."
Though she was young, Ingrid could always feel immense pressure emanating from this girl.
Ingrid looked back at General Barbatos who was on horseback outside, then stepped into the carriage and closed the door.
"Um... is there something you need me for?"
"Let me introduce myself. I am the chief commander of the Nali Human Alliance’s general staff, Agares."
"Hello, young lady. I am the inner court official of the Saint Nali Golden Palace, Dianne... please sit."
Besides the spectacled lady in front of her, another friendly female voice echoed inside the carriage.
Ingrid was startled, quickly glanced around, and only after a while did she find a smiling black-haired beauty looking at her from a mirror on the carriage table.
When she mentioned her title, Ingrid felt as if her soul was about to fly out in terror.
Even though she was just an intern from Schwali Key University, having a general, a chief commander, and an inner court official of the Golden Palace all in one place was too overwhelming...
Ingrid, with a mournful look, didn’t dare to sit, standing on the edge of the carriage like a little chick and cautiously said,
"No... no, I don’t dare... my name is Ingrid... may I ask if you need something from me?"
The girl named "Agares" said nothing, but Dianne in the mirror spoke with a smile,
"No need to be nervous. We know it was you who broke into the factory earlier. Though Queen Elizabeth is quite angry about it, we also know that you couldn’t have broken in alone, right?"
"Ah... ah?"
Agares opened her eyes and looked at Ingrid, asking,
"The person who took you into the factory, where is he, did he tell you his whereabouts?"
"He... he didn’t..."
"You’re lying, young lady."
Dianne in the mirror spoke with a gentle smile, but it sent a chill down Ingrid’s spine.
"Ack!"
Just then, a large black bird, perhaps a crow or an eagle, suddenly landed on the windowsill of the carriage, looking coldly at Ingrid. The bird seemed to be chewing on some animal part, but Ingrid felt it was a human finger.
Ingrid was nearly scared to the point of losing control, hurriedly saying through tears,
"Dragon Court, the southern Dragon Court... he went to the southern Red Dragon’s Court. But that’s all I know, I just met him yesterday, I..."
"No need to be nervous, it’s fine as long as you tell us. However, you do know that simply saying these things isn’t enough to make up for your crime. Luckily, I’ve prepared another path for your compensation."
Seeing the smile of the beauty named "Dianne" in the mirror, Ingrid swallowed nervously and asked,
"Wha... what?"
"You seem to be a journalist from the Schwali Giant Snake Newspaper?"
Ingrid shook her head, crying as she replied,
"In... intern."
"That’s enough... it’s like this, Miss Ingrid, I, on behalf of the Nali Human Alliance, would like to hire you to go to the frontline, report on the atrocities of the Pseudo Dragon Court in the south. What do you think?"
"Th- this is too dangerous, I... I’m just an ordinary person. I can’t even run, being a war correspondent doesn’t suit me..."
Ingrid shook her head in refusal, but clearly, her refusal was not accepted,
"Who said it was a dangerous battlefield?"
Dianne shook her head and said with a smile,
"Firstly, we’ll ensure you have protection; secondly, entering the Pseudo Dragon Court will actually be safe, won’t it? At that time, you can say you are married to the man you met yesterday for four years, and the Pseudo Dragon Court will let you in."
Ingrid thought to herself, you sure know what safety is. The frontline is unsafe, but going directly to the enemy’s home is safe, right?
