Extra's Life: MILFs Won't Leave the Incubus Alone
Chapter 409 - 404: Crown of Fractures
Aiden stood at the edge of the shattered nexus spire, boots planted on cracked stone that still hummed with leftover power. The fracture storm above had finally started to die down.
Those massive golden cracks across the sky, which had torn the continent apart for decades, were sealing shut one by one. Not by chance. By his order.
Below, the battlefield stretched out in every direction. Imperial troops in dark armor mixed with clan warriors and southern vassals. The Church’s remaining forces had thrown down their weapons.
Some knelt in long lines. Others lay dead where they fell. The anti-Pope’s broken staff rested at Aiden’s feet, its crystal head smashed to pieces.
He raised his hand. The entire army went quiet.
"Today ends one rule," Aiden said, voice carrying across the floating platform thanks to the amplification runes.
"The Church promised salvation and delivered chains. They called the fractures divine punishment. We call them tools. From this day forward, this continent has one law. One empire. Mine."
A roar exploded from the ranks. Imperial soldiers slammed fists against shields. Clan warriors raised axes high.
Even the southerners, who had joined late, cheered. Aiden watched former Church knights drop to their knees in waves. The sound hit him like a physical force.
Lady Sienna stepped forward, dragging three high Church officials by chains. Their fancy robes were torn and dirty. Blood streaked their faces.
"These three coordinated the final defense," Sienna reported. Her armor was dented but she stood straight. "They tried to collapse the central rift on our heads."
Aiden looked down at them. The oldest one, a cardinal with a broken nose, met his eyes with pure hate.
"Kill us then," the cardinal spat. "We will not bow to a fracture-born tyrant."
Aiden smiled without warmth. "I’m not asking you to bow. I’m giving you a choice. Swear new oaths to the empire and you live.
You keep your titles, your lands, and your heads. Refuse, and I send you through the nearest collapsing rift. Your choice."
Silence fell over the platform. One of the younger officials immediately dropped his head to the stone. "I swear! On my blood and name, I serve the empire!"
The second followed right after, babbling promises of loyalty. The cardinal held out longer, face twisting, until the rift behind Aiden flared with unstable energy. Then even he broke.
"I... swear," he whispered.
The army roared again, louder this time. Defectors from the Church ranks started shouting Aiden’s name. The morale surge was immediate and infectious. Soldiers who had fought each other yesterday now stood shoulder to shoulder.
Thalira moved next. The turned priestess wore simple black robes now, no Church symbols left.
She carried a heavy bundle of scrolls. Without ceremony, she dropped them into a prepared brazier and lit it with a controlled flame spell. The scrolls burned fast, releasing sparks of old magic into the air.
"These were the final major doctrine scrolls," Thalira announced, voice clear. "But before they burn completely, everyone should hear this." She held up one half-burned page.
"The prophecy they hid for two hundred years. ’When the fractures bleed gold and a man of iron stands at the broken spire, the false sky will mend.’"
She tossed the page into the fire.
The crowd lost it. Even hardened warriors cheered like kids. Aiden felt the weight of the moment settle. It wasn’t just victory by force. Now it looked like destiny too.
A messenger arrived at a run, breathing hard. He saluted sharply. "Lord Aiden. Urgent report from the southern border. Lord Lorrak has declared independence.
He’s pulling his troops back and claiming the fracture lines in his territory as his own. He says with the Church broken, you’re too weak to stop him."
Aiden’s expression didn’t change. "Of course he does."
He turned to the crowd. "Celebrate. You’ve earned it. But the work isn’t done."
He pointed at Nyra and Kaelra. "Take two hundred of the Thorn Legion and the fastest riders.
Remind Lorrak what happens when someone tries to break from the empire on day one. No mercy if he resists. Bring him back in chains if necessary."
Nyra grinned, sharp teeth showing. Kaelra simply nodded, already motioning for her officers. They moved out within minutes, a fast strike force cutting south across the stabilized plains.
Aiden stayed behind. He walked to the center of the platform where engineers had finished setting up the Fracture Anchor.
