Elder Kinston's Exclusive Sweet Wife
Chapter 1072 - 1111: Returning to Falling City
She just didn’t mention that she had met Daniel Harris at the hospital.
"It’s actually good to resign. This way, it will be easier for you to rest," he said. "As for your uncle, I’ll definitely find a way to wake him up soon."
"Thank you," she said, but her tone was more distant and polite.
His brows furrowed further, "Mabel, I don’t like it when you say thank you to me."
She remained silent, as if her mind had drifted away again. He pressed his lips together but didn’t say anything further. These days, she seemed to always be like this. Even though he was right in front of her, her thoughts seemed to be elsewhere, sometimes she would look at him, but it was as if he wasn’t truly in her eyes.
This feeling was quite uncomfortable for him.
While having dinner, Mabel suddenly said, "I want to go stay in Falling City for a few days, is that okay?"
"You want to go to Falling City?" He lifted his head with a hint of surprise.
"Yes, I want to clear my mind. Staying in J City always makes me think of things I don’t want to think about," she said, her eyes somewhat gloomy.
Things she didn’t want to think about... was she referring to the child? He pondered for a moment before saying, "Alright, I’ll arrange it. In two days, I’ll be off from work, and I can accompany you back to Falling City then."
"Okay." She responded, then lowered her head again, quietly continuing her dinner.
Two days later, Kyle Kinston accompanied Mabel Quinn back to Falling City. As Mabel looked out the airplane window at the city below, she felt incredibly complex emotions.
Back then, when she left this city, she was so happy and delighted. At that time, she felt all the problems between them had been resolved, they had received their marriage certificate, and she was looking forward to their wedding in two months.
She thought that when she returned here, it would be on the eve of their wedding, and she would be the bride with a face full of happiness.
But who could have imagined that she would return in such a state of mind? A mindset so desolate and aged.
It felt as though she no longer had expectations for anything anymore.
No... Now there’s one thing she can still look forward to, and that is the child in her womb. She wants to give birth to this child, she wants to give this child a life.
The plane landed at the airport, and Kyle Kinston and Mabel Quinn disembarked. Outside the airport, a car was already waiting.
They returned to the Kinston Family home, greeted by Butler Kang’s smiling face.
Butler Kang didn’t know about their situation, only that Mabel Quinn wanted to stay in Falling City for a few days, so he had prepared the room, and now he warmly chatted with Mabel Quinn.
Mabel forced herself to be lively as she responded to the enthusiastic elder. Then, in the garden, she looked at the Osmanthus tree sapling they had planted the day they received their marriage certificate as a memory. So small now, but would it grow into a large tree one day? Would it fill the garden with fragrance? She probably wouldn’t be able to see it.
After having lunch at the Kinston Family home, Mabel Quinn said to Kyle Kinston that she wanted to visit the Ancestral Hall again.
"Are you tired of it?" he asked. After all, she had been to the Kinston Family’s Ancestral Hall twice already. To him, the Ancestral Hall was just those things.
"No," she said.
"Alright then, I’ll take you there later," he said.
The afternoon weather was sunny with a light breeze. Walking along the shaded path from the back of the Kinston Family home to the Ancestral Hall was very peaceful. Sunlight filtered through the treetops, sprinkling down in a way that felt very comforting.
