Fated Mate to the Triplet Alpha
Chapter 209 - 210: The School for Special Children
The eight-year-old boy’s screams shattered every window in the building.
Emma ducked as glass rained down around her, covering her head with her arms. This was their third emergency this week at Blackwood Academy for Gifted Children, and they’d only been open for two months.
"Tommy!" she called to the terrified child floating ten feet above the classroom floor. "It’s okay! You’re safe!"
But Tommy wasn’t listening. His fear had triggered his levitation power, and now he was stuck against the ceiling, crying and making everything in the room shake with his sonic voice.
"I want my mom!" Tommy wailed, and the sound wave knocked Emma backward into the wall.
Kael burst through the doorway, followed by Marcus, who immediately started creating protective barriers around the other students.
"What happened?" Kael shouted over the noise.
"Billy made fun of his dead sister," Emma yelled back. "Tommy saw her ghost during art class, and Billy said he was lying!"
This was the problem with teaching children who had cosmic abilities. Their emotions were directly connected to incredibly dangerous powers.
Luna appeared next to Tommy in a flash of silver light. At seventeen now, she’d learned to teleport instantly to wherever she was needed most.
"Hey, Tommy," Luna said gently, floating beside him. "I can see your sister too. She’s right here, and she wants to tell you something."
Tommy stopped screaming and looked around wildly. "Where? Where is she?"
"She’s holding your hand right now. She says she’s proud of how brave you’ve been since she died."
Emma watched as Tommy’s crying slowed down. Luna had this gift - she could see the ghosts that were connected to their students and help the children understand they weren’t crazy.
"She’s really here?" Tommy whispered.
"She’s always here," Luna said. "And she wants you to know that learning to control your powers will help you protect other people like she couldn’t protect herself."
Tommy slowly floated down to the ground, his powers settling as he calmed down.
Emma felt relief wash over her. Crisis averted - for now.
But as she looked around the destroyed classroom, she wondered if they were in over their heads.
Two months ago, after defeating Shadow Emma for good, the family had made a decision. There were more children like Luna being born every day - kids with cosmic abilities who didn’t understand what was happening to them. Their parents were scared, doctors couldn’t help them, and most schools couldn’t handle their powers.
So Emma and Kael had used their cosmic connections to open the first school designed specifically for supernatural children.
Blackwood Academy taught regular subjects like math and science, but also classes on power control, dimensional safety, and emotional balance. Marcus served as their security expert, making sure no student accidentally opened portals to dangerous realms.
The idea was brilliant in theory.
In practice, it was chaos.
"Attention everyone," Emma announced to the class. "Clean-up time means everyone uses their powers responsibly."
She watched as ten-year-old Sarah used her telekinesis to stack chairs, while nine-year-old David made plants grow from seeds to replace the ones that died during Tommy’s outburst. Twins Amy and Anna worked together to repair the broken windows with their matter-manipulation abilities.
This was the beautiful part - watching children learn that their strange powers could be used to help rather than hurt.
"Mrs. Emma," called a small voice. "The dead teachers want to know if they can help with math class."
Emma turned to see six-year-old Lily, who could communicate with spirits just like Luna used to at that age.
"Which dead teachers, sweetie?"
"The ones who taught at this school before it became our school. They’re excited about having supernatural students."
Emma smiled. The building they’d bought had been a regular elementary school for fifty years before closing down. Apparently, some of the former teachers were still hanging around as ghosts.
"Tell them we’d love their help," Emma said.
Luna walked over and placed her hand on Lily’s shoulder. "I’ll translate between you and the ghost teachers, okay? That way you don’t get overwhelmed."
This was how Luna had chosen to balance her cosmic guardian duties with normal life. She worked part-time helping souls in other dimensions, but spent most of her time at the school, serving as a bridge between the living students and the spiritual world.
"Students," Kael announced, "it’s time for afternoon lessons. Group A goes to Power Control with Mr. Marcus. Group B comes with me for Dimensional Safety. Group C stays here for Emotional Balance with Mrs. Emma."
As the children split into their groups, Emma felt proud of what they’d built. These kids were learning that being different didn’t make them dangerous. They were discovering how to use their abilities responsibly while still getting to be children.
But her pride was interrupted when Luna suddenly went rigid beside her.
"Luna?" Emma asked. "What’s wrong?"
Luna’s eyes had gone wide with terror. "Mom," she whispered, "I’m sensing something awful coming toward the school."
"What kind of something?"
"Children. Lots of them. But they’re not like our students."
Emma felt her stomach clench. "What do you mean?"
"These children... their powers aren’t natural. Someone or something gave them abilities artificially. And they’re being controlled."
Through the repaired windows, Emma could see dark shapes moving across the playground. They looked like children, but they moved in perfect formation, like soldiers.
"How many?" Kael asked, appearing at Emma’s side.
Luna’s face went pale. "Twenty. All between ages seven and twelve. And Mom..." Luna grabbed Emma’s arm. "They’re here to take our students."
Marcus burst into the room. "We have a problem. My dimensional sensors are going crazy. Someone is using the children outside as weapons."
Emma looked at their twelve students, who were all staring out the windows with growing fear. These were just babies - kids who’d finally found a safe place to learn about their gifts.
"Tommy," Emma called to the boy who’d been screaming earlier. "I need you to use your sonic voice to send a message to your parents. Tell them to come get you right now."
"But Mrs. Emma," Tommy said, "what about our afternoon lessons?"
Emma forced herself to smile even though her heart was pounding. "We’re going to have a different kind of lesson today. We’re going to learn about protecting the people we care about."
The dark children outside began moving faster, and Emma could see their eyes glowing with unnatural light.
Someone had created an army of supernatural children.
And they were coming to destroy everything Emma’s family had built.
