Endless Debt
Chapter 1134: Epilogue 2
"Until he tried to unfold the New World Plan, until the Fall of the Holy City ruined everything."
Mammon paused for a moment and continued, "I suspect that more than twenty years before the Fall of the Holy City, the ceremony I disrupted was the prototype of the New World Plan. For so many years, he has been accumulating technology, which finally got exposed in the Fury of Scorched Earth."
"We killed King Solomon, burned down the Holy City, but it was still not enough. Leviathan had already obtained the technology he needed and continued to secretly plan everything in the ensuing years."
Mammon’s voice gradually rose, "Bologue Lazarus is the best proof; he became Leviathan’s debtor during the Fall of the Holy City. While he was imprisoned by the Order Bureau, Xilin invaded the Cultivation Room. His suicide attack was only to secretly hand over his Alchemy Matrix to Bologue without anyone noticing."
"Why did he do this? What is so special about his Alchemy Matrix?"
Mammon kept questioning, his expression growing more and more agitated, even shouting.
"Why did we learn of his plan during the Fury of Scorched Earth?"
The woman fell into silence. During the frantic war of the Fury of Scorched Earth, they learned of the existence of the New World Plan and unanimously changed direction, destroying the towering Holy City.
"Haven’t you noticed the anomaly? Leviathan’s intelligence was hidden so deeply, but at the crucial moment, his information suddenly leaked, leading to our siege and the fall of the Holy City... Was this, too, part of his plan? Using our hands to eliminate the increasingly powerful King Solomon, while he hid away with this abominable technology?"
Mammon threw out one question after another, and finally, he said sternly.
"Beelzebub, regardless of whether my guess is correct, regardless of what Leviathan is plotting... he has become too dangerous, about to break the balance between us, he must be replaced."
Replaced...
The woman’s expression became increasingly serious and vigilant; she did not expect Mammon to outright propose this replacement.
Just as she was about to speak, Mammon interrupted again.
"Do you dare to gamble?"
Mammon stared straight at the woman, his gaze as sharp as a thorn.
"The New World Plan is no longer a mystery. We already know its true nature. Do you understand what this means?"
New World, each time this phrase flashed through the woman’s mind, it brought a wrenching pain.
One thing Mammon said was very true: every Devil both envies and fears the power of the New World, a power sufficient to upset the balance.
"No matter how hard we harvest souls, it’s too slow. We are both kin of power and mutual adversaries seeking to seize each other’s power, eager to destroy one another yet afraid of the other being destroyed and the power falling into others’ hands."
Mammon spoke of the hatred and unity among the Devils. Each Devil acted based on its own interests, hence falling into this endless cycle, unable to find release.
"Leviathan is a madman and a genius. Rather than competing with us, his kin, in this world, he chose to open up a new hunting ground... a new world."
Even as a terrifying Devil, the woman felt her heartbeat pause for a moment. At that time, every Devil who knew this intelligence had a reaction similar to hers.
First came endless greed, for that was a brand-new world, a fresh hunting ground. As the Ethereal Realm gradually overlapped with it, granting Devils the chance to unleash power, countless souls awaited their harvest.
After ecstatic joy came fear; they feared the other might find this New World first, gain this power, and then come to destroy them.
Hence, the Devils tacitly chose to destroy it all, deceiving themselves to forget the existence of the New World.
But how could they not yearn and envy?
At the thought of such a possibility, their minds twisted endlessly.
Mammon revealed the truth of the past, "Relying on the power of Leviathan and the wisdom of King Solomon, they created a ritual, throwing countless souls into the void until one soul found another world.
The way to another world was found."
In an instant, the writhing flesh in the cave ceased, even the surface of the Blood Lake remained rippless.
Black pitch filled Mammon’s eyes, flowing down slowly, sluggishly, with a hissing corrosion sound.
"Did we really burn everything that day?"
Mammon questioned, "Could it be that Leviathan succeeded? Perhaps somewhere in this world, there’s a soul with memories of another world, along with the coordinates of that world?"
He would become the key to open the New World.
Just like he once opened the door in this world.
"Shut up, Mammon."
The woman’s beautiful face twisted gradually, but Mammon didn’t care about these; he seemed to be the owner here, questioning again loudly.
"You can’t dismiss this possibility, dear. When suspicion arises, unless we grind Leviathan into dust and replace his will, you’ll lie sleepless through eternity."
Mammon added, "Perhaps in a not-so-distant future, we won’t have eternity."
"Did you come here just to say these things to me?" The woman suppressed her anger.
Mammon said, "Of course not, I just came to let you recognize reality. The King’s Secret Sword is severely damaged, and Xilin has returned to life. Next, all spears are pointed at you; if we don’t unite, we’ll only be defeated one by one."
The woman perceived the implication in Mammon’s words, "It’s not me needing you; it’s you needing me, needing me to avoid getting eradicated."
Mammon just smiled, an evil smile.
"Leviathan can’t accomplish all this alone," the woman asserted.
"That’s why he persuaded Belphegor and Asmodeus. They will enjoy the fruits of victory together," Mammon continued, "Three people sharing the world’s souls is better than seven."
"You left out someone," the woman probed cautiously.
"Him? He’s an empty shell in terms of power; discussing him is pointless." On this part, Mammon didn’t want to go on.
"Then what do you plan to do next?"
The woman knew that Mammon must have fully prepared himself to meet her; all previous conversations were merely the means to his end.
But there was one thing Mammon said correctly; the increasingly perilous situation forced them to unite, to utilize each other.
"Very simple, you have to find a way to withstand Xilin’s wrath, and as for me, I’ll find a way to eliminate those unstable factors."
"Such as?"
"Such as Bologue Lazarus, no matter what role he plays in Leviathan’s plan, eliminating him will surely affect Leviathan, and for example, the one being imprisoned could be a decent assistance, and also...
For example, the one who has been asleep all along."
Mammon ceased discussing this part, his hands opened, fingers touching together.
"As the concentration of Ether gradually increases and the Ethereal Realm gradually overlaps with the Material Realm, Condensers will gain more power to interfere with reality, and so do we."
Mammon envisioned such a future.
"The extraordinary mundane world is about to descend."
...
White mist continuously rose, the dense clouds like converging silver dragons racing at high speed. The clouds gathered into thick layers, covering the entire sky. Deep within the clouds, traces of lightning could be vaguely seen.
Thunder rumbled in the sky, the air filled with the scent of electricity, violent winds came, stirring the surging clouds, currents swiftly coursing through them, in the gaps between flashes of light, weak charges could be seen leaping madly, incessantly flickering with a blinding glow.
A thunderous explosion erupted, the bursting sound of lightning like a declaration of war’s horn between heaven and earth.
The Astronaut lounged leisurely on his recliner, gazing at the azure planet and the massive storm gradually forming in the atmosphere.
The golden visor reflected the myriad things of the planet.
