Desolate Devouring Art
Chapter 1673 - Heading to the Divine Race
Various forces throughout the four astral domains began strengthening themselves by every means possible. They even opened their vaults and took out all of their treasures to nurture experts within their sects, hoping to survive the coming upheaval of heaven and earth.
Everyone could sense the thick tension in the air. No immortals had returned in previous cycles. However, this time, they predicted that the immortals would return from Skyfall Realm, and also the immortals from the celestial realm would descend. If they got careless, destruction awaited them. The appearance of immortals would drastically reshape the structure of the four astral domains.
Liu Wuxie left the Heavenly Dao Society and headed for the Divine Race. He traveled through the astral domain, and two days later, the Divine Star appeared before him.
He had promised the Divine Race that he would come within six months, and only three months had passed.
The Divine Race had long since sensed the Ancestral Tree's aura within Liu Wuxie. Thus, they grew alarmed even before he arrived. They gathered across the planet and looked up at the sky, watching a streak of light pierce the heavens and descend upon the Divine Race's headquarters.
The entire Divine Race still preserved its ancient traditions, and many of its structures remained in a primitive state.
The Divine Race's main hall towered like a nine-layered pagoda, standing at the center of the Divine Star.
An enormous platform stretched before the main hall, where many altars rose in place. Powerful divinekin lined both sides of the altar, including experts ranging from the Earth Immortal Realm to the Quasi-Immortal Realm.
In terms of overall strength, not a single force throughout the four astral domains could rival them. Over the years, the Divine Race had planned to invade the Human Race and become the rulers of the astral domains, but Liu Wuxie's sudden rise had shattered all their plans.
The moment Liu Wuxie landed, his gaze shot toward the left side of the platform, where he saw a massive piece of wood standing before him.
Liu Wuxie narrowed his eyes. "It's the Ancestral Tree's trunk!"
This was the largest piece of the Ancestral Tree he had ever seen. The fragments he had obtained in the past had all been branches, but this was an offshoot trunk, second only to the main trunk itself. As for where the main trunk had fallen, even Liu Wuxie did not know.
Over the years, the Divine Race had relied on this trunk to sense his presence.
The Ancestral Tree within him began stirring the moment this trunk appeared before him, eager to merge with this segment.
If Liu Wuxie could absorb this trunk segment, he believed he could reach the Quasi-Immortal Realm. However, he did not dare to act rashly in the Divine Race territory.
Suppressing the Ancestral Tree's agitation, Liu Wuxie swept his gaze across the area. Countless stares shot toward him like sharp swords, yet he remained unmoved beneath their scrutiny.
With his current cultivation, he would not fear even an immortal standing before him, much less a quasi-immortal.
The divinekin standing on the platform immediately parted and opened a path for him, allowing him to stride toward the main hall.
The Divine Son stood at the entrance of the main hall. Liu Wuxie smiled and gave him a slight nod. Although the two had not interacted much, their relationship carried a strangely subtle air.
"The Divine Lord has been waiting for you," the Divine Son said, gesturing politely and inviting Liu Wuxie inside.
Liu Wuxie strode through the threshold and entered the depths of the main hall.
Without extraordinary courage, anyone who stepped onto the Divine Star would face only death. Liu Wuxie dared to come because his strength gave him absolute confidence.
Over the years, fewer than five people had ever entered the Divine Race's territory and left unharmed.
The quasi-immortal divinekin followed Liu Wuxie closely into the main hall. Once everyone entered, the gate slowly closed, cutting the main hall off from the outside world.
This was no different from willingly walking into a trap. If the divinekin decided to kill him here, Liu Wuxie would find it difficult to escape.
After entering the main hall, Liu Wuxie looked toward the highest seat and saw a massive divinekin. This was the Divine Lord mentioned by the Divine Son, the supreme ruler of the Divine Race.
Unlike other races, the entire Divine Star housed only the Divine Race, and all of them lived under the Divine Lord's rule.
Liu Wuxie greeted, "Greetings, the Divine Lord." He had come in a spirit of courtesy, intending to resolve the feud between him and the divinekin.
Although the Divine Fruits could strengthen his divine force, Liu Wuxie had not become so bloodthirsty that he would take the initiative to kill others merely to raise his cultivation.
The Divine Lord and Liu Wuxie stared at each other for three full breaths, and a hint of admiration appeared on the Divine Lord's face. He finally asked, "You have quite the courage to come here alone. Aren't you afraid that you won't leave this place alive?" He finally understood why the Divine Son had changed so much after meeting Liu Wuxie.
However, neither Liu Wuxie nor the Divine Race could ever truly resolve their feud.
"Divine Lord, if you truly wanted to kill me, you wouldn't have granted me an audience. You could've struck the moment I landed on the Divine Star," Liu Wuxie replied calmly, standing at the center of the main hall.
What kind of danger had he not encountered over the years? Since he dared to come alone, he naturally did not fear the Divine Race.
"I suddenly wish to kill you now," the Divine Lord said, changing his mind without warning.
Before meeting Liu Wuxie, he had only felt curious. But after seeing Liu Wuxie in person, a powerful urge to kill him surged within him.
The atmosphere in the main hall instantly tensed. Every member of the Divine Race present glared at Liu Wuxie, and murderous intent erupted from each of them.
"You are welcome to try then," Liu Wuxie replied, releasing an overwhelming aura that forced the surrounding divinekin to retreat, unable to withstand the pressure he gave off.
