Evil Emperor: Vampyre Bloodline makes me OP
Chapter 77: Elda’s Oath
Elda swung her sword in different motions... Downward slash... Slash again.
She was trying to make such motions something akin to muscle memory. She wanted to be able to draw her weapon and change forms as fast as possible.
And that was not all.
She suddenly stabbed forward but just before her stab reached full thrust, her sword vanished but her attack did not halt.
Just as it seemed it was over, her fist suddenly changed to a spear.
The sudden increase in reach would have caught anyone off guard and that was exactly what she wanted.
She backed up and her spear vanished again.
Suddenly she was throwing jabs with her bare hands and then she switched again. Her hand transformed into a claw mid-jab, turning her punch into a claw strike.
Suddenly she stopped...She sensed someone and she immediately took off toward his location.
She stopped under a tree and looked up and found just the person she was looking for.
"Master." She bowed... She seemed excited in her own silent, expressionless way.
Jensen looked down from his tree at Elda, he had been watching her train and he had to say, her fighting style was unique, to say the least.
"Nice technique." Jensen smiled at her. "You have spent the little time you had here quite well."
"Yes, Master, but it is still not good enough." Elda shook her head, disappointed. "There is still a lag between changing the weapons, but I want the weapons to change instantaneously."
Jensen nodded, although he did not understand much about weapon use, he still understood what she wanted to accomplish.
Several people had tried to accomplish the same thing and more often than not, they failed for several reasons.
First, the lag between weapon changes was not all Elda’s fault.
Spatial rings had a certain lag duration that could not be overcome no matter what and that was why many people carried their weapons in their hands.
The only spatial ring Jensen had seen without lag was the Immortal Grade Spatial Ring, but he had no plans of giving her the one he had.
’Maybe if I find another one.’
The second issue he could see was the predictive inertial change.
From what he saw, when her thrust continued after the sword vanished before changing to a spear, her body was committing forward momentum as if holding a one-point-five-kilogram sword and then suddenly she was holding a five-kilogram spear.
The weight difference was an issue but that could be easily solved with the help of a skilled blacksmith.
Another issue with the change was that spears had a different balance point which is near the butt, while swords had theirs near the hilt.
Mid-thrust, her wrists, shoulders, and core were aligned for a short, light blade but when the spear appeared, the leverage changed instantly.
This would often pull her off-balance or strain her joints, not extend her reach cleanly.
Instead of a smooth surprise reach extension, she might stagger forward or drop the spear’s tip... Although she did seem to be getting a handle on this.
There were several other issues that he could instantly think off just from what he could see.
The waste of energy when she switches weapons.
Also, her fighting style depended mostly on surprise so if she used it once, other veteran fighters would learn to predict her movements.
And, if someone managed to take her spatial ring or disconnect it, her entire fighting style would fall apart.
But in the end, even if others failed to solve it, Jensen did not doubt that Elda would find a way... Simply because she had his bloodline.
’Maybe also her will,’ Jensen considered.
"I understand... Do you want something from me?" Jensen asked.
He suspected she had attachment issues, but he was not sure and then he expected whatever feelings that may have come as a rush from him saving her to have faded once she spent more time awake.
"I want to swear my loyalty to you," Elda said.
"You already did by accepting the bloodline."
"I still want to do it." Elda’s face remained cold.
"Fine... Do whatever you want." Jensen knew she would do it anyway with how stubborn she seemed, so why not.
Elda fell to her knees slowly in front of Jensen and began her oath.
The air grew still as she spoke with her voice was calm.
"I, Elda, swear on the universe... I swear on mana itself that I will serve Jensen Morvath for all eternity."
"And if we were ever reborn, I will serve him in every lifetime."
Jensen rose when he felt the mana around them begin to grow reckless... Almost as if it was sentient.
"Let the universe bear witness."
She lifted her head just enough to press her palm flat against her chest and some of her mana began to bleed into the gathering energy.
"If I, Elda, by word or thought or silence... by action or inaction... by a blade held back or a truth withheld, should ever betray Jensen Morvath..."
The agitation of the mana grew worse and Jensen became concerned.
’Wait, do not do anything. Let it happen,’ Xal’Zyraeth’s thought reached him through their mind link.
"Let my mana turn to ash in my veins. Let my blood energy consume itself from within until nothing remains but hollow vessels and silent screams."
"Let my body forget its purpose... They shall become limbs that will not strike for him, hands that will not lift for him, eyes that will not watch his back."
"And when death comes to claim what remains of me, let there be no next life."
"So let it be written... So let it be remembered... So let it be for all eternity."
The mana became even worse. Jensen realized it was his turn, he had to do something and he knew just what.
"I, Jensen Morvath, accept your oath."
Suddenly, he felt a connection form between them. The mana became very violent before disappearing just as it had appeared.
Jensen was truly stunned. He didn’t think that was possible, but it answered some questions.
’Yes, you can swear on the universe,’ Xal’Zyraeth explained before Jensen could ask. ’It is just that no one does because it cannot be broken and there is a limit to it.’
’Feel it.’ Xal’Zyraeth told him.
Jensen closed his eyes and focused on the connection between them. He could feel that he could barely take another such oath.
Then he felt something else... Something he had not known until now.
There was another one.
(A.N.: I think I over explained here but I hope you guys get the gist... while the I want the MC overpowered I don’t want it to all come to easy and I also what to give real issues they have to solve, not just nerve them for no good reason.)