The device stood twenty feet tall, a black metal obelisk wrapped in golden crystal veins. His design. His work. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
He placed his hand on the activation rune. Power surged through the anchor, connecting to every major rift line under imperial control. Across the battlefield, smaller fractures began closing.
The golden light in the sky dimmed further. For the first time in living memory, the continent felt stable.
The army cheered again, but this time it was different. Not just victory. Relief. Hope.
Aiden looked out over the scene. This was the payoff. All the fighting, the planning, the risks. It led here.
Three days later – Blackvein Forge City
The Grand Assembly hall in Blackvein had been expanded twice during the war. Now it barely held everyone.
Clan leaders, southern nobles, new defectors from the Church, and imperial officers packed the space. Banners of the new empire hung from the walls – black iron seed on golden field.
Aiden sat on the central throne, simple but imposing. No excessive decorations. Just clear authority.
"I’m not here to make pretty speeches," he said. "We won the war. Now we build the empire. Today, I establish the Ironseed Council. Every loyal vassal gets a seat and a voice. But hierarchy stays clear. My word ends every debate."
He named the first members on the spot. Clan chiefs who had bled with him. Southern lords who delivered on promises.
Even two of the defected Church officials, now stripped of their old titles but given administrative roles. The balance was deliberate. Everyone saw it.
Next came the demonstration. Engineers rolled out the prototype Rift-rail Engine into the central square visible from the hall. The massive vehicle sat on crystal tracks, humming with contained fracture energy.
When they activated it, the engine shot forward, crossing the badlands route in under an hour. A distance that used to take weeks.
The assembly lost their minds. Practical power. Real progress. Trade would explode. Troops could move fast. Resources could flow.
Aiden called forward Sienna. "Lady Sienna. For your actions in the final campaign and your loyalty through every fracture, I name you Marshal of the South. The southern territories are yours to secure and develop."
Sienna knelt, then rose with clear pride. The hall applauded hard.
"Kaelra," Aiden continued.
"You and the Thorn Legion held the line when everything looked lost. You are now head of all elite forces. Expand them. Train them. No one gets past our borders again."
Kaelra accepted with a short bow. Her expression stayed cold, but satisfaction showed in her eyes.
Public judgments followed. Traitors and cowards from the war were brought out. Some were stripped of titles. Others executed quickly. Justice was seen to be done.
Mid-ceremony, the eastern envoy arrived.
The man wore flowing silver robes that seemed to shift like clouds. He bowed politely but his eyes scanned everything with sharp interest.
"I represent the Aetheric Dominion," he said. "We remained neutral during your... conflict with the Church. Now we offer alliance. Your fracture stabilization technology interests us. In return, we bring knowledge from the sky cities."
Aiden studied him. The offer sounded friendly. The eyes said otherwise. They wanted the anchors. They feared what he was building.
"We’ll discuss terms," Aiden said. "Later."
After the envoy stepped back, Elizabeth approached the throne. She looked regal in dark imperial colors, hair pinned back. No wild energy today. Just sharp focus.
While the hall celebrated the promotions, she leaned in and placed a detailed map in Aiden’s hands.
"I’ve spent the last year building networks," she said quietly. "This shows every potential threat and opportunity. Weak points in the east. Resource veins in the north. People who will join us if we move fast."
Aiden examined the map. It was thorough. Better than his own intelligence teams had delivered.
"Good work," he told her. Real respect in his voice.
As the sun set, Aiden gave the final command. Engineers across the city activated the new system.
A controlled golden aurora spread across the sky, visible for hundreds of miles. The empire’s symbol burned bright above every city, town, and fortress under his control.
He climbed to the highest tower in Blackvein. Construction sounds filled the air below – hammers, shouts, machines. New walls going up. New rails being laid. The city was growing by the hour.
Nyra and Kaelra would return soon with news of Lorrak. The Aetheric Dominion would push for talks. Bigger threats waited beyond the known maps.
Aiden gripped the railing. This wasn’t the end of anything. It was the beginning of something much larger.
The fractures were closing. The empire was rising.
And he was only getting started.