"The ninth level of the Heaven Gaze Realm!" They tensed up the moment they sensed Liu Wuxie's aura.
In just a few short months, Liu Wuxie had risen from the first-level to the ninth-level Heaven Gaze Realm. His breakthrough speed was nothing short of horrifying.
"You're bold indeed. Speak, what is the purpose of your visit?" The Divine Lord asked. He did not act immediately; instead, he chose to hear about Liu Wuxie's intentions first.
Since no one offered him a seat, Liu Wuxie could only remain standing at the center of the main hall.
"I came to resolve the feud between us," Liu Wuxie said, getting straight to the point.
"What a joke! You killed so many of our clansmen, and you want to resolve our feud?" A quasi-immortal sneered, his tone laced with murderous intent.
Over the years, at least hundreds, if not thousands, of divinekin had died at Liu Wuxie's hands. Yet Liu Wuxie wanted to resolve their feud with a single sentence? That was absolutely absurd.
"Divine Lord, I have come with sincerity. Is this how your Divine Race treats a guest?" Liu Wuxie asked as his aura intensified further.
With his current strength, he could wipe out the Divine Race before the immortals returned. π§π³π¦β―ππ¦π·π―ππ£π¦π.πΈπ°π
The divinekin present also heard the threat in Liu Wuxie's words. They knew that once negotiations collapsed, a life-and-death battle would erupt.
As for the Grand Unity Sect or the Immortal Slaughter Palace, Liu Wuxie had never once considered reconciling with them, since they were simply unworthy. The Divine Race, however, was different. Their feud stemmed from the Ancestral Tree, which meant there was no irreconcilable hatred between them.
"Bring him a seat," the Divine Lord said after taking a deep breath.
Someone immediately brought Liu Wuxie a chair, while the other divinekin remained standing at the sides. Only Liu Wuxie and the Divine Lord sat inside the main hall. This symbolized equality between them, as Liu Wuxie's current status no longer stood beneath the Divine Lord's.
"Speak, how do you plan to resolve our feud?" The Divine Lord asked after granting Liu Wuxie a seat.
Since Liu Wuxie had come, the Divine Lord wanted to hear his proposal first. If their views failed to align, then the reconciliation would naturally collapse.
"Our conflict began with the Ancestral Tree, and I wish to know the Ancestral Tree's origin. I want to know why the Divine Race is so desperate to destroy the Ancestral Tree," Liu Wuxie asked after taking a deep breath. This question had troubled him for a long time, and only the Divine Race could give him answers.
Asking him to abandon the Ancestral Tree was impossible, especially now that the Ancestral Tree had begun fusing with the desolate world and had become an inseparable part of it.
If he destroyed the Ancestral Tree, the desolate world would fall apart, and he would lose all his cultivation.
"We cannot tell you about the origins of the Ancestral Tree. As for why we seek to destroy it, I believe you should know the reason better than I do," the Divine Lord replied. It was not that he refused to speak; he did not know.
The Divine Race had passed down their memories through the generations, and their ancestors had left them with only one command. It was to destroy the Ancestral Tree.
Liu Wuxie already knew that the Ancestral Tree was the Divine Race's nemesis, but he still frowned. He had come to uncover the Ancestral Tree's origins.
"Since the Divine Lord refuses to tell me, there's no need for us to continue this discussion any longer," Liu Wuxie said, rising to his feet.
"Liu Wuxie, that's because we also don't know about the Ancestral Tree's origin. We only knew that our ancestors once cut it down," the Divine Son spoke out. Not a single soul in the entire Divine Race knew anything more than that.
"If you don't know the origin of the Ancestral Tree, why do you have a segment of the tree trunk outside?" Liu Wuxie asked, a hint of contempt flashing in his eyes as he pointed out the contradiction in their words.
"That's because we found the tree trunk in the Outer Astral Spacetime," the Divine Son continued.
As for the tree trunk's origin, they could share that much with Liu Wuxie. This had taken place a million years ago. The Divine Race had discovered the segment of a tree trunk while traveling to the Outer Astral Spacetime and brought it back.
Liu Wuxie nodded upon hearing this, knowing that the Divine Son did not need to deceive him. He had originally come to ask about the Ancestral Tree's main trunk. If he could refine the main trunk, he might even ascend directly to the Immortal Realm. But judging from the situation now, even the Divine Race knew nothing about it.
"I want that segment of the tree trunk," Liu Wuxie said, causing an uproar throughout the main hall.
The Divine Race had spent lots of effort retrieving that Ancestral Tree trunk from the Outer Astral Spacetime, and Liu Wuxie wanted it? If he obtained the tree trunk, his cultivation would rise again, which would not be good news for the Divine Race.
"Liu Wuxie, you're too arrogant!" The divinekin standing on both sides of the main hall glared at Liu Wuxie furiously, enraged by his demand.
"I'll be taking it today, no matter what. You can state an equivalent term, and I will agree to anything that I can fulfill," Liu Wuxie replied. He left no room for refusal, determined to obtain it. His breakthrough to the Quasi-Immortal Realm depended on it.
By allowing the Divine Race to state a term, he had already offered them an exchange.
All the divinekin turned to look at the Divine Lord. They knew that handing the Ancestral Tree's trunk to Liu Wuxie would become a nightmare for the Divine Race.
