Fake Husband of the Glamorous CEO
Chapter 145: High-end hunters often appear in the form of prey.
Seeing her son walk into the house, Gu Dadong scoffed hard, "What are you doing back? Little Yue didn’t bring a gift for you."
Yu Ling echoed her husband, "Exactly, you get nothing."
Gu Feng rolled his eyes.
"Mom, for Gu Feng, my mere presence here is the best gift already," Lin Yue said with a laugh, casting a flirtatious glance at Gu Feng, "Isn’t it?"
Gu Feng walked over in irritation, taking her hand and leading her to his room.
After closing the door, Gu Feng questioned, "Why didn’t you tell me you were coming to Beijing?"
"I wanted to surprise you," Lin Yue chuckled, looking around Gu Feng’s room.
Noticing the frames filled with photos of Gu Feng and his comrades, she asked curiously, "Are these from your time in the army?"
Although Gu Feng was annoyed by her changing the subject, he nodded anyway.
As Lin Yue looked around the room at the many photos of Gu Feng’s time in the military and the medals for military honors, she clicked her tongue, "I always thought that the soldier photo you sent me was you in a rented costume."
Gu Feng replied, "At Jiangcheng Airport today, I wanted to tell you, but you didn’t give me a chance to speak."
Lin Yue gave an embarrassed smile, recalling how on the first day she picked up Gu Feng, she had talked to him like a business executive coaching him on what to do.
Thinking about that was like recalling her social death.
All she could do was change the subject upon seeing the commendations and medals, curious, "My dad got a second-class merit when he was in the army. Why do your medals seem different from his?"
As she spoke, she asked Gu Feng, "Didn’t you ever get a second-class merit?"
Gu Feng hesitated, unsure how to tell her that even his least significant medal was at the level of an "Honorary Title."
These medals were all higher than a first-class merit, and within the honorary titles, there were distinctions among second-class model, second-class combat hero, first-class model, first-class combat hero, and special class combat hero; Gu Feng had consistently earned the title of special class combat hero through his tasks!
The most he could do was embrace diplomacy and reply, "The medals awarded in Dad’s time were different from now, so they look different."
"Can I take a picture?" Lin Yue asked.
So that later, if anyone asked her if her husband had achieved anything in the military, she could show them these.
Although she didn’t understand them, Liu Yuan was quite the military fan, she would know a lot.
Gu Feng nodded, "Sure."
Lin Yue was cautious, "Would that be inconvenient?"
Gu Feng shook his head, "It would have been inconvenient if I was still in the service due to the need to protect me, but since I’ve retired, it doesn’t matter anymore."
Only then did Lin Yue take out her phone, snapping away at the dazzling array of medals.
Curious, she then asked, "Since these medals and ranks are real, why couldn’t so many people in Jiangcheng find out about them?"
Leaning against the door, Gu Feng raised an eyebrow, "Is it possible that their clearance wasn’t high enough? Generally, in classified units, information is hard to come by; even among classified units, there are levels of clearance."
Lin Yue suddenly understood, putting away her phone, then with a teasing glint, she asked Gu Feng, "Why did you suddenly come back?"
Gu Feng definitely couldn’t say ’I was worried about you.’
He just made an excuse, "My wife is home. If I didn’t come back, what would people think about our relationship?"
That frustrated Lin Yue.
You could say Gu Feng doesn’t care about her, but she could feel that he had done so much for her.
But whenever she asked him why, he could come up with all sorts of plausible reasons revolving around ’contract marriage’ that you just can’t argue with.
Lin Yue was very dissatisfied with his answer, pouting as she prepared to leave the room.
But Gu Feng pulled her back, "Where are you going?"
"Back to my room," Lin Yue responded, feigning ignorance.
"Where is your room?" Gu Feng said playfully, eyeing her, "You’re a married woman who has come into the Gu family; you’re supposed to share a room with me—not staying at your parents’ house."
No sooner had he spoken than they indeed saw mother-in-law Yu Ling coming with a new pillow to knock on the door.
"Little Yue, Mom brought you a pillow."
As Lin Yue opened the door, she saw her mother-in-law holding the pillow.
That’s all.
Meaning, she might have to share a blanket with Gu Feng.
"It’s getting late, you both should head to bed early," Yu Ling said with a smile, closing the door behind her as she left.
Lin Yue’s flight had been at nine that evening, and it took her an hour from the airport to get home.
By the time Gu Feng rushed back, it was already past eleven; indeed, it was quite late.
Lin Yue, holding the pillow, slowly moved towards Gu Feng’s side of the bed, her heart starting to race?
Click!
Gu Feng locked the door.
He had no other intention; he was just afraid his mom might suddenly burst in.
But what he didn’t know was that, behind his back, a certain woman’s heart was racing.
All her thoughts were tangled: He wouldn’t be thinking of doing anything to me, would he?
Oh my, why do I feel somewhat excited about it?
